Our Villa Samonetto is a 'country-chic' rebuilt farmhouse. Located in a 400 year old borgo, on top of a hill, 10 minutes from the city of Pergola, next to the village Percozzone. With walls well over 1 meter in thickness at its base, the house is cool the whole summer. Luxury kitchen and bathrooms, a 5 by 10 meter swimming pool with a new 2012 built guest house (sleeps 2) a large garden with olive, pear and nut trees and grass. A pergola is built 3/4 around the house to enjoy the outside the whole summer. Located 35 km from the Adriatic coast, and 35 km from the medieval city of Gubbio.
Our villa has a little history...: Villa Samonetto (from the place where it is located) is an old restored farm. Many years ago there were two families of farmers living on the first floor, as you can see in our master bedroom there is still a fireplace which once belonged to the kitchen. At the ground floor level there were the stables for the animals. The second floor (under the roof) was a storage for the food in winter time (grains, beans, dried meat etc). The walls on the ground floor are more than 1 meter thick. This prevents the house to become too hot during summer time and it is a perfect insulation system.
Since our villa is on top of a hill there is always breeze in the summer.
A nice pergola (patio) has been build around the house since we love to have lunch & dinner, or brunch outside during summer time or a little vino and salame with family and friends.
Inside the villa : The villa has 4 large bedrooms, with beds for sleeping 8 people.
There are 2 bathrooms, a main one with a large walk in shower and bathtub, and a smaller one with shower on the 1st floor. Both bathrooms are spacious & have been completely redone.
There is a large living room with 2 sofas, stereo,TV, dvd player, with a large collection of movies/music. There is also a table and sitting chairs. A modern kitchen, electric oven, gas cooking place, dishwasher and big refrigerator and freezer, coffee maker etc.
In the canteen at the back there is a washing machine. Last but not least a brick oven pizza fireplace and a grill/bbq with the wood to use it.
The villa has a 5X10 meters private pool, with so called 'roman steps' o scala romana and all the inflatables, chairs, umbrella to relax. The pool has a fully automated system to keep chlorine levels, pH etc in check. Our gardner will be cleaning the pool 2-3 times a week, early morning.
Our new addition to the Villa is our new guest house close to the pool.It has a queen size bed, gym equipment and a bathroom with shower.
Please do remember...: Our villa is located in the country side in the Le Marche region. You have a 360 degree view, looking many kilometres over the italian hill. There is lots of nature around, meaning there can also be insects during summer time, especially sometimes mosquitos, so protect yourself with repellent late afternoon.
On the bedroom windows there are rudimentary mosquito nets but they work. The villa is also regularly treated for any insects that may build nests. No need to be scared of them, but just remember that you are in the country side.
Hello, Buongiorno!!! We are a family of 3, Theo, my husband is dutch and me Debora I'm italian (from Veneto region) and we have a daughter Chiara, teenager. For my husband's job we have been living in the US, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, and now back to the Netherlands, The Hague where we are currently living.
We speak english, dutch, italian and a little bit of spanish and french also.
Debora Guzzon purchased this villa in 2004
We have bought this farmhouse because we fell in love with the place, the people and the beauty of Le Marche region.
When we bought it, the house needed major improvements on the wall on the back, and there was no insulation and proper bathrooms pipe, no heating system etc.So we invested time and money every year to improve it and make it better and better. Now the villa is completely restored and you can live in it every month of the year. That will be our retirement home, so we love it and take care of it always, even living abroad. We have a caretaker, Sig.ra Carolina, a gardener Sig.Alfeo and Walterino our contractor. Together with us they take care of our villa.
Our villa is completely surrounded by hills, peaceful and private.
When you want more 'life', drive to the village of Pergola in 10 minutes for grocery shopping etc, and to the seaside (40 minutes also by car to Marotta) or to other little towns (San Lorenzo in Campo, Cagli, Senigallia). Just have the curiosity to go and discover le Marche little gems.
You have a beautiful pool, fully equipped to spend your sunny days there, and eating under the patio, with a spectacular view of the hills around.
Even when outside can be hot - especially in august- the house is cool because of its thick walls which preserve the fresh inside.
Although formally our house is residing under the town of Sassoferrato, our house is located in an old borgo, just outside the small village of Percozzone, and less than 10 minutes by car from Pergola, an old medieval town. In Pergola you will find 3 large supermarkets, restaurants, delicacy shops and on saturday the traditional market (Mercato) that attracts many people from the region.
Pergola has its own Hospital, Veterinary (in case you come with a pet) and all the community services. Few ATM/bank and trattorie/restaurants also are located in Pergola.
