CULTURAL PLAYGROUND OF THE EAST 2 BED COTTAGE, 5 MINS WALK TO THE RED LION INN.

Stockbridge Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Newly listed. Two bedroom 1600+sf. cottage in Historic District of Stockbridge.

New to HomeAway/VRBO for Fall 2014, we do have a few nights available for August 2014. See reviews of The Cultural Playground on AirBnB.

This 1600 sq. ft. cottage boasts everything you would need for your visit to the Berkshires whether it be for a full summer / winter season to explore this beautiful area or a quick getaway to Tanglewood,

The recently added master suite features a queen size bed, en-suite bathroom and a bonus separate sitting area.

The second bedroom features two twin beds (or 1 king) and two closets.

There is an additional queen size sofa bed in the sun room bringing total beds to 5 with a maximum occupancy of 6+ (but remember ... only two bathrooms)

The large living area boasts a beautifully lighted sun room with all round windows for wonderful views of the river, golf course and sunset or could be used as an ideal artist's spot.

The main living area has a full size fireplace and two large sofas.

The kitchen includes a microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, gas oven and stove stop, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer

5 minutes walk to several restaurants and shops in Stockbridge town center. A pleasant 1.1 mile stroll to the Norman Rockwell Museum (ask us for the picturesque woodland route) 5 minutes drive to Tanglewood.

Easy access to Tanglewood and all the delights of the Berkshire summer season including the many stages of the Berkshire Theatre Festival.

Ask us about Tanglewood tickets and picnic equipment for the 2014 season.

This 2 bedroom 2 bath cottage dates from the 1800's and was the former carriage house of the 1792 built main house. Norman Rockwell's close friend Doctor Donald Campbell used part of the main house as his doctor's office and is featured in the Rockwell painting 'Before the Shot'.

Other nearby attractions include the Norman Rockwell Museum, Chesterwood, Jacobs Pillow, Kripalu Yoga Center, The Mount (Edith Warton's wonderful property), Canyon Ranch and the Cranwell Resort and Spa in the neighboring village of Lenox, Stockbridge Bowl, Berkshire Botanical Garden and Alice's Restaurant to name just a few.

Winter wonderland with nearby ski areas; Butternut (10 minutes), Catamount (25 minutes) and Jiminy Peak (40 minutes). Miles of cross country skiing right from the back yard of the property.

Central air conditioning will be available for the inevitable heat wave during Tanglewood season. ( 1 room will have a window A/C)

We are dog friendly but will charge a small extra cleaning fee and a refundable pet deposit. Please let us know your pets details before you arrive. We discourage leaving your dog alone but if we are around we will consider dog sitting while you go to the theatre.

2 parking spaces are available next to the house, street parking available.

This is a non smoking property.

We have just joined HomeAway ready for the Fall 2014 season although we do have a few days available for Aug 2014

Ruth & Gareth purchased this cottage in 2005

The cottage is part of a 1792 built estate that was once owned by Norman Rockwell's great friend Doctor Donald Campbell. The Doctor and his family appear in many of Rockwell's paintings including the most famous Before the Shot that was actually painted in part of the main house that was the doctors surgery.
