The Haymeadow Creek Cabin is the perfect combination of cabin coziness and modern amenities. In the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan half way between Seney and Grand Marais near the shore of Lake Superior in big snow country.

The cabin has comfortable furnishings and cabin decor. The living room has a 50' flat Plasma HDTV w/home theater surround sound system,DVD collection, Directv, Netflix & gas fireplace. The kitchen is fully furnished with stainless steel refridgerator, ice maker, microwave, stove, garbage disposal and dishwasher. 1 bedroom has 2 queen size beds.1 bedroom has a full size bed. 1 bedroom has a full size bunk beds and the middle walk thru large closet has a single size murphy bed. There is also a sofa sleeper and big couch in the living room. We are pet friendly. Enjoy the Haymeadow Creek Cabin in all four seasons. We are located in the snowbelt of the U.P. Snowmobiling is available long after the snow has melted in other areas. A major trail head is just around the corner. Plenty of plowed parking in the winter is available for sleds and large trailers. Kayak the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore or relax on the beach at Grand Marais Harbor. The sportsman will love hunting and fishing along with the spectacular autumn colors.

Why the Owner Chose Grand Marais: Located in the heart of the snowbelt and minutes away from Lake Superior and Grand Marais to the North and to the South the town of Seney and the famed Fox River where Hemingway is reported to have fished. Both communities offer restaurants, stores, gas stations, and taverns that welcome visitors. Area offers literally thousands of acres for the sportsman to hunt, fish, snowmobile, ORV, or hike and explore.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Seclusion from the hustle and bustle of town, no phones ringing, camp fires at night, star gazing, and the pure bliss of the sounds of nature. Pull up a chair on the front porch, grab a good book and watch the birds. Hike, canoe, kayak, hunt, fish, snowmobile, snow shoe or cross country ski out the back door.

About Scott Janke

I'm an avid outdoorsman who love's to hunt, fish, snowmobile, and spend time with family and friends around the campfire on a starry night. I believe in work hard, play hard and love the challenge of exploring this wonderful playground and all it has to offer.

.

Scott Janke purchased this cabin in 1996
Why Scott Janke chose Grand Marais

The cabin is located in the middle of the snowbelt that ranges from Munising to Whitefish Pt. There are thousands of acres of wilderness which is either state owned or privately held by corporate or private owners. Miles upon miles of country that one can use and explore. The access to the cabin is key during the winter, we are located on the state highway instead of in a remote area where it is difficult to get into during or after heavy snowfall.

What makes this cabin unique

We offer all the comforts of home with the cabin atmosphere.

We couldn't have enjoyed our time at Haymeadow Creek anymore than we did. Everything was as described and it is the ideal location for a snowmobile trip. We would highly recommend the cabin to anyone interested in a UP excursion. Cabin is clean, well-stocked and the service was great. See ya next year.

Winter Wonderland (spring break 2012)

Submitted: March 10, 2012 Stayed: March 2012
This was a perfect choice in areas for us to stay. We came UP to snowmobile, and luckily there was a snow storm that dumped over a foot and a half of the fresh stuff the evening prior to our reservation. We couldn't have asked for any better conditions on or off the trail! When we arrived at the cabin it was difficult to get into the driveway, but the neighbors were extremely helpful, in coming over to let us know someone would be there shortly to plow us out. (It was a sunday following a major snow storm, so plows trucks were very busy.) We did arrive about an hour early, hoping to get an early start at riding. That was the only glitch in our trip. The cabin was awesome, it had everything anyone would need for a pleasant stay. We would definitely come back and stay again. Easy access to the trails was a plus. Our teenage children built snowmen and a couple of snow forts in the large back yard. They had a blast. Hope to come back soon. Scott was easy to work with and the neighbors and cleaning people were extremely nice also.
Owner's Response: So glad you had great conditions after our unusual Michigan winter, the average annual snowfall in the snowbelt is 200"plus and as much as 300"in years past. Glad your family enjoyed the stay and hope to see you next year.
Thank you!

Perfect Get Away

If you have ever dreamed about having an “up north” cabin in the woods this is it ! Very cozy and warm with many modern conveniences to occupy any free time that may arise. This cabin is located 100% in the heart of big snow country ! Very meticulously maintained and well decorated to say the least.
The owners obliviously have one thing in mind here and that is to accommodate. This is evident by the amount of detail the entire cabin displays from the nicely decorated bedrooms to the well equipped kitchen….Everything you need is right here at your fingertips.
We went there to snowmobile and it was so nice having the trails so close, no need to trailer out to staging areas or beat the pavement to get into the woods. Scott is very pleasant to deal with and seems to go well out of his way to make sure your “time away” goes smooth. I can guarantee if you visit you will return….Highly recommended !
Hats off to the Janke’s for allowing us into their home and for sharing such a wonderful treasure with us. Thank You !
Owner's Response: Thank you Jerry!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed your time at the Haymeadow and your riding conditions where very good according to the pictures you guys sent me. There's nothing better than being the first sled down that freshly snowed upon trail. I heard reports it snowed 13" over Saturday night and I'm happy to see you took advantage of it with a early morning ride, it's nice to jump on the sleds and ride from the back of the cabin onto the trails. I look forward to having your group back anytime, and hopefully soon!
Thanks again,

Great Cabin

This place is fantastic, it's right off the snowmobile trail halfway between Seney and Grand Marais. The cabin is roomy and well appointed with flat screen Tvs and wireless. It has a great kitchen and will easily sleep 6. Scott was easy to deal with and very accessible . I recommend this cabin.
Owner's Response: Thanks Dave! Glad to hear you guys enjoyed the cabin and location to the trails as much as we do. I have just purchased a cell phone booster which will make a huge improvement on the cellular service at the cabin as well. We look forward to your group staying with us again next year, please let me know the dates you want to reserve. It was enjoyable dealing with you and the other guys, thanks again!

Our 2012 snowmobile trip

4 of 5
Submitted: January 8, 2012 Stayed: January 2012
The cabin is clean and well organized. All the amenities are new and easy to use. There was plenty of room for the three of us to watch tv & movies, eat, sleep and have fun.

The close proximity of the cabin to M-77 and the groomed snowmobile trails is a plus. We visited some of our favorite snowmobile friends & locations like: Rob at the Seney Bar, Wendy at the Bear Trap, Dave at the Lake Superior Brewing Co, Foggie at Foggy's Bar and Larry at Red-Z Wolf Inn.

Special thanks to the Road commission and the 4 Grand Marias & Seney snowmobile groomers that kept the roads and groomed snowmobile trails in good to excellent condition.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! Sounds like you had a great time Bill, glad you where able to enjoy the same hangouts as we do. It's nice to be centrally located and having the trails out the back door is a big plus. Being in the middle of it all offers alot of variety and choice for riding as you can take a different route each day. Happy New Year!
