Have it all – a two bedroom/two bath condo with fully equipped kitchen, built in washer/dryer, outstanding amenities, walk to the beach/restaurants, breathtaking views (both day and night) from the quiet side of Galveston’s Seawall Blvd. This unit also features some of the best beds you will ever find at a rental property. The panoramic view from the porch, living room and master bedroom is from the top non-penthouse floor of the Emerald By The Sea building. This spectacular view features a continual flow of ship traffic moving in and out of Galveston Bay into one of Texas oldest seaports. The master bedroom features a king size Select Comfort dual control bed, and the second bedroom has a queen size bed featuring the highly-preferred Tempurpedic mattress.
This unit’s beach friendly décor includes three flat screen TV’s (including a 46” flat screen Toshiba TV in the main room), a fully-equipped kitchen with a large refrigerator/freezer and a built-in washer/dryer. Building amenities include a huge “infinity” swimming pool that overlooks Stewart Beach and the Gulf of Mexico , a helpful concierge desk, fitness center, game room (with pool table, Texas hold-em table , etc.), wine room for private parties, and a movie theatre (bring your own DVDs or watch your favorite game on a really big screen ). Chili’s family restaurant, New York pizza and Subway restaurants are on-site.
It is interesting to note, an interior photo of our unit was only one of two such photos included in the 'a condo for your vacation' Road Trip: Galveston article in the April-May 2011 edition of Texas Live Magazine.

Grandpa Joe especially enjoys taking walks on the beach with his family. He says, 'there are a lot fewer swimmers in December but a lot more seashells'. He noted that his granddaughters, Chloe and Maeve, are better at finding seashells, but his grandsons Luke and Kyle like to fish more. His other seashore buddies, Todd and Scott, also enjoy joining 'Mr. Joe' on family fishing outings.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2008
When our family was growing up, we lived in Lubbock, Texas. Galveston was always one of our favorite places to visit. We loved the local history, the beach, the big ships , the fresh seafood – and how all of this contrasted to our home in West Texas. Sometimes we would leave after work and drive our camper van into the late hours and end up camping on the beach in Galveston. The more we went, the better we liked the area and someday wanted to upgrade our experiences with a place of our own. Now the kids are grown and there are grandchildren. We no longer live in West Texas and are closer to the Texas Coast. We look at our Galveston condo as a long term family investment. When we furnished this unit, we chose first class accessories – furniture, beds, TV’s - the same high quality items that we would want in our own homes. We always expected to offset a portion of these premium expenses with rental income. So when grandpa went condo shopping in Galveston, he wanted a place that had great views, wonderful amenities, on the beach, and nearby the historic Strand restaurant/entertainment area. The Emerald fits all these wants perfectly. We hope this condo will not only be a good investment of money – but also an investment in great family memories. A place that can be enjoyed by our children, grandchildren and possibly even to our grandchildren’s children.
Joey, just wanted to say thank to sharing your beautiful condo with my daughter my niece and I last week. We had a wonderful time and your space was just perfect for the three of us! The view is amazing and the amenities at the Emerald are top notch. Everything is kept up beautifully. Thanks so much. Robyn
First time back to the island in 10 years. We were not disappointed at all. The owner was very easy to work with and the property was very nice. Look, just read the other posts and you get the idea.
Let me just add a couple of items that worked very well for me.
1. Bikes: big thing is FREE locked and covered parking for the car. They also have a locked and covered separate storage to keep your bikes (very handy). Galveston is a lot more fun on a bike.
2. In reading I noticed the two top types of bed mattress ( one in each room) that I have been wanting to try for a replacement here at home. Odd way for a tryout, but worked fine.
Will bring grandchildren as beach is just across the street.
The people who work at the Emerald are very nice as well.
We recently stayed at the Emerald for a month and it was perfect! We loved the condo! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and prepare our meals. It's in a great location and has a wonderful view. We definitely miss the view. We hope to stay there again next time we visit!
We had a lovely visit to this seaside condo. All the positive reviews made us choose this in the first place. They were all true, the place was so clean and very thoughtfully laid out with absolutely everything you could wish for in a holiday rental. The apartment itself has views over Galveston town looking toward the port, very interesting sitting on the balcony 13 floors up drinking a glass of wine and watching the world go by! The complex itself was also very well appointed and had the friendliest staff. Even though the outside temperature was really warm the pool was too cold to venture in to, but at a different time of year would be fabulous to lay in and look out over the gulf of Mexico. Lots of really comfortable seating and loungers by the pool so I was still able to sunbathe and read a book. We hired out the cinema room one evening and watched a family movie, that was fun. There is also a games room which we enjoyed, we had family competitions playing pool and table football.
We enjoyed Galveston and we tried to do as much as we could whilst still relaxing! We visited moody gardens as they had just put up their festival of lights, it was very pretty and felt very festive. We did the treasure island tour (pink train) which was very informative and a great way to see and learn all about Galvestons past. We played on the beach and my boys loved the sand dunes across and along a bit from the condo. We went for dinner (Greek food) at the harbour side and watched one of the big cruise ships leaving port, dolphins were leaping about beside the ship! We also toured the Ocean Star, (oil rig) that was really interesting too!
All in all a great family vacation and would recommend you stay there. Only negative was the Internet connection was not as high speed as we're used to and with a teenage boy and husband wanting to watch movies online it was frustrating for them that they couldn't!
My husband, my mother and I spent a glorious week in #1302. We found the condo clean, beautifully decorated and very well stocked. There was ample paper supplies, cleaning supplies and even some spices and toiletries. The kitchen had every pot, pan, dish and cooking utensil you could ever need.
From the deck, there are amazing daytime and nighttime views and we enjoyed watching the ships and cruise ships travel the waterway. The beach is across the road, and McDonalds and Walgreens are within walking distance.
The beds were very comfortable and there is ample closet space.
The pool, exercise room, hot tub, game room , and theater are high- end.
I would recommend this unit,. it has everything one would need to have an enjoyable stay in Galveston.
We really enjoyed our stay! The condo was well-furnished and and kept very clean. It felt like home. The view was great, it was so peaceful sitting on the balcony. We would definitely recommend this condo to others. Side note... My 3 yr old son was so thrilled with the puppy waiting for him on his bed, he carried him around everywhere. The concierge was helpful and the 6th floor amenities were great, we swam and I used fitness center. With the comfort of this condo and the many things to do in Galveston, we were really impressed with how much Galveston has improved as a vacation spot. Ready to come back!
We loved this condo! It was clean and beautiful. We will definitely think about booking it again. Our only feedback was that the beach was a little far walk for our 2 year old, but the wonderful condo and beautiful pool made up for it. It really ended up being not that big of a deal. The owner was nice and helpful giving great recommendations for food and attractions.
