A New Tradition

Bliss. From the minute my friend and I walked through the gate, we knew we were in for the kind of memory that keeps you company during long stretches stuck in LA, braving the smog and traffic. In fact, there were several times over the weekend when I was so obviously in the middle of what was going to be an amazing memory that I had to convince myself not to get nostalgic for what was still happening right in front of me. This isn't a memory yet, it's actually happening, it really is this nice, try to hold on.
Now I'm back in LA, alas, working to meet the next in an endless cycle of deadlines and demands. Now, the weekend actually is a memory, keeping me company at my desk. Like all memories, I'll carry it with me -- walking through the door to hear the laughter of my friends who'd already arrived, waking up to see the ranch for the first time in the full light of day, walking into town to purchase the toothbrush I thought I forgot ... I'll carry them all, in the hope that the memories eventually grow into something more. Maybe a tradition -- something to both look back on and look forward to. A home away from home. - Written by T.S.
