About Jill Jensen
I'm a fifth generation Australian, born in Adelaide where I stayed till I decided to travel to see the rest of the world. I spent most of my time overseas in Europe and North America but also traveled to Asia, New Guinea and later Cuba.
After returning to Australia, & being a keen snow skier, I worked in a ski resort for two seasons and then decided to go to Sydney. Once there I fell in love with the harbour, beaches and the weather and ended up staying and buying a property at Balmoral Beach.
I later married and had a son who kept me pretty busy whilst I was still running my own business in finance.
I'm a keen sailor and love the outdoors, including camping in the bush and 4WDriving.
Time went by and I recently sold my business and am now semi retired and running Balmoral Beachside Getaway!!.
I love giving tips and advice to my guests about out-of-the- way places most tourists don't hear about and the 'must see' things to do & see & how to get there.
Jill Jensen purchased this studio in 1984
Why Jill Jensen chose Balmoral Beach
When I arrived in Sydney my first job was as a representative for a wine company. My sister soon joined me here and we decided to look for a bigger flat to share. One day I invited her to come with me to see a bit more of the area as I drove around visiting my customers. As we were driving down the hill to see the owner of Balmoral Cellars my sister exclaimed 'What a great view - I'd love to live here!' I replied 'Forget it, we'll never be able to afford it!'
A week later whilst looking through the paper for flats to rent she found one for us to look at in Mosman. We met the agent at her office and she drove us here to Balmoral, much to our surprise. As soon as we saw the location, the big house and wonderful magnolia tree in bloom in the front garden, plus the proximity to the beach we said 'We'll take it ' ---before we even went inside.!
More than 10 years later I bought it and moved in after renovating and now love it so much I never want to leave!.
What makes this studio unique
The property is unique because during the week and in the cooler months you feel as if you are living in a quiet seaside village despite only being 10-20 minutes away from one of the world's most beautiful, bright and cosmopolitan cities. The area is teeming with native wildlife, including cockatoos, kookaburras, lorrikeets, possums & flying foxes.
The accommodation is quiet and private and is very well situated with a large park opposite to the south and the clean sandy beach & crystal clear water only metres away to the east. The area is very safe, public transport is almost at the doorstep, and there are many delightful cafes and restaurants only a short level walk away, including a great fish & chip shop where you can either eat in or take your food away to eat on the beach.
Alternatively If you want a short bus ride , or, if feeling energetic, a walk up the hill, you can browse through Mosman village's many boutiques and galleries or stop for a drink or lunch at one of the many eateries in the village.
World famous Taronga Zoo .is also nearby, - either a good bushwalk along tracks surrounded by native flora punctuated by stunning harbour views or a short 5-10 minute bus ride.
