Photos and Description of the Copake vacation cottage rental
2 Bedrooms, 1 full Bath, Sleeps 4 people

Pull up to this cedar-shingled lakefront house, tucked back behind mature trees and perennial gardens. Say 'adios' to the day's stress as you step inside and lake views greet you from nearly every window. Grab a beverage and head out to the wraparound deck to contemplate how you will spend the next day. But for now...dinner. Should you BBQ or head out for some local fare? Maybe take the kayak for a spin around the lake to check out the local wildlife? The next day finds you in a dilemma - head out to hike/bike/golf/shop/sightsee or....just hang in a deck chair with a book? In the Fall, make it your day's mission to find the best pumpkins/heirloom apples/local wine as you take in the spectacular foliage. For skiiers, test your mettle at Catamount (15mins) & Butternut (35 mins) Later, settle in front of the woodstove, hot cocoa nearby. And finally, revel in your best night's sleep as you allow the quiet to settle in around you. Welcome to Copake - life in the slow lane

Rental Agreement & Payment: Upon booking, we request that you send us a check to hold the booking. We will provide you with our specific payment requirements at the time of booking. We will also provide you with a rental agreement that you should sign and return with your deposit. Nothing too odious, but it outlines our cancellation policy, check in/out times (4pm& 10am), and house rules.

Cleaning Fee: $100

Pet Policy: We love our pets and realize that many guests would like to include theirs on their vacation. We would like to accommodate your four-legged friends, but they must be of the house-broken, well-behaved, non-chewing, non-scratching, non-obsessive barking variety. We do charge a per-pet fee of between $25-50, depending upon length of stay and size of pet. If you would rather kennel your pet, we have several great Doggie B&Bs, but they do book up quickly.

Privacy Details: We have had unfailing success with our guests who take great care of our home. Perhaps it is be cause we informally search folks through google, facebook, linked in and now, guestchecker. We do this just to make sure that we aren't hosting any 'unsavory' characters who will damage our home. So, for the record, guestchecker requires that we state the following: 'At any time during, before, or after your stay with us, your information may be shared with www.guestchecker.com'... We certainly hope never to do this, and would never want anyone to do that to us! At the end of the day, we respect our guests' privacy and will do everything to ensure it.

Spring on Robinson Pond

Submitted: May 9, 2013 Stayed: May 2013
Thank you so much for letting us rent your lovely property. We really lucked out with the weather & were able to spend a couple of days on the pond; one day we went out with the paddleboat and the other day we went out in the little boat. We grilled, relaxed, cooked and I even saw a shooting star while stargazing! It was truly perfect and we cannot wait to visit again. Thanks for making everything a breeze :)

We just left Stockbridge, MA and on our way home...Copake though...a hidden gem to us , which we loooooved! We also visited Hudson, NY and Great Barrington where we did some shopping. Your cottage by Robinson Pond is the ideal destination!

Everything is perfect. Location, location, location! Your attention to detail made our stay most comfortable and leisurely. How thoughtful of you to have all the amenities and supplies available for your guests' usage! What a pleasure to be able to see the pond from practically every angle of your well appointed cottage!! My family and I have been guests in a number of "home away" rentals and your cottage is already a favorite!

Perfect -- Wish It Had Been Summer!

5 of 5
Submitted: October 8, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
When celebrating our September anniversary, the weather can be either lovely and warm, or a chilly preview of fall. We're happy to report that the only thing missing from our wonderful weekend getaway at Robinson Pond was the warm, summer-like September weather that we had hoped for. Then we could have enjoyed the fabulous deck of this cottage even more -- a lovely space that overlooks the serene, quiet and restful lake.

Inside the cottage, we enjoyed views of the lake from an open room that included another dining table, a cozy futon, a comfy leather sofa and chair, great sound system and TV -- you could even view the lake while preparing food in the kitchen. And what a kitchen -- all the cookware you could want in a gorgeous, spacious layout. Everything in the cottage was as clean and well-appointed as could be.

The queen bedroom was beautifully decorated in soothing, neutral shades. French doors open up to the deck, which would be ideal in summertime. The bed itself was so cozy, you could sleep the weekend away!

The cottage comes equipped with 2 kayaks, a paddle boat and a motorboat -- adding a lot of value to the rental, and lots of fun on the lake.

We biked the nearby Harlem Valley Rail trail -- the span we cycled was 20 miles round-trip (flat and easy for cyclists looking for a beautiful ride); explored the many shops of Great Barrington, MA; discovered a brewpub with a great craft beers in Philmont, NY; and had a wonderful anniversary dinner at the nearby No. 9 Restaurant in Millerton, NY. We've always enjoyed the Hudson Valley, and we would definitely return to this delightful cottage on Robinson Pond. It was a pleasure dealing with Katherine, the homeowner -- she was so helpful and responsive every step of the way. We highly recommend this rental.

Perfect Summer Fun

5 of 5
Submitted: August 1, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
I was looking for a summer lake vacation close to Westchester/Manhattan where my two young boys could spend quality time swimming and boating (and perhaps re-visit and ski in the winter) We lucked out with Katherine's cottage on Robinson Pond! Even better than in the pictures, the house has a wonderful layout and location that allowed my boys to fish, boat and swim while I could watch from the dock and beautiful deck or from the beach two houses down. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed - the boys and I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and the independence they could have enjoying the lake. They also loved the aerial adventure park at Catamount nearby in Hillsdale. We really enjoyed the quieter, slow pace of Robinson Pond and its natural beauty and overall my boys declared it "an awesome week" which I am so thankful for.

A Little Piece of Heaven

5 of 5
Submitted: July 15, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
My husband and I were looking for a getaway from the city and this cottage met and exceed every one of our expectations. The pictures do not truly capture the beauty of this house.

Katherine stocks this house like it is her own home not a rental property. Every thing you could think of was there for your use during your stay. During the day you can kayak around the pond and then take a short ride to Hudson or Great Barrington for dinner or theater. We actually planned to do a bit more traveling to Hudson and Great Barrington; however, the sunset over the Pond and a good bottle of white made us forget about those other things we planned on doing.
