|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Pull up to this cedar-shingled lakefront house, tucked back behind mature trees and perennial gardens. Say 'adios' to the day's stress as you step inside and lake views greet you from nearly every window. Grab a beverage and head out to the wraparound deck to contemplate how you will spend the next day. But for now...dinner. Should you BBQ or head out for some local fare? Maybe take the kayak for a spin around the lake to check out the local wildlife? The next day finds you in a dilemma - head out to hike/bike/golf/shop/sightsee or....just hang in a deck chair with a book? In the Fall, make it your day's mission to find the best pumpkins/heirloom apples/local wine as you take in the spectacular foliage. For skiiers, test your mettle at Catamount (15mins) & Butternut (35 mins) Later, settle in front of the woodstove, hot cocoa nearby. And finally, revel in your best night's sleep as you allow the quiet to settle in around you. Welcome to Copake - life in the slow lane
Rental Agreement & Payment: Upon booking, we request that you send us a check to hold the booking. We will provide you with our specific payment requirements at the time of booking. We will also provide you with a rental agreement that you should sign and return with your deposit. Nothing too odious, but it outlines our cancellation policy, check in/out times (4pm& 10am), and house rules.
Cleaning Fee: $100-125
Pet Policy: We love our pets and realize that many guests would like to include theirs on their vacation. We would like to accommodate your four-legged friends, but they must be of the house-broken, well-behaved, non-chewing, non-scratching, non-obsessive barking variety. We do charge a per-pet fee of between $25-50, depending upon length of stay and size of pet. If you would rather kennel your pet, we have several great Doggie B&Bs, but they do book up quickly.
Privacy Details: We have had unfailing success with our guests who take great care of our home. Perhaps it is be cause we informally search folks through google, facebook, linked in and now, guestchecker. We do this just to make sure that we aren't hosting any 'unsavory' characters who will damage our home. So, for the record, guestchecker requires that we state the following: 'At any time during, before, or after your stay with us, your information may be shared with www.guestchecker.com'... We certainly hope never to do this, and would never want anyone to do that to us! At the end of the day, we respect our guests' privacy and will do everything to ensure it.
We had a fantastic vacation and enjoyed your house so much. The kayaks were fun, swam every day, fished every day(only a little luck lol) enjoyed the evening's gloamings on the deck, hill over holstein was fantastic, we went on many day trips for hiking and shopping. Our doggy was delighted to swim every day and loved to watch us fish! A bald eagle visited the lake every morning along with the herons and hawks.
We didn't want to leave! So thank you again for a lovely house!
We stayed 3 nights at the Robinson Pond getaway, deciding to make it a "technology free stay" with no cell phones and no TV or internet. The house has TV and internet, but we didn't use these. It had snowed right before our arrival and a bit during our stay, so a nice deep quite had descended on the pond for which we were very grateful.
Katherine was excellent with communication and a couple of documents were provided to us at booking. She sent an email with picture of the plowed driveway so we knew that we wouldn't have any problems parking. We had the upstairs unit (downstairs can be rented for an additional fee). The master bed was comfy. The kitchen was very well appointed (which we took advantage of for nearly every meal). Leather couches and a nice futon were used for lounging and reading and snuggling with our 6 month old baby boy. They had plenty of wood and kindling for their wood stove that is in the fireplace.
During the last night of our stay, the entire community lost water due to a burst water main. I contacted the owners who then told me that they could bring over 5 gallon buckets of water so we could flush the toilets. Luckily we were about to go to sleep and we didn't need them to do this, but I thought that it was really nice that they were prepared to help us out anyway that they could. We are hoping to be able to get back to Robinson Pond to stay with them again during the summer so we can experience the water! My wife would love to take advantage of their canoes!
The "cottage" is actually a spacious 2 bedroom home which is immaculate and charming. Everything was there to make our stay easy and fun - wood for the wood burning stove, boats for the lake, even a wine cooler in the very modern and beautiful kitchen. Katherine was also extremely helpful prior to our arrival, providing lots of useful information about the area. This was truly one of the best rentals ever!
We had a great time at the cottage. The cottage was super clean and really well equipped with everything you need for barbicueing and cooking. The first few days the weather was not conducive for swimming or canoeing but we did a lot of sightseeing. We visited Hillsdale for dinner at
Cross Road Food Shop and ice cream at the Village Scoop and gift shopping at Passiflora. The owners were super nice and friendly.
When weather improved, we walked the trail toward the Bash Bish falls And went to Millerton, Hudson, Chatham, and the beautiful OMI International Art Center.
He highly recommend the cottage at the Robinson Pond.
The cottage is perfectly located to experience the rural gems such as stopping at a roadside stand to get fresh corn or sunflowers. We enjoyed exploring and finding local restaurants with a range of cuisines from a great hamburger to stroganoff in Copake and Hillsdale. The cottage is within an hour of the Culinary Institute of American and Hyde Park. We enjoyed a quiet morning reading and fishing. Then took off for Hyde Park in the afternoon and toured FDRs family home. Then we spent an enjoyable evening at the American Bounty Restaurant and were entertained by students at the CIA. So many other guests have written about the nice features of the cottage and you will not be disappointed. We were inspired by the CIA and were able to enjoy making a delicious casserole in the cottage's kitchen. Since I have a small galley kitchen at home, it was a delight to be in the kitchen with the beautiful granite countertops and cherry cabinents. From past experiences at cottages in the Finger Lakes, we were often disappointed that the furniture was uncomfortable and second-hand. It was quite a treat at Robinson Pond cottage -- the furniture in the living area and bedroom were extremely comfortable. It feels like home. Thank you to cottage owners for allowing us to rest and renew in this lovely property.
When celebrating our September anniversary, the weather can be either lovely and warm, or a chilly preview of fall. We're happy to report that the only thing missing from our wonderful weekend getaway at Robinson Pond was the warm, summer-like September weather that we had hoped for. Then we could have enjoyed the fabulous deck of this cottage even more -- a lovely space that overlooks the serene, quiet and restful lake.
Inside the cottage, we enjoyed views of the lake from an open room that included another dining table, a cozy futon, a comfy leather sofa and chair, great sound system and TV -- you could even view the lake while preparing food in the kitchen. And what a kitchen -- all the cookware you could want in a gorgeous, spacious layout. Everything in the cottage was as clean and well-appointed as could be.
The queen bedroom was beautifully decorated in soothing, neutral shades. French doors open up to the deck, which would be ideal in summertime. The bed itself was so cozy, you could sleep the weekend away!
The cottage comes equipped with 2 kayaks, a paddle boat and a motorboat -- adding a lot of value to the rental, and lots of fun on the lake.
We biked the nearby Harlem Valley Rail trail -- the span we cycled was 20 miles round-trip (flat and easy for cyclists looking for a beautiful ride); explored the many shops of Great Barrington, MA; discovered a brewpub with a great craft beers in Philmont, NY; and had a wonderful anniversary dinner at the nearby No. 9 Restaurant in Millerton, NY. We've always enjoyed the Hudson Valley, and we would definitely return to this delightful cottage on Robinson Pond. It was a pleasure dealing with Katherine, the homeowner -- she was so helpful and responsive every step of the way. We highly recommend this rental.
I was looking for a summer lake vacation close to Westchester/Manhattan where my two young boys could spend quality time swimming and boating (and perhaps re-visit and ski in the winter) We lucked out with Katherine's cottage on Robinson Pond! Even better than in the pictures, the house has a wonderful layout and location that allowed my boys to fish, boat and swim while I could watch from the dock and beautiful deck or from the beach two houses down. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed - the boys and I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and the independence they could have enjoying the lake. They also loved the aerial adventure park at Catamount nearby in Hillsdale. We really enjoyed the quieter, slow pace of Robinson Pond and its natural beauty and overall my boys declared it "an awesome week" which I am so thankful for.
