|Minimum Stay||1 - 2 nights|
Looking for a great get away? This may be the place for you.
It may be the winter season, but that does not mean there is nothing to do or to view on this beautiful piece of property!
First, there's the beautiful 1/2 acre pond located directly behind the cottage. Watch the gentle waves lap upon the shore; it is a sure way to soothe your soul.
If you like to bird watch, you will see birds of all varities feed at the nearby feeders. Their antics are very entertaining.
Feel free to take a walk around the property; breathe in the fresh, country air. It's a great way to clear your mind, and you may even get a chance to view some deer or turkey.
Located within the confines of the Daniel Boone National Forest, this property is secluded yet not remote. It is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and leave all of your worries behind.
From the 1/2 acre pond just a few steps away to the rolling hills and mature forest beyond, your eyes will behold the beauty and wonders that abound here.
Feel free to pet or feed carrots and apples to our three horses. The horses love our guests, especially ones who come bearing treats for them!
There are two private stocked ponds on the property for your fishing pleasure. The first pond, already mentioned, is directly behind the cottage; it is stocked with blue gill and has a floating dock. Another small pond (stocked with blue gill and bass), is just a short walk away from the cottage.
The inside of this cottage is loaded with character and charm; it even has a real tree trunk in it! You are sure to be pleased when you see all the amenities that are included; just bring your clothes, food, and drinks, plus fishing poles and bait if you plan on doing some fishing. See the 'amenities' section to see all that we supply for you. The cottage is equipped with WIFI service so you may keep in touch with family and friends.
It is well equipped to give you all the warmth you need, no matter how chilly it is outdoors. A more than sufficient wall heater in the bedroom area, plus a smaller heater located in the bathroom will keep you as warm as you want to be.
A gas log fireplace is an additional source of heat, and is enclosed in a genuine, fieldstone chimney spanning from floor to ceiling. The fireplace faces towards the bed and gives a romantic glow to the bedroom. (ask about our romantic VIP offer!)
The living room has a 32 inch flat screen television with Dish net service, lazy boy recliner, and a couch that converts into a queen sized sleeper bed.
Finished original wood flooring in the kitchen, livingroom, and bedroom adds a rustic touch to the inside.
This property is owner maintained and cleaned; it is immaculate!
Feel free to build a fire in the fire pit that is in the backyard. No need to bring firewood as we supply the wood for you. It's a great way to end a perfect day.

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside. We currently have a small farm and raise chickens and have three pleasure horses for our personal use, plus Holstein calves.
Julee Skarka purchased this cottage in 2001
We love horses and living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.
We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for both horseback riding and hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.
We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.
