Imagine waking up to the spectacular views of Whistler and Blackcomb on your vacation - winter or summer. Our Black Bear chalet is a beautiful and very bright home within walking distance to the exciting Whistler Village where there are 100’s of restaurants, shops and galleries – there is truly something for everyone! Or, if you prefer, just stay at the chalet and relax with a glass of wine, cook a big pot of spaghetti and enjoy the views with your friends and family. It’s up to you – it’s your vacation and all about having relaxation and fun!
The chalet is a very tastefuly and professionaly decorated home with a large and open floor plan. The living and dining area both offer incredible views from every window (and there are A LOT of windows), so at any spot in the room, you feel that you really are in the mountains! There is also plenty of comfortable and cozy seating (nothing is worse than uncomfortable furniture at the end of a ski day!) with a large 40” HD TV tucked away in a cabinet ready to catch up on your local sports teams or news. The dining room has a lovely, rustic antique dining table – large enough to seat everyone. The kitchen is also equipped with all of the necessary conveniences, including a GE Profile gas stove and oven – for the chefs, this is a GOOD thing! There is also a large and very private hot-tub located outside – a perfect place to ease the pain of those aching muscles. For the summer, there is a huge balcony with an unobstructed view of the mountains perfect for those summer days. There is also lots of chairs and a patio set for outside dining
When it is time to call it a day, there are 4 spacious and nicely decorated bedrooms “each” with their own full bathroom and fireplace – very private. All of the bedrooms are similar in size and layout and located on the lower level away from the living area. Bedroom #1 has 1 queen bed, bdrm, #2 has 1 king (or 2 twins), bdrm #3 has 2 twins (or 1 king) and bdrm #4 has 2 twins (or 1 king). There is enough room for 8 people to sleep (or four couples) all with a nice, soft duvet and comfortable pillows. There are also full size closets and windows in every bedroom. All of the bedrooms are private, clean and comfortable.
This is a great propery for any large or small group; friends or family. The great location and large living area in addition to the private bedrooms make it a perfect get away spot.

We are long time Whislter home owners, but live in Vancouver, and we have finally purchased our dream weekend get away! The chalet offers us the location and space that we wanted and needed for our large families. As we are all very active people, Whistler is the perfect spot for both winter and summer activities. Our chalet is so centrally located that we are within walking distance to everything - skiing, hiking, grocery stores, the Village... everything. We are so happy with our new purchase and can't wait to spend our first winter here as well as share the Whislter experence with those who choose to rent our home!
The Owner purchased this chalet in 2011
Central within the Whistler resort area.
There is the wonderful Scandinave Spa Whistler nestled in the mountains about a 2 minute drive from the chalet. It offers multiple jacuzzis, steam, mineral baths etc. for the decadent topping to holiday. It is also right next the the vast trail system of Lost Lake Park - where in the winter you can X-country or skate ski, snow shoe or hike; or in the summer walk or mountain bike - all ending up at a quaint little lake a comfortable walk distance away.
We (5 adults and 2 young children) spent a delightful week in this spacious, well-appointed, and conveniently located house in a quiet residential area. It is equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, especially the kitchen, and provides gorgeous views of the mountains from the upstairs living/dining room. All of the features were exactly "as advertised" (i.e., no unpleasant surprises). The information and support provided by the owners were outstanding. We can enthusiastically recommend the property to anyone seeking the features it provides and would gladly come again if the opportunity presented itself.
The whole family, 8 of us, stayed over the New Year Holiday and had a great time skiing. The house is located very close to the ski hill right near the shuttle route. The rooms each have a bathroom which is very nice and the kitchen has everything you need. A two car garage kept the cars warm at night and a nice Jacuzzi helped too. The owners were very helpful in giving us all the information we needed and we did not have to contact them for anything during the trip. I highly recommend this Chalet if you are thinking about a ski vacation in Whistler.
My wife and I stayed here with three other couples for Ironman Canada recently and the house worked out perfectly! The four master suites, each with its own bathroom, was the reason we chose this house and also the reason we would use it again! The furnishings were all well kept and functional, the large TV worked well and all the appliances ran like a charm. The super large outdoor deck with ample seating was a very welcomed retreat during the cool mornings and after a long day.
We also loved having access to a garage since there were four Ironman triathletes in the house and that gave us plenty of space to safely and securely store our bikes and some gear.
The location of the house was also great on Ironman race day. A short walk to the junction of Spruce and 99 was the perfect spot for our wives to hang out and wait for us to ride by coming from the swim and then again on the ride back from Callaghan. For the run it was an even shorter walk for them to set up chairs right on the run path near the bridge and creek and see us run by 2x-4x before making their way the one-mile to the finish line to meet us.
Black Bear Chalet has everything you'd want in a vacation rental in a beautiful location.
I led a group of five 55+ male skiers on our annual ski trip for 4 days of skiing in early March, and the house provided the perfect backdrop. The house is well designed, and well appointed and furnished for a group of up to eight people, with four good sized bedrooms, each with its own bath and gas fireplace, and a large, open living area. The house is in a residential neighborhood about a mile from Whistler village and, while you could walk to some places in winter, it's best to load everyone in a car for trips to the village, where parking in lots is reasonable and plentiful. The owner is a joy to work with, and it's clear the house is a well loved family home that makes for an very enjoyable stay. I recommend it without reservation.
I rented this house for a group I was entertaining on a ski vacation. There were 6 of us and the house was very comfortable. One great thing (and there are more than one!) is that each bedroom has its own private bathroom, which is great for a larger group. The views from the living room are amazing. I have stayed in some run down ski chalets and this place is not one of them. The house is newer, clean and very comfortable. Some cabins have hot and cold areas due to poor heat design, this place was always warm and cozy. The common area and kitchen are spacious and well appointed. Dealing with the owners was very easy. I would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay there again.
Overall, the Black Bear Chalet was a wonderful place to stay. We absolutely loved how close it was to Whistler Village, as well as to the local grocery store and spa (which was within walking distance, if one was so inclined!). The Chalet is in a neighborhood that has easy access to local ball fields and hiking trails into the mountains and along the river that runs through the village. It is also very close to the cross country ski paths in the area, which provided a nice change of pace to skiing each day!
The bedrooms were spacious, and we enjoyed being able to turn on our in-room gas fireplace and watch the flame while relaxing in bed after a long day of skiing and site-seeing. Also, the living room and dining room both held our entire party comfortably with plenty of comfortable seating for meals or game-playing.
We thoroughly enjoyed shopping in the local market down the street and cooking family-style meals for our group in the well-equipped kitchen. The grill also worked very well, and there isn't anything that beats grilling burgers on a second-level deck overlooking the Whistler/Blackcomb Ski areas.
The heated floors were a very nice touch that we did not take for granted.everyone loved the ability to get out of the shower or make breakfast barefoot without freezing.
Our group also very much enjoyed the hot tub right outside of the laundry/mud room, and the bathrooms to use to get in and out of the hot tub were a very nice touch. The hot tub fit six people comfortably, but we were able to get seven people in when needed. It was very nice to sit and relax in the hot tub after a long day of skiing and watch the snow fall in the neighborhood.
Amazing views of Whistler and Blackcomb from the entire living area, Whistler Village is witihin walking distance, as is the spectacular Scandinave Spa Whistler, Lost Lake Park for x-country skiing, snowshowing and hiking and the bus to the ski hill which takes you tthere in minutes.
