We spent a great deal of time on the front porch due to the great view of the park and the distant view of the water. Location was great, just a 1/2 mile walk to downtown. The home was old but fairly well maintained. The kitchen, however, could definitely use an upgrade. It was worn and somewhat dirty. Many of the dishes and glasses were chipped and dusty. Tires were flat on the bicycles. Suggest when you arrive and leave that someone accompany you throughout the house to verify that there are no issues. We were notified 2 1/2 weeks after leaving that there we're burn marks on the kitchen counter. The counter was old and had several cut marks in it. No one in our party recalls burn marks before we left. In fact, the cleaning crew came in as we were packing up to leave and commented how clean the place looked. All in all it was an enjoyable experience unfortunately marred by an issue with the return of the security deposit.
We stayed here with our two young children (5 and 1) for a few days in early June. You couldn't ask for a better location, particularly since the weather wasn't completely cooperative. It is a very short walk to the beach, or to the arcade when rainy. The park across the street was a great place to fly kites or just run around. There is no partking at the house, but plenty of on street parking. As you can see from the photo, the house is pretty close to the street. The street was busier than I expected, but only during the day.
The house itself is very clean and well maintained. It is an older home and has some of the "quirks" to be expected with a home of that era (some sloping floors, narrow steep stairs, and an unusual layout). The kitchen is not fancy, but has everything you need. The main bathroom upstairs is modern and very functional. The second bathroom downstairs is very small, but serves its purpose. The beds were comfortable enough (although the sheets from the rental company were terrible! - bring your own if you can)
The owner was very friendly, prompt and reliable. There is someone on the island to help if needed, but we did not have any problems.
