Montreal Townhome Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom apt sleeps 2-8, Basement apt sleeps 2-4

This lovely duplex is located in Westmount, Montreal's most elegant neighborhood, close to downtown. At the end of the road you will find wonderful food shops, trendy boutiques and great restaurants. Bus and metro transportation is minutes away. Nearby is Westmount Park, a superb library and a fabulous YMCA. Colourful Atwater Market and the Lachine Canal recreation path are nearby and the centre of town is a short direct bus or metro ride away.

My building is a restored Victorian duplex with two larege, theree bedroom two bathroom apts and a cosy basement efficiency apt with a private entrance from the side of the house. The apts have rooms that are generous in size with high ceilings and hardwood floors and the area is very quiet and great for sleeping. A sunny back balcony is part od the second floor apt at 320 Grosvenor and is a wonderful place to dine al fresco. The living room has a fireplace and opens to a dining area that can seat 8. The ground floor apt at 318 grosvenor has a private back garden and patio area and a wonderful eatin kitchen. This apt can open up directly to the basement efficiency apt and is ideal for a large group as there is plenty of room to stretch out.

About Virginia Huber

I have been living in Montreal since I graduated from the Universityof Western Ontario. I was fascinated by the city as a little girl and there was no question that it was the place for me to make my way in life. I made my career in Montreal's fashion industry and now that I am retired, I split my time between Montreal and my second home in Stowe Vermont. I have the best of both worlds..an exciting, sophisticated, international city with out of this world restaurants and a delightful country retreat with all sorts of athletic outdoorsy things to do. Do come and visit either of my favourite places and see what I am so in love with. You can see my Stowe property as # 248825 on Homeaway's site.

Virginia Huber purchased this townhome in 1974

Why Virginia Huber chose Montreal

MY grand father was an architect in England and I think the love of houses, especially those with old bones, is in my blood. I bought this house when I was young and foolish, but in fact it was the smartest thing I could ever have done. It was a forced savings program for me and instead of buying more shoes and handbags, I paid my mortgage and now this wonderful house is paying me back.

What makes this townhome unique

The very special thing about this house is that it is in the most charming neighbourhood. Westmount is rather exclusive, but where I live on a street just off Sherbrooke St, there is a real village feeling with everything you could possibly need within walking distance. It is an old district, so the trees are mature and there is a quiet elegance in the Victorian architecture.

Well Done in Westmount

  • 4 of 5
My wife and I and our two adult children spent four nights in Virginia's apartment and found it to be quite satisfactory - three bedrooms accommodated us with no problems at all. We're from Dallas, and the area around the apartment in Westmount was very unique to us, and very charming. There is plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen was well supplied. Based on Virginia's recommendation, we ate at Brasserie Central (good for dinner, looks like they have a great Happy Hour) and picked up baked goods and coffee at La Patisserie Gascogne, both a short walk from the apartment and very good. And there is a grocery store and other interesting shops in the neighborhood for all your needs. Prior to the trip, Virginia was very helpful and timely in answering travel questions. We'd stay again.

We didn't have a car during our stay, relying on public transportation to get around Montreal, our first time in the city - we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment is a block or two from both the bus and metro, with buses running every 10 minutes on weekdays up and down Sherbrooke, a main thoroughfare into town. If you are relying on public transportation, check out multi-day passes (we didn't find out about them until the last day) - daily gets pricey for four people.

Perfect Family Spot

  • 5 of 5
Our family with three young boys (13,10,6) stayed for a week in Virginia's apartment this summer. It was one of the best vacation we have ever had! We live in a fairly rural area, so it was a big thrill for the boys to be able to walk to a corner store, the park or the YMCA pool (you can buy a pool pass for $5). The neighborhood felt very safe and we were surrounded by destinations for them to explore - everything from small markets and bakeries on Sherbrooke to Yumi sushi (where we ate three times!) to the bike path. Bring your bikes and you can safely ride a complete circuit around Montreal starting and ending one block away from the apartment.

Overall, this apartment was the perfect home base for our adventures. We had enough room for our family and the kitchen allowed us to cook at home, which cut the cost of our trip. And the location was beautiful. We will come back again!

Five Women

  • 5 of 5
This property is a must if you are traveling to Montreal. Five of us recently enjoyed our annual girls getaway. Upon arrival, we were impressed with the cleanliness and comfort overall. The apartment is spacious and offers a fully, first class equipped kitchen, quality linens and comfy beds. The neighborhood is quiet but is very close to restaurants, groceries, shopping, bus and metro. As parking can be a bit challenging, we opted to leave the car for three nights in a commercial parking garage nearby. We got a great rate total of only $25 for all three nights. This way we did not have to worry about the parking laws re: on street parking. Thank you Virginia for offering us such a great accommodation.

Gorgeous apartment, perfect for a family Montreal getaway

  • 5 of 5
Virginia's apartment is spacious, immaculate, beautifully decorated with comfy beds, wonderful linens and a well-equipped kitchen. The location is perfect -- close to buses, parks and amazing cafés. Also, it's a runner's paradise -- a great neighborhood for a scenic jog/ walk. Tonight is our last night and my husband and kids and I have had a really great time. My kids are already asking when we'll be back!

Charming, Comfortable, Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5
As a former Montrealer, our group of five decided to rent this upper duplex on a quiet street close to all amenities. It was large, clean and well-appointed with every comfort of home, full of character, charm, antiques, updated kitchen and baths. It is on a quiet street in a neighborhood with access to the metro and numerous bus lines, many stores, coffee shops, boutiques and some restaurants. If you enjoy a nice walk and the weather permits, one can even walk to or from downtown along beautiful Sherbrooke St. or de Maisonneuve Ave., through Westmount park. An excellent place to stay! Thank you, Virginia.

Notes:
Staying in my Westmount duplex will make you feel like you have your own home in Montreal. I have owned this property for a long time and though I live elsewhere now, the apt is filled with items that I have collected over the years from my travels. I make a point of staying in the apt as often as I can to make sure it still has its heart and soul.
