Guestbook comments from the owner
We really enjoyed our stay at the ChaseHouse. Everything was very clean and comfortable for our family. The best part for us was the excellent location. Near to Bar Harbor, bike accessible to Acadia NP, off the main street on a quiet side street. Perfect! We enjoyed our lobster both at Beals and Thurstons, and I did a full survey of Lobster rolls! Our daughter picked blueberries for our blueberry pancakes one morning, and every time she walked out the door. We loved biking the carriage roads and took many hikes. Our favorite was the ocean path leaving from Sand Beach. Did the ferry trip from NE Harbor to the Cranberry Islands, our daughter loved the boat. Had two rainy days. Did the oceanarium and BBQ at Atlantic Brewing/ Mostly Meat and the second rain headed down to Bangor to do the Maine Discovery Museum. The interactive children exhibits kept us busy all day. Also something you might mention in your info was the children's playground right in the back yard.
I would definitely recommend your property to others and would return if we vacation in Maine again.
Bart Chase, Proprietor
The Chase Family has long been connected with Mount Desert Island and Hancock County, Maine. 'Mimi' Chase, the recenlty deceased matriarch of the Chase Family, and her husband Robert Woodward, 45 years ago first arrived in Maine from Florham Park, NJ to homestead and stake their roots at Green Lake in Ellsworth Maine. Eventually they purchased a summer cottage on Green Lake's shore edge where they opened their home to their three children and 7 grandchildren in the summer to learn to swim, kyak, fish, build a camp fire, hike and explore Acadia National Park, and just as importantly, learn to relax with family and friends and form everlasting memories. Bart, Mimi's youngest son, and his wife Ann, from Summit, NJ, are owners of the Chase House. They too have permanently extended their roots and enjoy time spent at their homes on Green Lake and on Mount Desert Island. Bart and Ann and their four children and two black labador retrievers Millie and Woogie are adventurous nature loving outdoors people who enjoy extended and short stays throughout the seasons at their homes in Maine to explore the granite Atlantic coast and Acadia Park trails. On any given day the Chase Family and their friends, and invited guests are likely biking, hiking, boating, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or simply wondering on a new uncharted adventure out and about in Acadia Park, at Green Lake, Schoodic, or elsewhere . If they are not in Acadia Park, they are likely playing bocci ball at the Lompac in Bar Harbor, watching a movie at Reel Pizza, or chill-laxing on the Shore Path dangling their feet over a granite cliff overlooking Frenchman's bay, or lounging on the hammock with Cadillac Mountain in eye sight. The Chase Family is pleased to welcome guests to lodge at the Chase House located in the Village of Otter Creek to spend time on the island and Acadia Park and to experience the many attractions, natural delights, and scenic, relaxing beauty that the Island offers.
