Cozy Home in S. Haven
Nice, small home on a quiet, tree-lined street. Although it's not in the heart of the downtown or next to the beach, we found the walk quite easy. With a stroller, it took only 15 minutes to walk to the downtown area and maybe 30 minutes to the beach. This is the trade-off of getting a better rental rate vs. the pricey rental rates along the beach. But if you're vacationing in S. Haven, what's the rush, right? The walk was quite pleasant, but if you want to park at North Beach, which is very nice, it only costs $5 for the day....what a deal! The nice part about this place is that Jerry, the owner, does partial weekly rates, with a 3 day minimum. Seemed like the majority in South Haven require one week rentals. As a result, we got a very competitive rate on this unit for 4 nights, which was located in a quiet neighborhood and one that is very kid friendly. We loved the small tot lot across the street. Very convenient! The rental unit is on the main floor of the small house, while the owner and his wife live below. This was great, considering they were very attentive to our needs. We had a few requests early on and were able to quickly communicate with Jerry, whether it be via email, mobile, or texting. All requests were handled quickly to our satisfaction. The unit was recently remodeled, so they have great appliances, decor, and two window a/c units, that do a fine job of cooling the unit. They supply towels, linens, dishes, etc....though it should be noted there was no toaster or dishwasher. The dishwasher I could do w/out, but it would have been nice if they had a toaster. Maybe that's something that Jerry could purchase in the future. Plus maybe a small coffee table in front of the couch, as it was a challenge to find a spot for our morning java mugs. I especially enjoyed the added bonus of a picnic table in front of the unit, along with access to a charcoal grill. We made use of that bad boy the first night. Though don't forget to bring your own charcoal. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would stay there again if we returned. Perfect for a small family like ours....me, my wife, and an 18 mos. old. Though you could easily have two couples stay in the unit comfortably. Jerry is a great host and very flexible, so I feel confident in recommending his rental unit.
