Daniel purchased this condo in 2009
Ko Olina Resort is located on the West Shores of Oahu, the sunny side of the island.
Luxurious and elegantly designed furnishings of our home and the amenities of the Beach Villas makes this place the most memorable vacation destination.
Wish I had time to leave a longer review, but this was a great vacation, topped by amazing accommodation. Daniel was fast and curious when we made the booking and answered all our questions.
Our flight was delayed, and we didn't land till after 1am local time. I called Blayne at our layover, and he made sure our rental car would be there, and met at at almost 3am to let us in, and show us around. Can't get that sort of treatment at a 5 star hotel.
Our kids loved the Lagoon, and although we toured the island some, everyone was very happy to stay at the resort, swim in the pools, and spend the day on the beach.
The resort staff were also great. No issues with security as noted in some other reviews.
The pictures don't do the accommodation or the resort any justice. You have to see it to believe it.
Thanks again Daniel - we're already planning our trip back!
We have 4 kids, 2 boys , 2 girls and we brought my Parents on their first trip to Hawaii. Amazing location, Oahu can be busy and that might appeal to a lot of people, some prefer Maui for the slower pace, here you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
Our Lagoon was a mini Maui, quiet uncrowded and personal. Disney is next door with the Marriott and full of Mickey and kids activities, my Daughters and wife went to the Disney spa for nail treatment. Great place for young kids with pools and jacuzzis to enjoy.
We found time to go to Pearl Harbour and drive to North Shore but spent more time than we planned at the Condo and enjoyed the sunsets and friendly resort.
Absolute paradise!! The unit is just as described with breathtaking views and very comfortable accommodations! Blain, our greeter did a terrific job showing us around and giving suggestions! Traveling to activities on the other side of the island was definitely a challenge given Honolulu's traffic, but we were so happy we did not stay in the very hectic Waikiki area! This spot was PERFECT!! My kids did not want to leave! Would definitely stay here again! Mahalo Daniel!
We just spent a week with two other couples in this unit and absolutely loved everything about it and the Beach Villas. From the minute we walked in, we were impressed by its luxury, location, views, comfort, and immaculate care. We loved that the entire wall of the kitchen and living area slide open to make the large, covered lanai totally open to the living space. The lanai offered shade on the inner half at all times. We felt so much privacy by being on this level, while having gorgeous panoramic views of the lagoon and ocean, and aerial views of the beautiful pools and gardens (especially pretty when lit at night!) The King-size pillow-top bed and bedding were heavenly, as was leaving our bedroom window open every night to enjoy the sounds of the ocean and the wonderful night air. The Beach Villas and their lagoon are much quieter and more private than the other Ko Olina resorts, as you must use your room key to enter the grounds, buildings, work-out room, and to use the elevators. We enjoyed the privacy of this feature. This entire area and 1.5-mile beachfront walkway felt extremely safe both day and night with never a doubt about security. One reviewer commented on the lighting in this condo. The lighting is gorgeous and on high-end dimmers, which CAN be clicked off completely after dimming; and we had no problem at all with this or with reading at night in the living area. If you are not familiar with these switches, just ask Daniel, the manager. Same with TVs...all 4 worked great, as did wifi! All the Beach Villas' staff were so friendly, and this condo's managers, Daniel and Robin, are extremely helpful with any questions you may have. The little town of Kapolei is only 3 miles south with conveniences like Costco, Target, Walmart, Safeway, lots of restaurants, etc.; and the little ABC market and Deli, Starbucks, and other restaurants are within walking distance. The only traffic we encountered was near Honolulu, so plan accordingly if going to the city! This was the perfect escape! We look forward to returning to this condo and cannot recommend it highly enough!!
7 people, age 12-81. Xmas, New Year 2013.
Very big side-on ocean view (new construction next door, may be coming 2014)
Huge lanai, lots of armchairs
Calm, tasteful, tropical furnishings, soft towels, crisp sheets
Sofa bed ok
Good storage for suitcases, groceries
Soundproofed from above, to the sides and to corridor
Beautiful Bali sliders create 10-12ft opening to lanai (but no screens, lotta bugs)
Cool travertine floors in main living, lanai
Very clean (very dusty fake plants need replacing or serious wash)
Christmas decor (small tree, ornaments) to recognize the season but not overboard
Free parking big enough for minivan
Daniel (manager) attentive when contacted
- $20 fee each for losing a plastic card key (we were not warned)
- 4 keys max no matter how many of you, but must have key for exterior gates/doors/parking/elevators (is Ko Olina safe???)
- most of the Even Beach Tower (BT) villas (this is 704) face near due S, so lanai is VERY hot from 9am onwards (no sunset view, btw). Couldn't sit out for long. Odd-number BT villas (703 etc) face N (very little sunshine til sunset). Pick your poison! Ocean Tower (OT) has more units facing close to W.
- lots of units, but no amenities like sundries, shops, coffee bar
- both Towers very near the beach - no advantage to being in BT
- almost all the Even BT rooms and almost every room in the OT face out over a pool. OT has the "quiet"/"lap" pool, so fewer kids. BT has the general pool, nice size/landscaping, but on 7th Floor we were disturbed a LOT by kids. Can't blame them for screeching with delight, but it's not what we wanted. OT might be better.
- lots of mosquitoes - concierge warned us "no screens so keep things shut tight". Not ideal in paradise (doesn't happen in Maui)
- Ko Olina pretty, the surrounds not so much and terrible traffic
Too many niggles for $$$
- no charging privileges arranged for us at the bar
- both safes locked. Daniel said they had been so for weeks. So, er, fix them?
- 6 beach towels, til we asked
- 6 dining chairs (unit sleeps 8)
- no tidy-up or fresh anything during our 12-day stay
- no toilet brushes/cleaner/spare rolls
- no HD signal on huge HD tv
- kitchen, dining lights did not turn off (sofabed user had mood lighting all night)
- main room way too dim to read
- alarm clock dials illegible because too dim
- pre-set a/c but unsteady temps - hot to cold to hot
Didn't want to keep calling Daniel over the holidays, but just so-so.
This condo far exceeded our expectations and the photos did not come close to showing the perfection we found when we entered the door for the first time. Everything was immaculate and well stocked with all the necesseties. High end appliances and beautifully decorated throughout. The lanai is much larger than the pictures indicated with super comfy chairs to enjoy the gorgeous views. The resort is amazing and the staff was so accomodating - truly perfection. We loved the lagoon. We will come back.
