Spend some time at our beautiful beach house overlooking Natural Bridges State Park. Hear the surf and see the ocean through the trees from the living room and the expansive deck. Drift into sleep listening to the waves from your bedroom. Walk down the block to the beach, build a sand castle, and play in the waves. Stroll down West Cliff and watch the surf crash against the cliffs. The house is also a short walk to Swift Street Courtyard, home to Kelly’s French Bakery, the Cellar Door Café, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, and multiple wine tasting rooms, including Bonny Doone, Copious Winery, and Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard. This newly remodeled beach house comes complete with flat panel TV's in the living room and separate kids' zone, Cable, DVD, and wireless Internet.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a sleeping loft. The upstairs living room has ample seating for enjoying the view, cozying up to the wood stove, or watching the flat screen TV. The spacious master bedroom is also upstairs, and overlooks the park. Two bedrooms and the 2nd bath are downstairs. The front downstairs bedroom is bright and sunny, with a queen bed. The downstairs back bedroom is very large (25x12). It has a queen bed, and a sitting area with another flat screen TV and a futon couch which folds out to a full size bed. The room also has a loft with two twin beds. It’s a perfect spot for a kids’ hang-out.

The house was completely renovated during the spring of 2011. The kitchen and both baths were stripped to the studs and remodeled, with all new appliances. All doors, carpets, and floors were replaced and everything has been newly painted. The furnishings are also new, and the kitchen is fully stocked with plates, pans, utensils and serving pieces. We have a gas grill on the deck, and seating for 8. We added a patio in the back yard in 2012 with a fire pit that's perfect for roasting marsh mellows. The house is also equipped with wireless.

We have lots of toys as well: 3 adult size cruiser bikes in the garage, two boogie boards, and 6 beach chairs, all for your use. Rental also includes bath towels, sheets, and beach towels (8). The kids will love making s’mores in the fire pit in the back yard. The boardwalk and downtown Santa Cruz are three miles away, an easy bike ride along West Cliff. The house is a perfect location for exploring Santa Cruz, Capitola and Aptos. Other great day-trips include the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the shops of Carmel. Come, relax and enjoy!

About Bruce Ramstad

Bruce is one of the few 2nd generation San Jose'ans you'll meet. He grew up in Willow Glen and went to Bellarmine and UC Santa Barbara. He works in the defense industry as a business analyst. Michaela grew up in Philadelphia and moved here to work for HP as a software engineer. Much of our courtship involved long walks along the beaches of the Monterey Bay. It worked, because we have been married since 1989. Our two children keep us busy, but we still love to hike, bike and swim together when we have time. The Westside is a perfect location for us!

Why Bruce Ramstad chose Santa Cruz

We have dreamed of having a house on the beach in Santa Cruz since we met in 1985. We love strolling along West Cliff, hiking up to the University, biking up and down the coast, and swimming at Cowell's Beach. When we found a house where we could see and hear the ocean, we were hooked. We hope eventually to retire here.

What makes this house unique

Stroll down the street to West Cliff and Natural Bridges State Beach. Watch the butterflies when they return in the winter. Take advantage of the many restaurants along Mission Avenue, in downtown, or on the wharf. If you're in the mood to stay home and cook, both New Leaf and Safeway grocery stores are minutes away. You can dine on the deck overlooking the park and the ocean, and roast marsh mellows as night falls in the fire pit in the back yard. In the morning walk up to Kelly's Bakery for a scone and a latte.

Take the cruiser bikes along West Cliff, or the wharf. Cruise the boardwalk and ride the Big Dipper. Take the boogie board down to the beach and ride the waves! Enjoy all that Santa Cruz has to offer.

Fantastic Family Time

Perfect place for hanging out with the fam bam! The garage is full of beach toys and bikes. The beautiful beach is a short walk down the street. The house is perfect; clean, homey, stylish and comfortable. The kitchen is so well supplied that you will just want to stay home every night and cook in. The location is so peaceful and quiet being right across from the state park, but an easy drive to town (especially if you avoid Mission St by sticking to Delaware.) A true home away from home. You won't be sorry if you book this place!

Awesome vacation home!

8 of us (4 couples) stayed at this vacation spot last weekend, and it was amazing! The location was perfect... 1 block from the beach and within a mile from restaurants and wine tasting. The patio was big enough to accommodate all of us and made for a relaxing evening outside. The house was very roomy, well kept, and clean, which was everything we needed. Dealing with the homeowners was a piece of cake- friendly and gracious. Overall- an excellent experience!

A Wonerful Retreat!

We are always looking for a special place to spend our once a year girls get away, and we certainly succeeded this year! Opening the front door we found a treasure. Everything was fresh, pretty, and very inviting. The garage is full of bicycles, helmets, boogie boards, ice chest, beach chairs and more. The home is spacious with games, puzzles, movies.... There are big windows that let in the light and view. We were treated by the Monarch butterflies who were just beginning to settle in the Natural Bridges Park across the street. Our entire group enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back in the future.

Keeps getting better

This is our third stay here. Each stay gets better and we feel more comfortable. When we arrived, the place was immaculate. You would never know that this is a vacation home with multiple visitors.

The owners always check in the second day to see if there are any issues. We complimented them that the home was never cleaner!

This fall we enjoyed the new deck furniture. BTW, the deck is one of our favorite spots.

Last spring, the owners asked for our inputs on the comforts of the beds. We told them them the current beds were great and please don't change them.

If you are looking for a home away from home, this is it.

What a wonderful place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed this beach house. The location is perfect, so close to the beach and the popular walking path. The house itself is nicely done with updated features as shown in the pictures online. We enjoyed the nice amenities from the beach towels, bikes, kitchen utensils, and personal bathroom supplies. The house was clean and well maintained. My entire family had a great time together. We will definitely be back!

Recently stayed at this property. We were to check in at 4:00 but when we arrived the cleaning people were still there. We finally got in at 5:00. The towels in one of the bathrooms were not changed and the 2 mattresses up in the loft were full of sand. I slept in the bedroom downstairs and don't think the bedding was changed as it smelled of BO. The kitchen was clean and the other bedrooms seemed to have clean linens. Location was good.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that you had a poor experience at our home. Everyone expects and should receive clean bedding, sheets and towels. Unfortunately, in this instance the cleaning crew was late and apparently missed the back bedroom and some of the towels. This is why we refunded your cleaning fee. We truly believe, based on conversations with our guests as well as the reviews from before and after your stay, that your experience was very unusual.
We have replaced the cleaning crew; the new crew understands they must arrive on time to ensure a thorough cleaning. Replacing the cleaners should prevent this from happening again. Again we apologize.
