Located above Kailua Kona, on the slopes of Hualalai, this unique 1200 sq foot cottage

is just the place to enjoy your Big Island adventure.

Conveniently located just minutes from Kona Airport, Costco, and Kailua Kona Town, you won't miss a beat. Great activities, beaches and dining located just 5 - 6 miles away.

Cool elevation and lush foliage surround you in this peaceful

3 acre property. It is not unusual that the temperature is 15 degrees cooler than Kailua Kona. During the cooler season , enjoy the warmth of your own electric fireplace with a simple click of the remote.

Nature lovers will enjoy the abundant variety of plants and birds that surround the area. Mornings greet you with clean crisp air that is not affected by the VOG that sometimes is seen in town.

The property is currently being planted with coffee and we look forward to sharing a cup of Kona's Best with you.

Kona has a great open market that offers a variety of exotic fresh fruits and vegetables, and traditional ones as well, that are grown locally, and at a fraction of the price found in the grocery stores.

Cook your meals and dine outdoors under the sky littered with stars.

Or simply enjoy your cocktails over looking the Ohia forest.

For our friends with limited mobility, the single level cottage is perfect. Park in front of your front door and enter the cottage. No parking lots or parking fees.

The cottage design is simple and open. A king sized bed and a queen sized bed will provide lots of room for a couple or a family. Sports fans...you won't miss a game, as your private DIRECT TV dish will ensure that you can keep up with all for favorite teams.

Far away from the tourist crowd - feel like a local. Clean and comfortable accommodation for my service dog and me. A well outfitted kitchen enabled the preparation of many meals. Park right outside your front door. Good proximity to Costco (gas), airport, and Kona supermarkets. Peter and Libby made me feel right at home. Must have a car. I considered the 10-15 degree drop in temps from town to the cottage a real plus. Dog friendly -- very few Hawaii VRBO's allow pets, and while I know I can argue with the proprietors about whether they should allow a service dog, it was just easier to stay with hosts that like dogs.

I was skeptical when first viewing this property on vrbo. However, I am glad I followed through. This is not a place for everyone; mostly for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway. It is in a secluded area above the city. It is generally cooler in the evening but I had a wonderful time. My hosts, were more than accommodating. The nights are absolutely quiet and the bed was super comfortable. If you want peace and quiet, this is absolutely perfect. You are not far from the excitement of Kona (just a ten minute ride down the hill) The place is very roomy. The kitchen is spotless. I made good use of the free wifi nook. The owners live on the property for any help. The photos of the unit are exactly what you get. No surprises. Thank you Pete and Libby and continued success!

Great place to stay

We really enjoyed ourselves. We are used to cooler weather, so after we got our fill of hot sunny beaches, it was a matter of driving a few miles up the hill to find it cooler by ten degrees. Our hosts were a wealth of information and we enjoyed trading travel stories with them. The cottage has an open floor plan which provides a lot of cross ventilation. The cooler weather on the slopes of the old volcano made for comfortable sleeping. All in all, we would stay there again. We will be telling our friends about this place. Thank you Peter and Elizabeth for your kind and welcoming manner.

The listing description was perfect, the photos showed the place and it was just as I expected, it was very clean and the host's were great and very helpful, I have already recommended it to several people.The hosts recommended Quinn's, where we ended up seeing them there that night. Also, on Alii Dr. along the main drag, we found JAVA LAVA and in two days ate three meals there and watched a beautiful sunset. We really enjoyed the ocean and waterfalls in Hilo and enjoyed to trip up to the north.

Perfect starting point for Kona

This is the perfect starting point for anyone who is visiting Big Island. It is only 15 minutes from Kona airport, located in the cool upcountry jungle. Beautiful garden and cottage, perfectly clean! Pete and Libby are perfect hosts who care so much about their guests! And you have so much space for yourself. Absolutely amazing location.
