QUAINT COUNTRY COTTAGE WITH YOUR OWN PRIVATE BACKYARD POND

London Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Studio cottage with magnificant wooded views all around.

Fall has arrived, and with it opens up a whole different atmosphere to this beautiful piece of property. Imagine sitting outdoors under a star lit evening, being mesmerized by the dancing flames from the fire pit.

Or, if you prefer, sit on the oversized back deck by day and enjoy the vivid color of the forest trees as they put on a show of beautiful colors including reds, yellows and brown.

Located within the confines of the Daniel Boone National Forest, this property is secluded yet not remote. It is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and leave all of your worries behind.

From the 1/2 acre pond just a few steps away to the rolling hills and mature forest beyond, your eyes will behold the beauty and wonders that abound here.

Gaze at the ripples on the pond, or watch for turkey or deer meandering through the nearby fields. Feel free to pet or feed carrots and apples to our three horses. The horses love our guests, especially ones who come bearing treats for them!

Three private, stocked ponds are on the property. One pond, already mentioned, is directly behind the cottage; it is stocked with blue gill and has a floating dock. Feel free to fish, or just and catch some warm rays from the sun. Another small pond (stocked with blue gill and bass), is just a short walk away from the cottage. The third pond, a 1/2 acre in size, is down a hill, a short distance away. It is surrounded by mature woods all around and is a very scenic place. It is stocked primarily with small mouth bass of all sizes.

The inside of this cottage is loaded with character and charm; it even has a real tree trunk in it! You are sure to be pleased when you see all the amenities that are included; just bring your clothes, food, and drinks. See the 'amenities' section to see all that we supply for you. The cottage is equipped with WIFI service so you may keep in touch with family and friends.

The gas log fireplace is surrounded by a genuine, fieldstone chimney and provides a romantic atmosphere to the bedroom area. The living room has a 32 inch flat screen television, lazy boy recliner, and a couch that converts into a queen sized sleeper.

Finished original wood flooring in the kitchen, livingroom, and bedroom adds a rustic touch to the inside.

This rental property is owner maintained and cleaned; it is immaculate!

Feel free to build a fire in the fire pit that is in the backyard. No need to bring firewood as we supply the wood for you. It's a great way to end a perfect day.

This property is conveniently located 3 miles off I-75 and a short drive from London. It is ideal for a weekend get away, a week long stay, a romantic escape, or a place to stay instead of a cookie cutter motel room. We welcome one night stays; the only exceptions are holiday weekends where we require a 3 night min. stay at those times.

For people who are off road enthusiasts, Wildcat Adventures, a new off road park featuring 70 miles of trails, is only three miles away.

Mt. Vernon, home of Renfro Valley Music Center, is a short drive away.

Certain restrictions apply as to whether we allow children under certain ages or pets. Please ask.

Cumberland Falls State Park, the 'Niagara of the South' is 42 miles away, approx. 40 min. drive. It is a 'must see' to put on your list of things to do!

About Julee Skarka

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside. We currently have a small farm and raise chickens and have three pleasure horses for our personal use.

Julee Skarka purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Julee Skarka chose London

We love horses and living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.

What makes this cottage unique

We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for both horseback riding and hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.

We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.

Wonderful get-away weekend

  • 4 of 5
Very much enjoyed our stay to get away from busy schedules and routines! The cottage is nicely "rustic" and adequately equipped. Julee was very easy to work with and available if needed. Had a great time fishing and watching the hummingbirds - have never seen so many in one place before - fascinating!! Hope to plan a trip back and will recommend to friends who need a break from life's hustle and bustle!

Natural Perfection

  • 5 of 5
Wish I could give this place ten stars.....the only way our stay here could have been improved would be by extending our vacation time. This adorable, immaculate cottage has all amenities, and is set on beautifully maintained grounds. We spent hours in the glider on the back porch.... watching the numerous hummingbirds whizzing by, the chipping sparrow mama feeding her baby, the squirrel jumping from tree to tree, the barn reflection in the pond changing its look as the day progressed, and loving the divine quiet and simple beauty of the surroundings. Heaven. We brought some groceries and our clothes....everything else we needed was supplied. The owners, Julee and Pete, live elsewhere on the property so are handy if you need them. We found them to be exceptional people.....friendly, helpful, hardworking. We loved being able to feed apples and carrots to their sweet-tempered horses and bringing fish food to the bluegills in the pond, watching them follow us from the end of the pond to the dock where we fed them. The cottage is well-situated... private and secluded but still close enough to restaurants and activities. We would recommend The Old Town Grill in nearby London for dinner....wonderful service and excellent food. Gondolier's, also in London, has great pizza. Camp Wildcat, just up the road from cottage, provides lots of interesting info on Civil War battle fought there plus a nice little hike. We enjoyed Natural Bridge State Park, taking the skylift to top and hiking the two miles down. Rockcastle Trading Co. in nearby Livingston has to be seen to be believed.... garden store, pond, trail, and private residence on fantastically designed and maintained grounds. Kayaking down the Rockcastle River was our favorite activity away from the cottage....beautiful scenery and solitude. Just Kik-n-It Ranch supplied the kayak trip....owner Kristen Harper was wonderful. If we could have packed up this sweet cottage with its quietly gorgeous land, we would have brought them home with us in a heartbeat.

Relax and stay a while

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was delightful. Totally relaxing. Sitting on the deck gazing at the pond and barn, listening to the birds, and watching the hummingbirds was bliss. Walked down to pet the horses and saw the fish and frogs in the pond. House was very clean and had everything you would need for a visit. Thank you!

Little Bit of Kentucky Heaven

  • 5 of 5
Everything about this little cottage was absolutely perfect! Very clean and comfortable, the grounds were amazing and the ponds tremendous. It was more than met our expectations! The cottage was stocked well with towels, spices, cooking equipment, and a grill. Firewood was always available for us to use when making a bonfire. The hummingbirds were beautiful to watch and we loved getting to feed the horses carrots in the evenings.
The owners are such very nice people!. They were sociable, helpful and yet gave us our privacy. They cared very much that we enjoyed our stay! They supplied great directions to the cottage and told us where we could go to the grocery store upon our arrival.
We highly recommend this cottage when visiting around the London, Kentucky area. In fact, we posted pictures on one of our social media websites, and many of our friends and family members have expressed interest in visiting this little bit of Kentucky Heaven.
While visiting this area we also enjoyed Cumberland Falls Park, Wildcat Mountain Civil War Battlefield and the trails, and the Vendor's Mall. Such a lovely area.
We travel quite a bit, and if there is a more friendly, warm, inviting and serene location; we have yet to find it!-- We love this place!

Beautiful peaceful vacation cottage

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the cottage was one of the most peaceful vacations ever. We have never seen so many hummingbirds in one place. The fishing in the ponds was excellent! My son caught 2 large mouth bass and had lots of fun catching pan fish in the pond. The horses were so much fun to be around too and we all enjoyed feeding them carrots every day! None of us wanted to leave. Julee and Pete are excellent hosts and we will definitely be back again!!!
