We were so lucky to buy this home in the Bayou St. John neighborhood with our friends John and Debra, who live in Ohio. We have done significant renovations to the house that makes it such a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
Kate purchased this apartment in 2008
Bayou St. John is one of the most popular neighborhoods in New Orleans. Everyone wants to live here. We know you will agree after you have stayed with us.
We enjoy sitting on the porch and enjoying the neighborhood atmosphere. Since there are so many choices of restaurants and things to do, we rarely have to get in the car to go anywhere. If we do go to the quarter or downtown restaurants we can easily get a cab for about $15 or take a leisurely ride on the streetcar.
This place turned out to be just perfect for us. Our son lives close by and it was so convenient to everything. We visited City Park and the Art Museum. The apartment was clean and so comfortable. My daughter and I had tea on the front porch every morning. Just lovely! But it was also quiet at night. The neighbors were really friendly as well. The owners were so accommodating. I messed up the reservation - completely my error but Kate worked it out for us! Just lovely people and a great place. Would highly recommend it.
Quiet neighborhood...good restaurants, coffee shop, wine bar and grocery store within 2 blocks. Easy access to City Park and the Esplanade. Very, very comfortable place to stay. Off street parking.
Kate's place is by far the best value. We walked to the streetcar. We ate on the patio. We enjoyed going to all the sightseeing opportunities , conveniently from the property. Our friends stayed at a pricey hotel and were so envious of our setup.
have everything we needed, short 1/2 mile walk to trolley and City Museum. off street parking. Steps could be a challenge for some. Thin walls could affect light sleepers. Owner was very helpful and easy to work with, very responsive to our short arrival and extending our stay. Great neighborhood, short walk to nice restaurants, wine bar, local grocery and laundromat.
We were a last minute booking and Katie was wonderful to work with. When we arrived it was ready to go! The layout its a little awkward at first (having to go thru the bedroom to get to the kitchen) but you soon get used to it. The walls are a little thin so if you are noise sensitive this could be an issue. One half mile pleasant walk to City Park and trolley car.
My girlfriend and I booked this place for our first ever trip to New Orleans. It's a 2-3 mile cab ride (easy on a bike) to the French Quarter, and also within walking or short commuting distance to many other awesome restaurants and attractions. There's a bayou and a huge park just down the street that I'm told is 50% larger than Central Park. Neighborhood was safe and cozy. Neighbors were very helpful and friendly as well. We went a week before mardi gras, so plenty of parades, but not as crazy as you'd expect on Fat Tuesday.
