We have a 8 months old baby, so it's a little bit safe issue with the stairs inside the house. Other than that it was awesome. The functional kitchen, the nice hot tub backyard, nice juggle noise at night(I love it, but my husband thinks it's loud when sleeping closed to the window daybed)... It comfortable and relaxing.
I stayed at the Tree House Hideaway for 8 nights and LOVED it!! I was here solo away from family and friends looking for peace and quite. This place is in the perfect location between Kona and Captain Cook. I spent my days at the beach, snorkeling and exploring the area. A few of the days I just stayed in, why go anywhere else, the place was perfect. Reggie was wonderful to work with and I felt totally safe knowing she was close by if something came up out of the ordinary. I made friends with the little gecko family and the 3 little baby geckos (only about an inch long). Every morning and evening they would greet me in hopes I would give them some sweets like papaya, star fruit or rambutan from the farmers market. The hot tub was a bonus after a day at the beach. The pictures do not do this place justice. The evening sunsets are amazing, wild orchids blooming on the stairs up and bananas growing right behind the hot tub. I only wish they were ripe enough to pick. I'm jealous of the next people who get to stay there. I can't wait to enjoy this little place of heaven again, this time with my husband.
A few things to consider:
Ants; no big deal. Keep food in the fridge and honey, jams, and other sweets just place in a shallow dish with a little water. The ants won't go through the water to get to your stuff. I did this and it completely eliminated all ants.
Geckos; don't feed them. They will bring their whole family with them chirping, fighting and make a ruckus. You won't be able to get rid of them.
This property has EVERYTHING you need, Fully stocked kitchen. I shopped the local farmers market and cooked for every meal. There wasn't anything I couldn't cook. The Wednesday and Saturday market in Keauhou is awesome. Also there is a market really close by. I saved a ton of money not going into town eating out. However I did indulge at Sandy's Drive Inn and the local coffee grower stands along the highway.
This is not condo or resort living: Privacy, security, close to everything and far from it all. Paradise Perfect!
We stayed here for a month & it was wonderful. The place was totally private & like nothing we've ever stayed in before. We had everything we needed & the pictures are very accurate. The owner Reggie was easy to deal with & had suggestions of places to see. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something other than a condo.
The pictures and description are right on. The Tree House is a perfect place for a romantic getaway. We had our teenager along and it worked out fine, though we live on a boat and are used to small spaces. The place is very nicely furnished and clean. It looks to be well maintained over all. There is a nice variety of plants around the place and with a little more trimming one could appreciate them more. I do realize in that environment plants grow at a rapid pace and it may not be prudent to spend more time on this , but as a professional gardener it's something I noticed. It was a great place to stay and is a good location for seeing much of the island. I would recommend this place to other visitors.
This studio was just perfect for a weekend getaway! Fully equipped, replete with private hot tub and sunning deck :) I used the treehouse as my home base for lots of Kona side adventuring by day but retreated back here by night to get some work done. Great location--balance of feeling secluded and still being near downtown! Other units are RIGHT next door which I did not expect, but it did not impact stay at all.
We drove from the Kona Airport, following the directions given us, and easily found our little dream house, aptly called “The Treehouse Hideaway”. We climbed a set of stairs to our little house, tucked on the side of the hill. When we walked in we were delighted, this was the PERFECT place for us. The house is built with 4 levels. The entry and bathroom are on the first level, then up two steps to the kitchen, then up 3 steps to the living room and finally up 1 step to the bedroom. There are windows all around that have no glass but only screens, so all the lovely breezes blow through and all the night sounds of the crickets, frogs and birds drift in. Out the back door is a little deck with comfy furniture and a hot tub. The house is
located so that it has complete privacy, even though there are other houses on 3 sides, we are completely hidden by thick foliage. There are big tables, comfortable over stuffed chairs, stained glass lamps, and everything we could possibly need in the kitchen to cook our meals.
The house was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owners were easy to get a hold of and responded quickly to all our inquiries. Once we had booked our reservation, they also sent us a multi page description of the area with recommended sites, activites, restaurants, beaches and services. There is a good grocery store only a short drive south, and a washerette a short drive north.
This little house was such a haven to come home to at the end of the day!
