We love the great outdoors. Our family really enjoys good food and coming together around the large harvest table at the Pioneer. The kitchen is very large and this is where we spend most of our time together.

Parents can relax knowing their kids are always within ear-shot on the 4 acre gentle sloping peninsula. The boys love to waterski, fish and hang out around the camp fire.

This was once our Grandmother's home. Granny knew the Smoky Mountains like the back of her hand. She knew just about every thing that grew in the woods and what it was used for. The building techniques of the Early American settlers have last to this day. Each log is a work of art.

Guest get to experience a glimmer of what life might have looked like during the early 1800's, but with all the comforts of modern living. Guests get the pleasure of staying in a real home that was full of love and music...you feel it right at home as soon as you walk in the door. Staying at the Pioneer is like having the best of both worlds. You have the lake shore vacation that is within easy driving distance of the mountains and all the action of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Our family reunion could not have been better! The kids had a blast fishing, roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, and running around on the property. The adults had fun relaxing in the hot tube, play cards on the back porch, and gathering in the kitchen to cook together! What a lovely property with great history.

The Pioneer did not disappoint, exactly as it was described. We spent 7 fun filled days swimming in the lake, taking trips into Pigeon Forge, Gatlingburg and the Smoky Mountain National Park. Everything about the Pioneer was awesome took all if us back in time but at the same time you wanted for nothing as all our needs were met. Would love to do this again!!

Pioneer Trading Post

We had a wonderful vacation week at the Pioneer Trading Post. The house was beautiful, just as it is in the pictures on the listing. The house was clean and seemed to be well taken care of. The children's loft has a very low ceiling and very steep stairs, which may need to be taken into account when you are planning your vacation. My 11 year old had to stoop to get into the door and our smaller children couldn't safely get to the loft. I don't think that this is noted anywhere in the description of th cabin, but may not be a concern for most people thinking of renting the property. The children (and most adults) with us enjoyed swimming in the lake. Since you are in a cove, it was very quiet and peaceful. The owner and property manager were easy to get in touch with and were able to get the hot tub working quickly after we checked in and realized it wasn't working. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We hope to return again next year!

We just returned yesterday after a 1 week stay at the Pioneer Trading Post. What an amazing home! The house was rustic yet modern and the perfect place for our extended family to relax and enjoy time together. We had never been to Tennessee and enjoyed everything there was to offer. We went to Dollywood, Splash Country, our children swam in the lake, we rented a boat and had a great time tubing, we went horse back riding and zip lining (at Jayell Ranch). We went on a hike in the Great Smoky Mountain National park (hiked to a waterfall...amazing!). We went to a number of fabulous eating establishments and had a great old fashioned barbecue at home followed by a bonfire and smores out back.

We had 6 children with us and they were never bored. They fished, swam, used the hot tub, played games and many of them experienced things they had never done before.

I work in a high stress corporate job and this vacation truly recharged my battery and gave me an opportunity to relax and enjoy time with my family that I normally don't get during my busy work weeks.

Thank you to Tara for creating this atmosphere and sharing it with those of us who have never had the pleasure of experiencing all that Tennessee has to offer.
