Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a bit of a unique circumstance, as my crew and I were part of a indie film group utilizing the location for our short movie. The owners and caretakers were very accommodating in allowing our large group to stay and film here! It was an ideal scenario - there was plenty of room upstairs for us all to sleep and space downstairs to live/work. Having gorgeous views, the home set back from the main road, and adorable farm animals around the property were fantastic features - especially during cast and crew downtime! I highly recommend staying at the property and enjoying all of the peace and beauty that this Berkshire farmhouse offers.

The Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

It would be hard to imagine a more lovely place to stay with kids. We were there with our 2-year-old and were joined part of the time by friends with children as well. The "cottage" is huge, with plenty of room to spread out inside and the whole farm to explore outside. The kids spent a lot of time visiting the goats and the bottle-raised pig in the nearby barn. They splashed in the little stream, climbed the hills to look for the horses, walked the dirt driveway down to the small farm store, and ran barefoot around the large yard. We cooked every night in the well-equipped kitchen and ate delicious corn, greens, lamb and ice cream from the farm store. It felt to me like the perfect farmhouse: rambling and charming and well-loved. It's not the place to go if you're put off by a few upholstery stains or a shower curtain that has seen better days (despite being a little worn in places, though, the house was very clean). For us, it was the ideal vacation and I'm sure we'll visit Holiday Brook again.

Perfect for kids

  • 5 of 5

Our 9 days at Holiday Brook were magical. We had four adults, four kids under 6, and a baby. The house was spacious, clean, and very well appointed. We cooked countless meals in the kitchen with no problem, and ate outside almost every day. Our city kids became wild creatures in the best way- wading in the creek, running in the field, and climbing trees. Everyone we encountered who worked on the farm was so friendly and welcoming and very good with the kids. We visited the goats multiple times a day and got to try milking them. There were two sets of piglets born during our stay as well, and we brought our food scraps to their mamas on our visits. There were also cows, horses, dogs, and many different types of farm equipment to watch. The farm store was great for fresh meat, eggs, and ice cream! We only really left the house on one occasion to visit Mass MoCA which was an easy drive. With small kids there was plenty to do right on the farm, but if you wanted to venture out you'd be within easy driving to a LOT of Berkshire activities. There is also a very comprehensive list of things to do in the binder at the house. The on site-property managers were very friendly and helpful. And though they live next door, we always felt that we had a private house as it's arranged very well.

Overall, I was incredibly happy with our stay at the farm. It was so much better than I could have imagined, and that's largely due to the people who work there. Thanks to Mary, Angus, Allison, Ruth, Dicken, Rick, Tom, and Paul. And a special shout out to my ladies Cherry and Ginger- thanks for being such sweet goats. I never knew we could miss goats as much as we miss you. See you next spring!

Christmas fun on the farm

  • 5 of 5

My family of 10 gathered at the farm for what was a wonderfully memorable Christmas. The experience met all my (high) expectations - the house was clean and well-maintained, the layout perfect for a large group, and the property a relaxing and fun place for city-folk to spend the week. The kitchen is huge with all necessary equipment to prepare a holiday meal and the two rooms on either side of the kitchen allow for TV and noise in one, quiet conversation in the other.

Bedrooms were large enough for siblings to share and having 3 full baths was ideal.

We enjoyed walking the property, lots of places to explore and piglets, sheep, cows, and the owner's/worker's dogs to meet.

In preparation for the visit, Mary answered my questions promptly. When a problem arose with contractors showing up to work on the property manager's house, which is attached to the farm house we rented, she addressed it immediately and sent them home for the week.

My family and I highly recommend spending time at the farm.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay. My far-flung family stayed there over Thanksgiving and we had a great time. Desiree and Jesse were terrific and the house was exceptional. Cooking over Thanksgiving was a breeze. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped.

And the farm itself is lovely. We will definitely be back.
