Photos and Description of the Manche vacation chateau / country house rental

The country house, furnished with old furniture, is located in western Normandy near the small harbour city of Granville. It is in a neighbourhood with three other houses in the middle of fields and meadows. The gravel courtyard on the south side is enclosed by a high privet hedge and a white gate. There is a higher garden behind the house. It is 10 minutes by car to the ocean (kilometre-long sand beach). You drive on small roads through the Norman hedgerow country (Bocage). The 120 year old stone house (90 m²) has a spacious eat-in kitchen, bathroom w/ shower and large fireside room on the ground floor as well as two bedrooms with 1.40 m wide beds each on the top floor. It has central heating and hot running water.

The house is located in the coastal back-country about 10 km from the St. Martin de Brehal beaches and about 45 min from the famous Mont St. Michel. The Abtei La Lucerne d'Outremer from the 12th century is nearby. You can visit the Channel Islands (Chausey and Jersey) across from Granville by ferry. There are also flights to the Channel Islands from a small airport near the city. There is also a museum dedicated to the great fashion designer Christian Dior in Granville, his birth place. The nearby bell-foundry city of Villedieu is famous for its copper manufacturing, where world-renown pots and pans are manufactured. A little further away, Coutances with gothic cathedrals, the sand dunes of Barneville Carteret, parks and palaces south of Cherbourg and - a good hour away by car - Bayeux with cathedral and the famous historical rug.

Wir haben Anfang September eine Woche im Haus verbracht. Es liegt sehr ruhig und ländlich-friedvoll mit nur einer Hand voll Nachbarn nahe der längen Sandstrände, die in nur 10-15 Minuten mit dem Auto zu erreichen sind. Geweckt wurden wir nur von der Sonne, leisem Gegackere der Hühner und dem Kikeriki der Hähne der Nachbarschaft - herrlich! Das Haus ist mit hübschen Antiquitäten ausgestattet, einem riesigen offenen Kamin und es hat eine zauberhafte nostalgisch rustikale Küche mit 1000 Töpfen und Pfannen.
Der niedliche rückseitige Garten mit Eisenmöbeln und einigen schattenspendenden Bäumen ist perfekt für einen ruhigen Nachmittag, ein ausgedehntes Frühstück oder Abendessen.
Dieses Feriendomiziel ist perfekt für gestresste Stadtmenschen, die die Ruhe des ländlichen Lebens suchen, die schönen Gegebenheiten einiger sehr netten Städtchen (Granville, Villedieu les poêles, St Malo, Bayeux) dennoch in Reichweite wünschen. Die Ausgangslage für diverse Tagesausflüge, Alliiertenstrände, Mont-Saint-Michel usw. ist sehr gut. Von Granville startet ebenfalls eine Fähre zu den Kanalinseln. Jersey ist wunderschön und ist ein verlängertes Wochenende wert (hier unser Tipp: "La Haule Manor").
Wir würden das individuelle und hübsche Häuschen jederzeit wieder buchen!
p.s.: kleines extra Handtuch als Duschvorleger mitnehmen, da es keine Duschwand/Vorhang gibt.
