Overview

Shenandoah Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cozy, luxurious, peaceful log cabin adjacent to a national forest, near river.

This cute cabin is like a resort and we are proud to be "Virginia Green Certified". Immaculate 1280 sq ft. log cabin was built in 2009 and served as a private residence until 2014.

It’s literally a stone’s throw to a series of Civil War hiking trails and into the George Washington National Forest that has beautiful streams with trout, amazing wildlife and even a few waterfalls.

Less than 2 miles to the Shenandoah River boat launch, minutes from Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, New Market Battlefields, Shenandoah National Park and wine tasting. Massanutten and Bryce resorts are approx. 30 minutes away; both provide a wide range of year round activities; golf, skiing, water sports, indoor water park, zip lining, 5 star spa treatments, various restaurants and nightlife. Enjoy access to these top attractions and more, yet have the peace and quiet that comes from being hidden off the beaten path away from the crowds.

Cabin is easy to get to any time of year and offers a level ½ acre lot, enclosed private backyard and long driveway with ample parking for your boat/motorcycle trailer or RV.

2 bedrooms both equipped with queen sized beds and 2 full spa like bathrooms. The kitchen is fully outfitted with new high quality pots, pans, utensils, bake-ware, Crockpot, tea kettle, paper products, foil, plastic wrap and anything else you can think of.

When you arrive, you may be tempted to grab a cold ‘something or other’ and pull up a seat on the covered porch overlooking a small flower garden, an organic herb garden and a large grassy area with fruit trees. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the gardens seasonal offerings.

Inside, beautiful brand new furnishings throughout provide a comfortable, inviting space for you to kick back and hang out. The family room offers a large, comfortable leather sofa, TV with DVD player and video library, internet access and of course a rock faced gas fireplace to cuddle up next to on a cold night.

End your day out on the deck barbequing on the gas grill and enjoy a cocktail in the comfortable conversation area overlooking a large serene, enclosed backyard. The 6 person hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring and offers incredible star gazing.

This is the perfect place to spend your vacation – quiet time alone or making memories with those you hold dear. That’s why we call it “The Great Escape”. Bust free from the craze and enjoy!

Why Linda & Bob Jarrell chose Shenandoah

We have traveled extensively and selected this property for its charm, location and offerings. We felt like this is a cabin that we'd enjoy staying at - and we kept that in mind throughout the process of preparing it for your stay! We want you to have a great time, be comfortable and feel well taken care of.

This cabin is the quintessential mountain home featuring cedar log siding and an amazingly peaceful, beautiful location. Built in 2009, the interior is stylish and current with decor that mirrors the season.

Located near everything, yet secluded, peaceful away from the crowds.

What makes this cabin unique

We own and manage our own property to give our guests the best experience possible. No hidden fees.

Walk to the national forest, trout fishing, historical Civil War trails. Conveniently located near many Shenandoah Valley attractions, but away from the crowds tucked into a quiet, established residential neighborhood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

..." We had such a great time here in the cabin. The area is peaceful and drinking coffee on the deck is great. Walked to Catherine Furnace, drove up to Skyline Drive and enjoyed awesome views. Our dog loved the fenced in yard, the hot tub was a treat. Linda was very very helpful and she treated us like VIP guests."

Very comfortable, very clean, well appointed.

FANTASTIC!!! Loved this cabin. Very comfortable, very well appointed. Linda was easy to get a hold of, very attentive without being imposing. Our long hikes in the forest were enjoyed by all, especially our yellow lab Charlie. Nobody wanted to leave, we felt very much at home.

Charming & Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect cabin for our trip! Myself, 3 other adults, and 2 small dogs stayed here for 4 nights/5 days. The layout of the house is perfect as well as the amenities (hot tub, gas fireplace, and fenced in back yard for the dogs!) The house was extremely well-maintained and the owners were extremely thoughtful. They had a basket of dog goods, extra towels for the hot tub, a detailed binder of things to do/places to eat, as well as an assortment of kitchen items. Additionally, they were very welcoming and generous.

The pictures do not do it justice - everything was nicer than we had anticipated and would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

Perfect to see Shenandoah, trout fish, and shop!

  • 5 of 5

The owners have undersold this house. It is conveniently located right at the entrance to the George Washington National Forest where you can see the Catherine Furnace. Across the road from the Furnace is Cub Run. It is a stocked trout stream with crystal clear waters. Go past the Furnace a little ways till you come to a small bridge. There you will find a pool of water perfect for trout fishing. The water rolls off the rocks into the pool, and you can see the trout waiting for food to enter. We caught some trout, and had a blast. The house is also a quick three miles from access to the Shenandoah River. You can launch a boat there. The city of Luray is close as well, and offers more trout fishing via Hawksbill creek.

We visited Willow Grove Farm Market, and picked up fresh eggs, butter, bacon, creme, cheese, steaks, and lemonade. They also have jellies, salsa, vegetables that are in season, and some other items. A little further up the road next to the co-op is a store that sells fresh bread, and lettuce, as well as some very good lamb sausage.

We visited the cities of Luray, Elkton, and Harrisonburg. Elkton has the Log Cabin BBQ, and the smell is awesome as well as the ribs. We ate at the Union Station Restaurant and Bar in Harrisonburg. There you will want to try the crab dip. Luray is the closer option that has groceries, stores, and restaurants. The Luray Caverns are on the edge of town. We ate at the Gathering Grounds, and Uncle Bucks. Both had nice meals.

The house is very clean, and has a big open area. A big kitchen island, and the fridge has filtered water tap, and ice tap. Two porches; covered in front, and uncovered in the back. A nice fenced in area goes around the side and back of the house. The owners were extremely nice, and answered any questions we had. The house is very dog friendly, and the owners made sure of it. The houses in the area are also well kept properties. We had fun pointing out star constellations as well. Ask yourself when is the last time you could see so many stars? I will definitely be staying there again!
