Construction Right Next Door

I woke up every weekday morning at 7:00 a.m. from the hammering. At 7:30 it changed to power tools and trucks working on landscaping some of which was only a few yards from my porch/windows. (This was my first vacation in about 7 years so it was pretty disappointing.)
Wireless worked the first night but not after that. I did report it but it wasn't fixed.
This is an extension from the main home. Homeowner lives next door. Can sometimes hear walking and talking but not intrusive.
Place needs updating. Bidet is cracked. Paint in the shower peeling. Fan in the shower doesn't work and makes an awful grinding noise. Bring beach towels, toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, sponges, etc.
Bath towels and bed linens were included. Great hot water and water pressure. Very pretty view. Can hear the ocean when the workmen stopped.
Too bad because it could be a great place. I believe it was significantly overpriced considering the circumstances. $1200 with Internet and no noise would be closer to the right price. I probably won't use Homeaway.com again because of this experience.
Owner's Response: Unfortunately, someone bought the house next door, and renovations are taking longer than expected. I wish I could change that - but so do they! I do live here also, and for the most part have not found the noise to be bothersome. I haven't had complaints from anyone else, but the landscapers did come pretty close one morning.
I was not informed that the lack of wireless was an ongoing problem. As soon as I saw this review, I bought a new router and there is no more problem.
I've never before had a complaint about the shower fan. The power switch is oddly located outside the bathroom, I imagine a lot of people don't turn it on. Again, until I read this review, I didn't know, and it's being replaced this week.
True, I only supply bed linens and bath towels, but I am one of few properties in the area who even does that. I am sorry that this guest was more prepared for a hotel.
I did know that the bidet is cracked. It is perfectly functional, however, for the very few people who seem to use it. So it will remain as is.
I deeply regret that Stephanie S. was unhappy about so many things. I certainly could have taken steps to improve her visit if she had communicated her issues to me.
I urge all my guests to ask whatever questions they have both in advance and while they are here, and to please let me know if they are less than happy about anything. You have to seek me out; because I DO live here, I make an effort to keep a low profile so that my guests have a lot of privacy. But I am almost always available, very easy to contact and quick to respond. I find that the happier my guests are, the happier I am. Most of my guests feel that they are in a very special place when they are here, and that's the way I want it.
