RESTORED HISTORIC HOME-INCREDIBLE VIEWS-WALK TO TOWN

Estes Park House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-14) (17 with cottage rental)

We respond to all inquiries and calls promptly. Our calendar is always fully updated.

The Davis Hill Historic House, with its breathtaking view of the Continental Divide, began as an inn around the turn of the last century in a smaller structure. The present stone and stucco structure was built in 1923. We operated the house as a B&B for the first four summers and after numerous requests from guests to rent the entire house for their summer vacations and reunions we now only accept weekly rentals in the peak season.

The home is in an absolutely fabulous location. On a hill in a quiet residential neighborhood, you can leave your car parked and walk to downtown in five minutes. There are numerous shops, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and attractions just two blocks away, to include Fun City-a kids' favorite.

The house has six bedrooms which includes a loft/dormitory and two full baths and one half bath. There is a full kitchen equipped with everything you need to whip up great meals. There is also a dishwasher and microwave. There is a large living room with comfortable furniture surrounding an incredible moss stone fireplace.

You can dine inside at the large dining table (original hickory style) or al fresco on the wonderful front porch overlooking the Continental Divide.

The back wing of the house has three bedrooms and one hall entry bathroom. The bedrooms include one with a king bed, one with two twins and one with a double and a twin. The bathroom has a claw foot tub and separate shower. The other main floor wing has a bedroom with a queen bed and a bedroom with a full bed (''the nook''). These bedrooms are separated by a bathroom with claw foot tub (tub has shower attachment). The nook has a private exit out to the front porch. The comfortable main floor period bedrooms all have antique furniture and wonderful beds.

Upstairs is a large loft/dormitory that is very popular with kids and teens. There is one queen, one double, one single bed and a twin futon and a half bath. There is also a futon and couch for lounging.

Guests often have a hard time pulling themselves away from the view from the large porch to go explore Rocky Mountain National Park, the Stanley Hotel, the YMCA of the Rockies and beautiful downtown Estes Park with the wonderful river walk. There is a shared fire pit available out back for roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. Skewers provided. Commercial grade 'wi-fi' and complementary, on site shared laundry facility available 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Tue-Sat. Reserved parking for up to four vehicles. one additional reserved parking space with cottage rental. No on street parking. Estes Park Shuttle to and from Denver Airport with pick up and delivery right to our house.

This home has a maximum occupancy of 14. Do you need more room? Ask about renting our adjoining cottage which sleeps 4. (Home Away #964466, VRBO #139663) in addition to the house. Click on ''Click Here to see All My Rental Listings'' below to see the cottage. Cottage has one reserved parking space. No on street parking.

Jim and Lois Gunlicks, Nebraska born owners, loved visiting Colorado from childhood continuing on into college summer jobs and then a dream come true: buying a home in beautiful Estes Park. During the summer they reside in the adjacent property, assume caretaker responsibilities and are available to answer questions when asked.

Jim or Lois Gunlicks purchased this house in 2007

The easy access from a large airport, Denver, and the cool dry summer climate close to hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park landed us in Estes Park.

Family Fun in Estes Park

  • 5 of 5
When visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, our family stayed at the Davis Hill Historic House in Estes Park, CO. What a great decision! The house was large enough to accomodate our party of seven adults and three children very comfortably. We loved the home's rustic charm and cozy decor. The kitchen was well stocked for the times we decided to eat in. A laundry room was also available. The open porch was our family gathering place because of the beautiful mountain views and wildlife (elk, chipmunks, humming birds) in the front yard. The kids loved playing in the yard and swinging on the hammock. The Davis Hill House is within walking distance to downtown Estes Park, with it's river walk, shops and restaurants. Fun City, a big hit with the kids, is right down the hill featuring trampolines, go-carts, etc. The property is close to several entrances to RMNP and other activities in the area such as the cable car ride up the side of the mountain, horseback riding trials, golf and more. The owners, Jim and Lois, are wonderful people. Very pleasant and helpful. Never intrusive. If you're visiting RMNP and/or Estes Park, we HIGHLY recommend the Davis Hill House. Our family loved it and hopes to return soon!

Best Vacation Spot Ever!

  • 5 of 5
Our family spent our best vacation ever at Davis Hill House. The owners are the most wonderful people who did everything they could to make sure that would happen. All the amenities listed in the description and more were available to make our stay special. The porch was so comfortable with such an amazing view that we spent far more time there than we would ever expected. We prepared most of our own meals using the wide variety of appliances and cookware. The easy walk to town made it unnecessary to take a car to visit the shops and restaurants. Immediate access to Rocky Mountain National Park spurred our hiking excursions and sightseeing drives. Most of all, the historical charm of Davis Hill House, appointed so precisely by the owners, made our stay extremely comfortable. The rooms were all immaculately clean and well maintained. The little extras supplied by the owners (games, books, historical albums, maps, brochures of surrounding attractions, etc.) deeply enhanced our vacation experience. However, do not expect room sizes commensurate with modern buildings. This charming former inn was built in the 1920s with room sizes typical of that era. The loft, however, is much more typical of modern-sized accommodations while still retaining rustic charm. My wife and I, our four sons, three daughters-in-law and six grandchildren were very comfortable, effectively using all the living space. We also utilized all the amenities on the grounds: the grill, the fire pit, the hammock in the pines. Our grandchildren especially enjoyed playing on the saddle straddling a rock outcropping. The week we spent here was magical, and we plan to be regular returning guests. We highly recommend this house to anyone seeking the Estes Park vacation experience.

Charming, Historic, Convenient, Comfortable

  • 5 of 5
We spent several days at Davis Hill when our daughter was getting married in Estes. Davis Hill Historic B&B saw parties, gatherings, dinners, cocktails and of course, many folks having a blast. It was the perfect place, it embodies Estes and Colorado charm and there was plenty of space for parties, with several partiers who hadn't planned to spend the night! Easy walk into town let us enjoy the shopping and dining in Estes. Elk and mule deer all around the property - we woke one morning to 60 elk in the yard. The owners were great to work with, very friendly and extremely responsive to our every need. Thanks Jim and Lois - you and your place made a great occasion even more memorable.

Wonderful house and location

  • 5 of 5
Our son and daughter in law had a beautiful wedding in Estes Park. We decided to make the trip an extended vacation also since we were coming from Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and South Carolina. The house was perfect in size and design. Our daughter, son in law and their 3 children spread out in the large upstairs loft area. The remaining adults had the other 5 bedrooms. The house has many historical artifacts and collectors items. We were transported to another time in history, while also having games, reading material, and up to date electronics all in tip top shape. The owners were available but unobtrusive in the house next door and warm and gracious. It was a short walk down the hill into the middle of town; a 10 minute drive to the entrance to the RMNP; and we saw moose and deer around the property every day. Everyone feels it was the perfect vacation location-a small neighborhood up a hill so you have views and privacy, yet close to all conveniences. We would love to return someday.

Wonderful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5
We absolutely loved our stay at Davis Hill. The property is wonderful – rustic and authentic, but modern and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for meal preparation. The house has plenty of bedrooms for our large family, and the beds were all very comfy. We especially loved sitting on the huge front porch, watching the wildlife with mountains in the background. It is a perfect place to chat while enjoying coffee or meals. The kids in our group loved playing all around the property, and had plenty of places to sleep or lounge. The house is conveniently located, walking distance to town and an easy drive to Rocky Mountain National Park or the YMCA. We highly recommend the property!

Great Place with a beautiful view-

  • 5 of 5
August 5,2012 stay at the Davis Hill B&B-
As members of our local Landmark Society we appreciated that this historical B&B has been preserved and continues to operate so visitors can experience the craftsmanship of the home. We liked the rustic décor and the fabulous view from the porch letting us take in the great Long’s Peak with its very famous notch. We also enjoyed the hummingbirds as they visited the feeders. There is always a photography opportunity.
We were traveling with our grandson and he enjoyed the area surrounding the home for playing and exploring. Our bedrooms were comfortable and we liked the ceiling fan. The bathroom was handy and shower had great pressure. We found the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue grill perfect for preparing meals. We were able to entertain our friends on the front porch.
Being close to the Rocky Mountain National Park is a real bonus and we saw lots of wildlife. It was nice to have the River Walk only a couple blocks away so we could have a nice experience walking downtown.
