COUNTRY COTTAGE: WATCH NUMEROUS HUMMINGBIRDS UP CLOSE!

London Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom cottage with breathtaking views all around.

From the moment you arrive, you cannot help but notice the spectacular views that surround this cottage. Located within the confines of the Daniel Boone National Forest, it is secluded, yet not remote, making it a perfect place to relax, recharge, and escape 'back to nature'.

From the 1/2 acre pond just a few steps away to the rolling hills and mature forest beyond, you will feel right at home.

As you sit and relax on the spacious, covered back deck, enjoy the cool summer breeze that blows gently over you as you watch what seems like hundreds of hummingbirds feed close by. Sometimes you can get within a foot of these busy birds! Makes for great photo opportunities! Gaze at the ripples on the pond, or watch for turkey or deer meandering through the nearby fields. Enjoy the three resident horses. The horses love visitors, especially ones who come bearing apples and carrots!

Three private, stocked ponds are on the property. One pond, already mentioned, is directly behind the cottage; it is stocked with blue gills and has a floating dock. Feel free to cool your feet in the water, fish, or just catch some warm rays from the sun. Another small pond (stocked), is just a short walk away from the cottage. The third pond, a 1/2 acre in size, is down a hill, a short distance away. It is surrounded by mature woods all around and is a very scenic place. It is stocked primarily with small mouth bass of all sizes.

Built in the late 1800's, this cottage has retained it's character and charm, yet has been updated with modern amenities for your comfort and convenience. There is WIFI service within the cottage so that you can keep in touch with friends and family.

The seasonal gas log fireplace surrounded by a genuine, fieldstone chimney provides a romantic atmosphere to the bedroom area.

Finished original wood flooring in the kitchen, livingroom, and bedroom adds to the charm of the cottage.

For a detailed description of the many amenities this cottage contains, see the 'Amenities' section.

This rental property is owner maintained and cleaned; it is immaculate!

Feel free to build a fire in the fire pit that is in the backyard. No need to bring firewood as we supply the wood for you. Be mesmerized as you watch the dancing flames. The bull frogs in the pond will serenade you with their sounds as the night sets in.

This cottage is conveniently located 3 miles off I-75 and a short drive from London.

For people who are off road enthusiasts, Wildcat Adventures, a new off road park featuring 70 miles of trails, is only three miles away.

Mt. Vernon, home of Renfro Valley Music Center, is a short drive away.

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside. We currently have a small farm and raise chickens and have three pleasure horses for our personal use.

Julee Skarka purchased this cottage in 2001

We love horses and living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.

We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for both horseback riding and hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.

We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.

LITTLE BIT OF KENTUCKY HEAVEN

  • 5 of 5
Everything about this little cottage was absolutely perfect! Very clean and comfortable, the grounds were amazing and the ponds tremendous. It was more than met our expectations! The cottage was stocked well with towels, spices, cooking equipment, and a grill. Firewood was always available for us to use when making a bonfire. The hummingbirds were beautiful to watch and we loved getting to feed the horses carrots in the evenings.
The owners are such very nice people!. They were sociable, helpful and yet gave us our privacy. They cared very much that we enjoyed our stay! They supplied great directions to the cottage and told us where we could go to the grocery store upon our arrival.
We highly recommend this cottage when visiting around the London, Kentucky area. In fact, we posted pictures on one of our social media websites, and many of our friends and family members have expressed interest in visiting this little bit of Kentucky Heaven.
While visiting this area we also enjoyed Cumberland Falls Park, Wildcat Mountain Civil War Battlefield and the trails, and the Vendor's Mall. Such a lovely area.
We travel quite a bit, and if there is a more friendly, warm, inviting and serene location; we have yet to find it!-- We love this place!

BEAUTIFUL PEACEFUL VACATION COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the cottage was one of the most peaceful vacations ever. We have never seen so many hummingbirds in one place. The fishing in the ponds was excellent! My son caught 2 large mouth bass and had lots of fun catching pan fish in the pond. The horses were so much fun to be around too and we all enjoyed feeding them carrots every day! None of us wanted to leave. Julee and Pete are excellent hosts and we will definitely be back again!!!

GRANDMA

  • 5 of 5
We drove in after dark and when we woke early, it was WOW moment! My husband, myself and two grandsons were all up early. The horses came to greet us and were welcomed by the boys with carrots and they promptly gave the horses new names.

Fishing was a hit with grandsons in the blue gill pond after we took a quick run for bait. I took some awesome morning pictures of the pond with barn reflection on it. The boys and I walked to the bass pond and fished a short while. Going down was not so bad but coming back up for Grandma was tough.

The house was immaculate and everything we needed was there. The owners were wonderful to us and really there to see we enjoyed the vacation week end. I really appreciate the extra effort they showed for our grandsons.

I would definitely stay again and really hope to do that in the near future. One grandson called it Paradise and left crying because he had to leave the horses. Thank you Pete and Julie for all your hard work there and for sharing it with others.

PERFECT HOME AWAY FROM HOME..

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here at this beautiful lil cottage, it was everything we imagined and more. From the nature hikes around the cottage, laying on the dock basking in the sun, feeding and petting the horses, the one on one time with my husband, to the relaxing and romantic fire lit nights around the camp fire...it was truly a wonderful experience. There is also plenty to do off the property as well, as we went to Cumberland Falls and seen the water falls and did some rock climbing and hiking on the trails provided and the trails we made on our own, the Dog Patch Trading Center was fun to walk around and The Old Town Grill was a delicious place to eat with friendly at home service, the Harley Davidson store was absolutely gorgeous and the flea markets were a perfect way to spend our Sunday. All in all we had a great time and cannot wait to be able to go back. I can definitely tell you we will be spending many future weekends at this quiet lil cottage, we were missing it as we were driving away. Oh and the Dollar Bill game was sooooo fun :) Thanks Julee and Pete for a memorable stay and many more to come!

A WONDERFUL PLACE

  • 5 of 5
This is an idyllic little cottage. The hosts are wonderful welcoming people, and are very careful not to be intrusive, but are there if you need them. Julee even had homemade cinnamon bread waiting for me.
The cottage was well equipped--it has everything you could need. I'm very particular about cleanliness, and this little place is spotless.
It's a really sweet cottage--the fireplace is wonderful! The little place is as cozy and comfortable as can be. You are close enough to London for everything to be convenient, but far out in the country enough that you have peace and quiet, beautiful vistas and breathtaking skies at night. I saw deer and rabbits, made friends with Julee's horses and enjoyed the antics of the wonderful little birds that come for the feeders on the porch. I would love to see this place in all seasons. It is a magical, and I hated to leave it.
