We've been doing family reunions in Telluride for several years now, this is the first time at the Terraces. In the past we've stayed at 1) outside Mountain Village, pro: nice big private house, con: had to take the shuttle everywhere, to the lifts, restaurants, stores, 2) condos at lift #7 (twice), pro: cheaper price, con: difficult for the entire family to access if not a black diamond rider, the blue was treacherous, and farther away to access any stores or restaurants, and the town of Telluride, 3) Mountain Village at Le Chamonix condo, pro: great views of mountains, closeby location to access lift #4, gondola to Telluride, and restaurants and stores, competitive pricing, con: none really, but a further walk to the lift as compared to the Terraces, and 4) the Terraces (which I am reviewing now.)
The Terraces had lots of room for our 3 families. The kids enjoyed the stairs area by building a fort under it, the bunk beds on the 2nd floor, and the games available. Note wifi not on a secure private network. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and dinnerware, enough for 6 adults and 3 children to run the dishwasher only once a day. Nice to have a washer/dryer (note: not full sized). Open floor plan and large dining table to accommodate our socializing. Enjoyable steam shower and en suite bathtub in the master bedroom. The best thing about this place is the location! The view is of Meadows run right outside our windows. We could easily ski in/ski out or walk down to the chondola at Meadows or lift #10 (Sunshine express). Great for the kids, ages 6, 7, and 9, who needed the warm up on the greens but after one day were running the blues. Just one chondola ride over to lift #4 Village Express. Everything was so easily accessible, the lifts, restaurants, stores. Being on the run and a light sleeper, I was afraid of the noise from the groomers but no issue there! Parking was on site at the house too. We shared a room for our gear in the lobby area, note that at one point we were the only ones occupying the 4plex. The hot tub was in another building but we were not motivated enough to brave the cold for it. The price is what it is for a user friendly ski in/ski out location. There seems to be a lot of additional fees and taxes that other places don't charge on top of the nightly rate, but overall the total price is competitive. I highly recommend the place, will probably rent same place again next year and the following years to come.
We stayed at The Terraces during July 2011 and had a great time! We loved the quiet, peaceful location w/a view out onto the ski slope, covered with daisies. The condo was clean and well maintained and looked just like the photos on the internet. We also appreciated the convenient parking space right outside the door of our condo unit. Elevation Vacations (who manage the unit) were extremely helpful and took care of all needs promptly and efficiently! Especially helpful was information they gave us on using the free shuttle van for transportation to the village core. We didn't need to use our car very much at all during our stay, which was nice. We would definitely stay here again and also recommend The Terraces to our friends and family! We did a lot of hiking on trails in the area and also at Lizard Head Pass. Lots of good restaurants in Telluride too! A very enjoyable stay!!!!
