2 hours south of Provo and 3 1/2 hours north of Las Vegas lies Fish Lake, Utah. Fish Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Utah and one of Utah's most beautiful mountain lakes. Measuring six miles long and a mile wide, the lake's 160-foot depth and crystal clear waters provide some of the West's finest year-round fishing. It is a great place to get away, and also to hold family reunions. There are different rental cabins available, campgrounds, and also the famous Fish Lake Lodge.

Fish Lake Lodge is a lodge in the truest sense of the word. Under construction from 1928 until 1933, and built of native spruce logs, the lodge measures 80 X 320 feet, and is one of the largest and most impressive log structures in the United States. A restaurant is available in the old Fish Lake Lodge close to the cabins during the summer season. A second restaurant is also available at the north end of the lake May thru September.

FISHING: Although Splake and Rainbow trout are commonly taken, the lake is especially famous for its 20, 30 and even 40-pound Mackinaw lake trout. (Any Mack under 10-pounds is called a ”pup” and not considered worth keeping by local fisherman). Boat rentals are available at one of the 2 marinas.

WINTERTIME: Ice fishing, Cross Country Skiing and Snowmobiling. Sitting 8,800 feet in the Southern end of Utah's Wasatch mountain range, Fish Lake provides the perfect setting for a variety of winter activities from late December to early April. Surrounded by innumerable high mountain meadows and trails, the Fish Lake area offers some of the very finest snowmobiling and cross country skiing anywhere in the United States. You can ride snowmobiles right from the cabin. Fish Lake freezes over completely, and you can snowmobile across it as you head out for your day's journey. Also very popular is ice fishing on the lake during the winter. The kids will enjoy playing in the snow, the adults will love the quiet and peaceful surroundings, good food, family memories, and great friends. Fish Lake Lodge closes during the winter.

SUMMERTIME: Fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding and scuba diving. Fish Lake in the summer offers a refreshing change of scenery and climate from those hot and hectic summer days. Imagine relaxing and enjoying the beautiful vista of the lake and its surrounding cover of spruce and aspens in moderate 70 to 80 degree temperatures. Send the boys out on one of the rental boats to fish, and the women can stay and play in the cabin. You can communicate by walkie talkie with the people on the lake. No better fishing than that! During the summer, they hold church services in the old lodge. The park rangers also hold different info classes on Friday night and Saturday on different topics. The kids will love to make their 'crafts' they do as they teach the kids classes. Church services every Sunday in the old Lodge. Fish Lake, due to its crystal clear waters and challenging spear fishing, is one of Utah's most popular scuba diving areas.

ATV USE: There are great ATV trails around the lake, but you can not unload the ATV's at the cabin. On the east side of the lake on the mountain there are 4-wheeler trails with great overlooks of the lake and cabins. North of the lake there are some great ATV trails near six mile by Johnson Reservoir.

CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL MONUMENT: Is 38 miles from Fish Lake. There are great hiking trails, ancient Indian petroglyphs, horseback riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, historic Fruita schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and a year-round visitors center with museum & bookstore.

We appreciate you looking at our cabin. We know there are a lot of choices, but we promise you will love our cabin. We hope you will decide to stay with us.

What a Gorgeous Location!

Our vacation at Fish Lake was so memorable. We visited in autumn when all the aspen trees were covered in brilliant golden leaves. One of my favorite things to do was taking an easy early morning stroll along the lake shore. Our family enjoyed an outing on the lake in a rented pontoon boat. It's also pretty fun to eat breakfast while watching the moose through the kitchen window. We'll definitely be back to Fish Lake.

Fall at Fish Lake

Stayed Sept. 26th and 27th. Wow it was beautiful, the trees where just starting to turn all their bright colors. Went out fishing and hiking. The fishing was great, caught several fish over 16 inches! Rented the big pontoon from marina and was great! The lake was like glass and the weather was fantastic. I have fished Fish Lake before in the summer, but I'm now hooked on coming in the fall. Elderberry cabin was great and the view of the lake from the cabin was breath taking. I hadn't been sleeping good at home and I sleep like a baby at Fish Lake. The king beds where very comfortable, cabin was roomy, big TV appreciated, just what the doctor ordered.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. The fishermen at Fish Lake say that the Fall is the best time for catching "the big ones". I'm glad you got to see the leaves. Fall is gorgeous. I hope you noticed the "Aspen Heart" on the hill. It is a grove of aspens in the shape of a heart. They are the first leaves on the hill that turn colors. Most of the other foliage all turn yellow, but the heart turns red. Check out our website for pictures of the fall leaves. The link is above.

Elderberry is a cute and cozy cabin to stay in. It has King beds and nice decor and a view off the kitchen that will make you feel like you want to stay longer. Waking up in the mornings and seeing the sun come up on the lake with fishermen casting their poles for their catch of the day. Fish Lake has a smell of aspens that will make you want to be outdoors just for the mountain smell.

We have stayed here many times with our family and we hope to continue to come and stay more.

We loved our stay in the Elderberry cabin. The cabin is spacious and well-appointed. We especially appreciated the enclosed bedrooms upstairs that allowed everyone to sleep soundly. Having a shower after a day of fishing was so relaxing I cannot overstate it. The view of the Lake from the cabin is second to none. We consider our stay at Edlerberry to be a world-class experience of unparalleled beauty. WE ALSO CAUGHT A TON OF VERY LARGE FISH!

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin! We love how close we are to the lake also. It makes you feel like you can reach out and touch it. It is good to hear you enjoyed the enclosed bedrooms upstairs. They used to be an open loft, but due to suggestions, we enclosed them. Glad you slept soundly. Hope you come to visit us again soon.
