Overview

Brevard House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Den, Sleeps 8 in Beds (King, Queen, 4 Twin)

Round Mountain Lodge, a charming mountain home perched above Lake Jocassee on the edge of Gorges State Park, provides an amazing retreat from life's hectic pace. It is only 2 miles from 'The Wilds Camp and Conference Center' and Georges State Park, Frozen Creek access.

Set on the south side of Round Mountain between the quaint mountain towns of Brevard (17 miles) and Lake Toxaway, Round Mountain Lodge is not simply a house in the mountains, but a ''mountain home.''

The main living area boasts a cathedral ceiling and mountain views from a bank of south-facing windows. The fireplace, dressed in floral tapestry, dominates the living area. Warm wood graces interior walls. The downstairs bedroom holds a king sized bed; another large upstairs room boasts a comfy queen. All bedrooms have down comforters. The Bunk Room holds two sets of bunk beds, making Round Mountain Lodge the ideal lodging choice for two families who wish to vacation together.

The den, home to twin trundle beds, contains family games, puzzles and media equipment. Children can watch a DVD or satellite TV while adults share conversation in the quiet of the living area. Peruse the books in the ''Loft Library'' or venture onto the rock outcropping below to explore, enjoy the outdoors or make s'mores in the fire pit.

Watch the fog roll up the mountains from the porch swing. Discover one of six waterfalls within walking distance to the Lodge. All ingredients for the perfect mountain retreat are found amidst the tranquility and mountain splendor of the Blue Ridge Escarpment.

One of only 40 homes on the 1200 acres on Round Mountain, the Lodge boasts spacious rooms, comfortable and ample furnishings, and amenities that define it as a home rather than a ''rental unit''. This beautifully decorated home is amply supplied with accoutrements for the perfect mountain get-away. In any season, Round Mountain Lodge will call you back again and again.

Wonderful Christmas in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

Our family, which extended to include 8 adults, loved our Christmas time in the mountains at your beautiful home! Your pictures were exactly what we found and then some! You didn't include the "hillbilly" porch with the beautiful, lighted, natural chandelier and dragon flies in your photos. When we entered we said, "Wow." It was spotlessly clean and warm and beautifully decorated. We loved the blue Christmas lights and small lighted tree outside.

We experienced sunny and rainy weather up there. The first full day we walked (some drove) to your Rock Creek Falls with our dogs loving it the whole way. We found two trails, one to the top of the falls and the steeper trail to the bottom. What an adventure! During our stay we cozied up to your beautiful fireplace, listened to music with your great sound system, played games and did jigsaw puzzles, exchanged gifts around our decorated tree and nearly ate out on the porch it was so moderate. Everything we needed to pull off our Christmas morning and afternoon feasts was there in your well supplied kitchen! Our kids toured the Christmas Candlelight tour at Biltmore and we even did our traditional bookstore run on Christmas Eve day to the charming town of Brevard. Watching the fog and clouds on the mountains from your home was so calming and pleasurable.

Christmas day was bright and sunny, so after "dinner" we explored another waterfall off of the "Senior Citizen Trail". We laughed at the high regard you have for your senior citizens! It was a trek, but worth it to be off the beaten path and find a gorgeous waterfall hidden in the woods!

Needless to say, your home away from home was everything we were looking for in our celebration of Christmas in the mountains! Besides being beautiful with a great view, it was very comfortable with all 8 of us visiting there. We want to come back during another season and take in more of the mountains in your beautiful home. Thank you for providing the perfect spot for us to celebrate Christmas with our whole family!

Peaceful Winds

  • 5 of 5

My parents just left to return to Louisiana. I'm just now getting around to catching up with myself.

I want to thank you for sharing your mountain home with us last week. We made it there just in time to see the vibrancy of the leaves, some snow flurries, swirling winds, and then leaves floating around and falling to the ground towards the end of our stay. We went to Brevard, Mills River, and Asheville. We ate well, enjoyed the charm of Historic Downtown Brevard, and we snuggled around a fire inside for the last 2 days and nights. The view was beautiful, and the house provided for us all that we needed plus some. My parents and my husband were able to leave the city behind, relax, and breathe in some peaceful mountain air. So, thank you.

We LOVE the cabin decor… beautiful quilt work, all of the iris references, the "bear" signs and all the thoughtful and special personal touches. I have to say that one of my favorite pieces was on the terrace deck. The "chandelier" over the table was brilliant. I can see that you both make every attempt to honor your mountain space and your life there with your creations. Plus we enjoyed your sense of humor. That kind of living really resonates with us.

I know you will find your mountain home in good condition when you return. My father buffed inside the oven glass with ashes from the previous fire (who knew?) so we could enjoy the flames with the doors closed. We can all learn something from the previous generation.

Peace, health & blessings

Wonderful Holiday Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Round Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to spend a few days! The lodge is beautifully decorated and has everything you need...sheets, towels, all the dishes and pots and pans you could think of, a nice gas grill, even backpacks for going hiking. Our group of eight was very comfortable. I loved the views from the deck. We did lots of hiking. The hike to Round Mountain Falls a mile from the lodge is great. Just be prepared to climb down some ropes and a ladder. We also went to Sliding Rock Falls and Looking Glass Falls just north of Brevard, and Triple Falls, the site of filming for The Hunger Games. Brevard is a fun little town to walk around in. We had a nice casual meal at The Phoenix. They have good food and a very friendly staff. On our last day, we went zip lining at The Gorge, which was about an hour away in Saluda. It was awesome!! Our whole group highly recommends it.

Our trip to round Mountain Lodge was one of my favorite vacations ever! We hope to return.

Amazing views! Great cabin - especially the screened porch with porch swing!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely and relaxing holiday! Great cabin, plenty of space for family. Kitchen ware well stocked....no need for anything. Even pantry has spices, etc.! Hiked to local waterfall....beautiful! Had several lunches in town, able to get some local pottery and saw plenty of waterfalls within 30 minute drives. Even went canoeing and kayaking for the first time! GREAT vacation!!!

Owner's Response: We are always glad to hear about the great vacations our guests have. The town of Brevard has lovely places to spend time (when you are not on our porch with the view). Glad to hear that you made the hike to to the waterfall. It's one of the local sites that are walking distance from our mountain home that offers great vies and experiences. Thanks so much for your review. We hope to have you back!

Christmas Revelers

  • 5 of 5

We decided to rent Round Mountain Lodge for the holidays. What a perfect setting. The

Owners had decorated it for us and along with our own pre-lit Christmas tree the setting was festive. The accommodations are outstanding. The owners treat it like their full-time

Home and furnish it accordingly. Walks on the trails to some waterfalls plus several trips to

Brevard kept us busy. We even attended a Christmas Eve Church service. One piece of advice is to shop before arriving as it is a considerable distance to a grocery store.

We had firewood delivered for the lovely fireplace.

The owners are very available and helpful.

Fall family vacation

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Round Mountain Lodge. The house looks just like the pictures and we were very pleased. It is secluded, but feels safe. We spent a lot of time on the porch just relaxing, drinking coffee and reading. I did a lot of cooking and I had all of the things I needed in the well stocked kitchen. We liked playing the cd collection while cooking and dining. I especially liked the Tony Bennett cd so I purchased it when I got home. We liked the fire pit at night, that was fun. We hiked to some nearby waterfalls and that was a treat. Spent some time driving through Pisgah National Forest one day and another day drove to Cashiers and The Highlands. Very comfortable and inviting home away from home feel.
