THE GREAT ESCAPE. NEAR EVERYTHING YET OFF THE BEATEN PATH.

Shenandoah Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cozy, luxurious, peaceful log cabin adjacent to a national forest, near river.

This cute cabin is like a resort. Immaculate 1280 sq ft. log cabin was built in 2009 and served as a private residence until 2014.

It’s literally a stone’s throw to a series of Civil War hiking trails and into the George Washington National Forest that has beautiful streams with trout, amazing wildlife and even a few waterfalls.

Less than 2 miles to the Shenandoah River boat launch, minutes from Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, New Market Battlefields, Shenandoah National Park and wine tasting. Massanutten and Bryce resorts are approx. 30 minutes away; both provide a wide range of year round activities; golf, skiing, water sports, indoor water park, zip lining, 5 star spa treatments, various restaurants and nightlife. Enjoy access to these top attractions and more, yet have the peace and quiet that comes from being hidden off the beaten path away from the crowds.

Cabin is easy to get to any time of year and offers a level ½ acre lot and long driveway with ample parking for your boat/motorcycle trailer or RV.

2 bedrooms both equipped with queen sized beds and 2 full spa like bathrooms. The kitchen is fully outfitted with new high quality pots, pans, utensils, bake-ware, Crockpot, tea kettle, paper products, foil, plastic wrap and anything else you can think of.

When you arrive, you may be tempted to grab a cold ‘something or other’ and pull up a seat on the covered porch overlooking a small flower garden, an organic herb garden and a large grassy area with fruit trees. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the gardens seasonal offerings.

Inside, beautiful brand new furnishings throughout provide a comfortable, inviting space for you to kick back and hang out. The family room offers a large, comfortable leather sofa, TV with DVD player and video library, internet access and of course a rock faced gas fireplace to cuddle up next to on a cold night.

End your day out on the deck barbequing on the gas grill and enjoy a cocktail in the comfortable conversation area overlooking a large serene, enclosed backyard. The 6 person hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring and offers incredible star gazing.

This is the perfect place to spend your vacation – quiet time alone or making memories with those you hold dear. That’s why we call it “The Great Escape”. Bust free from the craze and enjoy!

Guestbook comments from the manager

..." We had such a great time here in the cabin. The area is peaceful and drinking coffee on the deck is great. Walked to Catherine Furnace, drove up to Skyline Drive and enjoyed awesome views. Our dog loved the fenced in yard, the hot tub was a treat. Linda was very very helpful and she treated us like VIP guests."

Great property in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful cabin, was very clean on arrival and had everything you could need for a great stay. The beds were comfortable, and what a treat to be in a place where there is NO light polution whatsoever at night time. The kitchen was better stocked with utensils and appliances than our own kitchen at home and we wanted for nothing. There were some great little touches such as smores waiting for us and we felt right at home from the first minute. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. No cable TV, but lots of DVDs to watch for all age groups and tastes. When the WiFi didn't work on arrival, Linda moved heaven and earth to make it work and once it was resolved no further problems. Our kids (6 and 8) loved the place as well and didn't want to leave.

The location is great. Remote, but plenty to see, do and eat very nearby. The Skyline drive is beautiful and if you have kids don't miss the activities at Massanutten which is about a 20 minute drive.

All in all a great place to stay.

Loved it so much. Would love to return with more time to see more sights. For a first visit it was very good. The cabin was well equipped, cozy and very clean. Especially loved the hot tub. Will definitely recommend to others wanting to stay in the Shenendoah Valley.

Very nice property...great weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great stay at the Great Escape cabin. The cabin itself is really nice-- everything is new and they have provided lots of little touches (hot tub towels, wine glasses, etc.). It was very clean at our arrival, and everything worked well and was in great shape. They were very welcoming to our dog and provided dog bowls, towels, shampoo, treats, etc. Linda and Bob were easy to work with and helpful in asking if we needed anything, as well as accommodating our arrival and departure needs. The location is about 30 mins to 2 different skyline drive entrances, and about 10 mins to the nearest canoeing/river company. Several towns to go eat in were about 20-30 mins away. We would definitely stay here again!

The property is gorgeous and picturesque!

  • 5 of 5
The property was immaculate and provided all the amenities we could want. Linda was incredibly accommodating - she checked in with us upon arrival and throughout our visit to make sure that we had everything we needed. The house was centrally located for all the activities we wanted to do - Luray Caverns and the entrance to Skyline Drive were a short drive away. I would highly recommend the Great Escape!

Great time, no complaints!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at this lovely cabin. Linda was great at checking in but not being overly attentive. We noted a wasp nest starting to form and she came and took care of it right away.
Our favorite part was the hot tub - the jets were wonderful.
The beds were comfortable and everything was clean and smelled great.
The location was good too. We did Shenandoah park, Luray, and a quick visit down to Monticello.
If we come back this way, we would stay again!

Our new favorite spot!

  • 5 of 5
We found our new favorite spot. The cabin is simply beautiful and is better in person than described on the site. We felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay. We enjoyed several hikes and afterwards the deck, bbq and hot tub were amazing. This was a super relaxing trip which is just what we needed.

We love this place and plan to return again and again.
