is just the place to enjoy your Big Island adventure.
Conveniently located just minutes from Kona Airport, Costco, and Kailua Kona Town, you won't miss a beat. Great activities, beaches and dining located just 5 - 6 miles away.
Cool elevation and lush foliage surround you in this peaceful
3 acre property. It is not unusual that the temperature is 15 degrees cooler than Kailua Kona. During the cooler season , enjoy the warmth of your own electric fireplace with a simple click of the remote.
Nature lovers will enjoy the abundant variety of plants and birds that surround the area. Mornings greet you with clean crisp air that is not affected by the VOG that sometimes is seen in town.
The property is currently being planted with coffee and we look forward to sharing a cup of Kona's Best with you.
Kona has a great open market that offers a variety of exotic fresh fruits and vegetables, and traditional ones as well, that are grown locally, and at a fraction of the price found in the grocery stores.
Cook your meals and dine outdoors under the sky littered with stars.
Or simply enjoy your cocktails over looking the Ohia forest.
For our friends with limited mobility, the single level cottage is perfect. Park in front of your front door and enter the cottage. No parking lots or parking fees.
The cottage design is simple and open. A king sized bed and a queen sized bed will provide lots of room for a couple or a family. Sports fans...you won't miss a game, as your private DIRECT TV dish will ensure that you can keep up with all for favorite teams.

We had been planning on moving to the Big Island for years. We looked to purchase a home in various locations and we are so happy to be in Kaloko. It seems like a world away, yet we are so close to everything. A short drive and we can be dining on the beach. Its like being on another island...so cool!
I had meant to write to you guys after we left the big island but time
got away from me... just wanted to say how happy we are to have met
you two and what a wonderful time we had at the cottage! Thank you so
much for your hospitality and for hanging with us! Hope to see you
My husband and I had a great stay at this cottage. Its beautiful, spacious and very well supplied. I agree with the other reviews that report this has everything you need. From flashlights, sewing kits, spice rack in the kitchen to shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. Owners are super friendly and gave us a tour around the property - including the incredible chameleon couple in their trees! The fire place was fantastic as we were actually a little chilly in the evenings! It would be nice to have a dryer, but they do have a clothes line. We stayed at a few property rentals throughout the islands, and this was both of our favorites.
The Kaloko Cottage was exactly we expected or more than we expected. We slept peacefully in the comfortable king bed with the clean and crisp sheets and pillows in the spacious cool and quiet room. It is located at 2,400 feet - 10 degrees cooler than the beach, and yet conveniently located, being close to Kailua-Kona, beaches and the Kona airport. If you're into strenuous exercises, walk/run the Kaloko-Hao loop with numerous steep hills. Peter, who picked two avocados for us, and Libby are friendly, personable, accommodating, and informative - wonderful folks. The cottage is meticulously equipped with everything, including a flash light and a sewing kit, you need. We were able to watch the Super Bowl on the big TV set, feeling at home. Life was very good there!
We had a wonderful stay. The Kaloko house is an ideal design, spatious and open. The quiet setting was perfect for us. We would be very happy to stay again. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for being such great hosts.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Kaloko cottage. Pete and Liddy were perfect hosts. They live a little distance from cottage but never impose on your privacy. They had great suggestions. The cottage is perfectly located. Easy access to town and beaches as well as historic sites. We stayed for a week and loved it. Quiet peaceful. Low key would definitely recommend
We stayed at the kaloko cottage for a week with our dog. The place is clean, quiet, private and surrounded by nature. The owners are exceptionally nice people. Kona gets hot but kaloko remains cool throughout the day - with temps ranging about 10-15F lower than Kona town. Our dog loved the spacious property and all of the nearby hiking trails. We had great time!
We stayed in the Kaloko Cottage for the first week of our Honeymoon. The property is amazing and we can't say enough good things about it.
The location is excellent - it's 15 minutes from the main area of Kona, which means you're away from the beach-town bustle and tourist-trap main roads, however it's super easy to get down there. It's at approximately 2000 ft so it's cool at night (I always feel warm and it was pleasant and cool without A/C - we didn't even need the fans). It's also easy to get to Costco and other shopping centers.
Outside the cottage is a private picnic table and hedges which separate the house from the main property. You feel like it is very private, but also know the owners are close by in case you need them. Peter and Libby were wonderful hosts, and Peter gave great directions and recommendations.
The house is a spacious and clean design, with an open huge kitchen area. We did not expect all the utilities and appliances they had available including cookware. There was also a cooler, snorkel equipment and beach chairs which we put to good use! The kitchen was also stocked with supplies such as spices, butter, coffee and jam. Some was from the owners, some from prior renters (but none of it was sketchy or old).
the bathroom was beautiful and clean with big bottles of bath products and towels. Hot water and water pressure were excellent.
Overall, this is an amazing place to stay in Kona. Should we return we will book here 100%. Looking at the run-down hotels by the ocean, and the gimmicky beach-town I can't believe people pay 3 times as much to stay there. This was a private, picturesque cottage that felt like a home but with all the amenities a visitor would need. We really can't thank Peter and Libby enough.
