This eco-friendly, river front home in Colrain, Massachusetts is situated in a slice of rural paradise, yet close to downtown historic Shelburne Falls and year-round recreational activities.
The house is situated on 2.9 acres of flatland and wooded slope down to the beach edge of the North river where you can set in your row boat. Jump from rock to rock through the shallower section of the river or follow the river a half mile downstream to the intersection with the Deerfield River and popular swimming hole.
The 1280 square foot house includes a large 20’ x 28’great room including kitchen, dining and living areas, with 24 feet of glass wall. The kitchen has new appliances including dishwasher and gas range. Concrete counters are easy to maintain and open shelving above the counters enables easy finding and reaching of the full array of dishes and cups.
Three bedrooms and 1 ½ baths are down the hall. Two small bedroom each have a twin bed, while the master bedroom has a queen.
The house was built with attention to a healthy interior. Non-toxic materials are used throughout, including natural wax finish on walls and woodwork and all local solid wood. Passive solar heating and a radiant floor heat work to keep the interior very comfortable and energy efficient.
Since his apprenticeship at Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio, Noah Grunberg has designed and built homes for those desiring a lifestyle closer to nature. After 12 years of custom design and building, he formed Noble Home LLC to design and manufacture eco-friendly kit homes that are easy enough to build by anyone who dreams of building their own home.
Noah lives with his wife and two children in Shelburne Falls who all enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
The Riverfront Getaway was built in 2013 as a Noble Home Demonstration house. It was built by Noah and other local artisans to exhibit his unique building system and the use of non-toxic materials both inside and out.

The Pioneer Valley and the scenic and historic Mohawk Trail in the Berkshire foothills is rich with natural beauty, talented artisans, four season recreation and an atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. You can see natural wonders such as the potholes right in Shelburne Falls as well as walk the famous Bridge of Flowers that has seen visitors from every state and dozens of countries. There is plenty of arts and culture to get immersed in including various festivals and agricultural fairs in almost every town around.
The nearby village of Shelburne Falls, just 2 miles down the road, is an historic landmark and has plenty of old world charm with modern amenities. Shelburne Falls was featured on ABC 5's Chronicle as their 'Mystery Town' last year. You can get groceries or a good cup of coffee or a vegan meal. Galleries host some unique and well made crafts and highlight work by some notable craftspeople who live in the area. Modeled after a similar community dinner in France, the annual Iron Bridge Dinner features a single table set with linens and china for 400 people along the entire span of the Iron Bridge over the Deerfield River that connects the towns of Buckland and Shelburne. Diners have a wonderful view of the world famous Bridge of Flowers.
