About The Owner

We love to enjoy country living and the great outdoors when we can escape from the city. We love to ski the local mountains or xc trails in the winter and boat on squam lake and visit its beaches in the summer. Whatever the season, we enjoy the sense of relaxation this home always gives.

The Owner purchased this house in 2002
Why The Owner chose Ashland

Tom fell in love with and bought the house shortly before meeting Ali. As a composer and avid skier Tom wanted a quiet retreat within easy reach of Boston where he could pursue both these passions. Since marriage and the birth of our daughter the house house has become more than a retreat but also a wonderful family weekend home.

What makes this house unique

The house is quietly situated just off the main tourist beat. We can enjoy the quiet life that our immediate environment offers by just relaxing in a beautiful setting or taking in the small neighborhood trails and looking for tadpoles in the vernal ponds a few minutes walk from our own backdoor. If we so desire we can head out and enjoy some of New Enland's most stunning landscape and take our pick of the many activities, restaurants and attractions that are close at hand.

Ashland sits at the northern edge of the lakes region near Squam Lake which is arguably the most lovely lake in the region. Ashland is easily accessed from I93 but retains its quiet unspoiled charm and provides an excellent base from which to enjoy both the mountains and lakes of NH.

Loved it!

We loved our stay. Loved it!
The days went by very quickly.
The kitchen was the best we ever used as a family. Our daughter loved keeping us company for cooking as she was sitting in that great seat.
The house is so child proof. We realized that afterwards. great job. lots of experience i suppose :)
The fireplace is fabulous and very practical with the two openings at the front and back.
Our daughter played with all the toys including the Bosch chainsaw :)
Every morning, almost every morning, we would wake up with that warm sunrise light.
And the rocking chair was great for reading and checking out the view every now and then.
For us, there was absolutely nothing that could have been better.
Thanks!!

Just stayed at this house with four other friends and we were all blown away by the place! The living room is extremely spacious but also cozy with one of the best fireplaces we have seen. Not to mention there is a great view off the back porch. There is ample space and a great open kitchen. Would be great for the summer as well with a large back yard and plenty of porch space for grilling. If you are looking for a steal on VRBO this is the place to get.

A spectacular stay

We spent 3 nights here in Ashland. It was very cold when we were there and we spent a considerable amount of time in front of the fireplace....it was wonderful!! The house was very comfortable for our whole family and we felt very at home for the time we were there. Alison was very helpful in making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed and even gave many suggestions of places to hike while we were there. We did brave the cold and hiked up one of the nearby mountains that overlooked the lakes; it was a beatiful view and memorable experience. I would recommend this property to anyone who wanted a quiet get-a-way in beautiful New Hampshire.
