Originally an artist's studio situated in the grounds of a privately owned family Villa in an inner city conservation area with a beautiful garden of two acres with cypresses and olives and a good sized swimming pool. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance and a bus stop 2 minutes from the gates. The Studio has a large lounge and dining area. There is a double/twin bed which is screened off from the rest of the room, and also a sofa-bed and a cot for a baby. The kitchen and bathroom are separate rooms. The Studio which is quite apart from the Villa has a little outside terrace for dining and a barbecue is available. You have full use of the garden. Private parking is on the property. The secluded swimming pool (not used by the Villa), with poolside loungers and a shady arbour with table and chairs, is close by. There is a laundry house in the grounds for your use with washing machines and dryer. The property has good lighting at night and high security. Scroll on down

It is within 3 minutes walk from the gates of the property to a bus stop, 5 minutes from food shops, and 10 minutes drive from the Firenze Certosa exit on the Autostrada A1. Further details for this vacation house rental in Florence, Italy

When you arrive: at the estate you come to the main gates. Press the button and they will open automatically. Go up the drive and see the Studio on your left with its invitation to enter and make yourselves at home. Fresh flowers, a bottle of Chianti with a corkscrew and two glasses will be waiting for you for...a good start. You will also find a book giving useful instructions and information on the accommodation, recommending shops, restaurants, and transport. If you need any further help, information or advice please don't hesitate to ask at the Villa where you will be welcomed and where they speak English. They will show you where the separate laundry facilities are with washing machines, drier and clothes lines. On your last morning you can arrange to leave your luggage in the Villa should you wish to spend more time exploring the city or do some last-minute shopping. Arrival time is after 13:30 p.m. and departure is by 10:30 a.m. Scroll on down

Five minutes walk: away you have all the necessary food shops and one of the best, typical Tuscan restaurants in Florence, 'Ruggero,' which is a well-kept Florentine secret. A 10 walk takes you to the Belvedere Fort and from there to all the best sites, via the Ponte Vecchio. You can also catch a bus from either end of the street and this will take you directly across the city and on to Fiesole, a charming little Roman hill town much favoured by 19th century English tourists. Or take a 6 minute bus trip to 'Bellosguardo' where Elizabeth Barrett Browning had her villa and gaze at the whole of Florence spread out below you. The seaside, with its miles of sandy beaches, is about an hour away, and a day trip is easily possible by train from Florence to Venice or Rome. Be Florentine and buy your train, bus, museum and theatre tickets from travel agencies in the city centre; it saves a lot of time and hassle. Scroll on down

Don't forget that food shops in Italy: open early at 08:00 in the morning and then shut firmly from 13:00 until between 4 and 5 in the afternoon. They close in the evening around 20:00. However, there is a supermarket which is open all day. All shops are closed on Sundays, except for cake and ice-cream shops which are only open in the morning. Restaurants serve lunch from 12:00 mid-day till about 14:00, but not much later (siesta time...), and dinner at night usually between 20:00 and 22:00. Cafes and pizzerias stay open later.

Other Activities: Museums, art galleries, cathedral, historic monuments, shops and restaurants

This is a private property; we are not a company or an agency. We have enjoyed having visitors to stay for over 10 years. The guest book has appreciative comments, useful information and advice. Some recent comments: '...your garden Studio in Florence was the most enjoyable place we have rented in Europe and the best equipped...' A.K.K., Moss Beach, CA, USA. 'We enjoyed our stay enormously, as usual - it really is the only place to stay in Florence.' S.D.Polstead, Suffolk, UK 'The setting was just out of this world. A real heaven...We were so impressed with the accommodation and location that we are already planning a return visit next year.' S.Stevens, Fife, Scotland. 'It was so peaceful at the villa... a lovely place to stay in after the hectic days in the art galleries.' G.James, Bath UK. See also property 39

Better Than Advertised

Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We spent two memorable and enjoyable weeks at the studio. The property was like a home away from home.
The staff was friendly, the location exquisite, and the facilities were cozy, comfortable and properly maintained. We had easy walking to cab stands, bus stops, shops, museums, restaurants, and the city center. We have every intention of returning.

Beautiful location, stunning city

Review Submitted: July 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
I booked the studio as a surprise for my husbands 40th birthday, we both loved it, the location is superb, the gardens are beautiful and as animal lovers we found the company of Otto, Leone & Nerina (family dogs) a plus - when you arrive give Leone & Nerina a tit bit and they will get used to you fast! The pool was lovely and used alot! We would sightsee in the morning and fall asleep under the olive trees by the pool in the afternoon - bliss! Florence is enchanting and we didn't get time to see it all so will be back!

Suberb holiday in romantic and quiet location.

Review Submitted: January 22, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
Outstanding location in Florence. 15 mins walk from the nearest museum in a leafy embassy style district. Spent an idyllic two weeks here with a perfect blend of culture, sightseeing, trips to Tuscan towns (hired a car but flew into Pisa) and sunny afternoons by the pool after a morning at the galleries and museums.
September had mixed weather with some periodic downpours so it was lovely to be so close to town that you could take advantage of bad weather to be indoors and be home in 15 mins to jump in the pool.
Downsides - The studio is basic - a two ring stove so you won't whip up too many gourmet meals. We were able to barbeque under the loggia beside the pool and found so many fantastic restaurants in town that this was hardly an issue. Lots of mosquitos in Florence during September but we found out too late that they bite during the day so they probably gorged while we were snoozing by the pool and were not after all hiding in a dark corner of the bedroom waiting for us to fall asleep. The pool is not heated - some brisk swimming may be required if you leave it until 5pm (when it's in shadow) to jump in!
Pisa airport chaotic and luggage remained on the tarmac in London courtesy of alitalia which took a while to sort out. It's worth getting extremely shirty.
Upsides - it is so close to town and yet so removed and peaceful it is fantastic. Very large grounds and a dovecot full of white doves to boot.
Caveat - I stayed in Summer 2003 and not 2007 as this is the latest drop down option available on the site. We did leave Florence feeling like we knew it very well after two weeks. Thoroughly recommend this and the other property in the grounds on this site.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your good review and kind comments.
I notice that you haven't visited us since 2003. There have been many improvements in the last five years including air-conditioning.
The Villino (No 39) is the one with a two burner stove, a microwave, a fridge etc. The Studio (No 38) has a separate kitchen with a big cooker with four burners and an oven, a 6 foot fridge with freezer, and microwave as can be seen on the site details.
I can't do anything about the mosquitos but we supply anti-mosquito products to use inside and out. We only have the pool available from May to October so it's not heated but it gets the sun all day.
Why not come again!
