Our names are Dell & Ina Bolick. We have been married for 49 years and have lived on this property where Dell was raised for 45 years. We have 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We are both semi-retired, Dell being a crane operator and I am a potter. We both enjoy spending time with our family. Dell is a hunter and I enjoy working in my flowers.
The older part of this cabin was first used as a barn. Built in Montgomery County NC, it is believed to have been in the late
1800’s to very early 1900’s.
My daddy, M.L. Owens bought the barn from a family member of the original owner in the late 1970’s. He took it down and moved it to his and mama’s property at Owens Pottery in Seagrove, NC and rebuilt it there. After his death in 2003 my brothers and sisters gave us the cabin. We numbered each log as we took it down and moved it here in 2004. We began rebuilding it in 2006 with a new addition. After five years of hard but loving work, we completed the cabin restoration in August of 2011.
The land that it stands on was given to us by Dell’s dad and mama, Vernon and Macie Bolick. All of the land surrounding us here has been in the Bolick family for many generations. We are proud of our heritage.
The name “Viola’s Cabin” is in Loving Memory of my sister Viola Owens Brady, who’s dream was to have a mountain cabin. Viola passed away in 1989 before that dream was possible. We wanted to share her dream with others who love the mountains as much as we do.
We are located just 3 short miles from shopping, restaurants, skiing and many other area attractions so no matter what you choose to do on your vacation, you won't have to travel too far. I enjoy the peace and quiet of the morning on my front porch with a cup of coffee. Listening the the crickets at night and going for a walk in the evening.
