Come enjoy a truly unique getaway in an artists country house overlooking the glorious Hudson River. Guaranteed to be an energizing retreat from the city or wherever you need a break from, The three story farm house (previously owned by a famous Pulitzer playwright) sits overlooking a marshland abundant with the sounds of birds and other wildlife. A stream runs along the edge of the property to provide a soothing soundtrack. Light a fire in the fireplace and enjoy the magic.
This is a one of a kind oasis, perfect for enjoying nature, romance, creative thinking, or just unwinding in a blissful setting. For those coming from NYC it's exactly an hour by car or train. The most practical (and cost effective) aspect for city-dwellers is the ‘no car needed’ weekend getaway feature. Pack your bag with groceries at Grand Central on a friday night, hop on the Metro North 6:15 which stops just minutes away at a semi-private train station. You get off in the middle of a pristine nature preserve and the heavenly surroundings make you feel like you've gone hours away. Walk 5 minutes to the house to start your fun.
Relax inside, or out. Hang on the porch, relax at the fish pond, hike, barbeque or just do nothing with a glass of wine by the fireplace. Go for a walk on the many nature trails just a minute from the front door. The famous Appalachian trail is a 10 minute walk up the hill with 360 degree view of the Bear Mountain area.
The house is ideal for a romantic getaway for a couple or two starting at $299 per night (January 2-April 15th) and $399 per night April 16th - January2 (minimum two nights), or a full week for $1,900 (winter) or $2495 (spring/summer/fall) . This is a 3 story, 2 bedroom home (sleeps 4-6) 1.5 bath, patio roof deck, front porch facing the Hudson, 2 fireplaces (Living room/master bedroom) and outdoor fire pit with views of the Hudson River and surrounding highlands. There is an office area on the third floor with printer and office desk if need be.
The Hudson River is a 5 minute walk down down the road as is the Metro North train (2x daily/4x on weekends). It's 10 minutes south of quaint Cold Spring and a 15 minute drive to West Point Academy. Please NO smoking in the house.
Lots to do in the neighborhood, antique shopping in Cold Spring, DIA Art Museum in Beacon, visit West Point Military Academy, explore many historical revolutionary war fortifications, spend a day on the many lakes and of course the gaze at the Hudson River (fully viewable in winter partially viewable in summer). If you have work, bring your laptop, excellent WIFI . Or just lay back on the couch and get ready to relax and let nature be your host.

I'm a musician. artist, love the outdoors and life. Enjoy hosting my friends and family whenever possible.
This house is nature's paradise, yet so close to the city. I love the area for all the activities right outside my door. Loads to explore specially being on the river.
It's like Cost Rica on the Hudson River. The water, nature and many animals, hiking, walking, great kitchen for cooking, 3 fireplaces (2 indoor, 1 outside). The house is super cozy and has a history steeped in Hudson Valley history. Owned by several famous artists throughout the years and evidently a bar during prohibition, there is tons of creative energy abound . The setup inside has unique art work everywhere. Most certainly the peace and quiet (with the exception of the occasional trains hustling along the tracks) is the glue which keeps ones' head together.
