old time plantation feel with all the modern amenities, luxury home

The best thing about renting this property (and it is a beautiful property) was the wonderful support we received from the owner, Pat. The first problem we had on this vacation was trying to rent a car the week between Christmas and New Years. We could not find a car available to rent the first two days of our trip. Pat graciously offered to let us use their well-worn "beach car", and we gratefully to accepted. The day we were due to arrive, a snowstorm kept us from making our connection, and we missed our flight to Hawaii. We arrived 24 hrs. later than planned. Pat offered to let us stay an extra night at no extra charge to make up for the one we missed. We declined, but it was nice to have had the offer. The house itself was quite lovely. It was nicely decorated, clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The location is on a hill in a quiet residential neighborhood with a great view of the ocean. We felt like we were out of the "touristy" hotel area, but close to everything. My husband and daughter enjoyed swimming in the pool, which is not heated. They found it "refreshing", though I thought it was a little on the cool side. The grounds were amazing -- you could smell the flowers in the air, especially in the evening. My daughter enjoyed eating passion fruit off the tree by the gate for breakfast. The house was more room than we needed for our family of four, but we enjoyed having the space. Our teenagers each had their own bedroom and bath downstairs, (with a bedroom to spare), and we had the beautiful master suite upstairs. The extra bedroom actually came in handy after my husband caught a head cold -- I was happy to have the option to let him snore in isolation. I wish our vacation had been longer so that we could have had more time to relax in this "home away from home".
