Overview

Bakersville Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms , 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Come and relax in a completely renovated 3-bedroom, 2-bath chalet with the most breathtaking views of the Appalachians.

Located just three miles north of Downtown Bakersville, smooth well-maintained paved roads take you to our newly-surfaced gravel driveway, a safe and easy ride for any vehicle. You will not be disappointed with the amenities you’ll enjoy during your stay. This home sleeps six vacationers in comfort.

Downstairs you’ll find the “Purple Room”, a beautifully decorated large bedroom with a comfortable, king-sized bed and premium furnishings. Next door is the “Pumpkin Room”. This fun room is perfect for two little ones, but can also sleep two adults in separate twin beds. The downstairs bath features custom cabinetry, a clear glass vessel sink, and a standard bath tub.

The Master Bedroom is privately situated on the 2nd floor with its own gorgeous bathroom. Enjoy the mission-style king-sized bedroom suite with new memory foam mattress. The full, but compact spaced bathroom features a custom frameless glass shower enclosure.

Downstairs, the gourmet kitchen features custom cherry cabinets and an elegant granite countertop and backsplash. All new appliances and everything you need is available so you can cook as much or as little as you like on your vacation. The deep double sink makes cleanup easy.

The living room features a mission-style desk and a comfortable leather couch and chair, the perfect place to sit and read, surf the Internet on the free high-speed Wi-Fi, or enjoy the home theater with its 42” HDTV, Blu-ray player, and Dish Network HD programming. The Bluetooth soundbar makes listening to your music a breeze.

The gas fireplace keeps things warm on winter nights and sets a romantic mood. The beautiful mission-style fireplace surround is topped by a mantle featuring the same granite found in the kitchen. On the walls you’ll find some of the owner’s photographs on canvas, many shot in the surrounding area.

The deck just off the living area features a new gas grill, and offers incredible views of the Roan Mountain range and the valley below. Enjoy the cool mornings with a cup of coffee on the deck. Evening meals outside are a treat on the massive glass dining table. Enjoy a walk through the surrounding woods with their granite outcroppings. Keep an eye out for the frequent whitetail deer and wild turkey.

Just four miles away (as the crow flies) at the top of Roan Mountain is the NC/TN state line. The Appalachian Trail runs along its summit, and several other easy trails take you to stunning scenic overlooks. An easy 30-minute walk along the Trail takes you to Round Bald, where you'll feel like you're on top of the workd as you look down over both North Carolina and Tennessee.

If you saunter over to the top of the driveway and look south (the way you face coming up the driveway), you’ll see the Black Mountains, with the tallest visible peak being Mt. Celo. 25 minutes in that direction lies the Blue Ridge Parkway, and scenic day trips to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. Linville Gorge is off the Parkway, and is a must-see, as is nearby Grandfather Mountain, with its twin peaks and unique zoo.

Downtown Bakersville is just three miles down the road, and has interesting galleries, shops and cafes worth a visit. Just to the south is Spruce Pine, with several nice restaurants (don't miss the Knife and Fork) in its historic downtown, and all the amenities including an Ingles Grocery and a Super Wal-Mart. An hour’s drive away is Asheville, a charming city with lots of unique shops, restaurants and live music venues in the evenings.

If it’s winter sports that you come to the mountains for, both Sugar Mountain and Wolf Laurel ski resorts are less than an hour away.

Fall mini-vacation

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! It was grandma, grandpa, mom, dad and the 2 year old. I loved the kids room! He's too young to use it as is, but I could see some little boys LOVING it. I was very impressed at how well-stocked it was. We're used to renting barren houses at Jekyll for a week and having to pack everything, so it was a pleasant surprise to find more than the necessities. The view was amazing and location was central to what we were there for. The cabin was perfect size for us, cozy and comfortable. Very we'll decorated! I adored the local art displayed throughout. We will definitely stay again!

Spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

That is the only word I can use to describe the Pumpkin Patch Chalet! We were in town for the Apple Butter Festival. Last year and this year we had a booth to sale our books - A Life for Nancy, Daughter of Frankie Silver and Pen in Hand, David Parker Civil War Letters. We were so lucky to get the Pumpkin Patch as it has wonderful reviews and I can see why everyone would want to stay there.

The Pumpkin Patch is more equipped with necessities than any other cabin we have ever rented. The kitchen is amazing, the beds comfortable, the décor fits right in with the awesome view of Roan Mountain.

You need not bring anything but food, drink and clothes for a wonderful weekend at the chalet. You can bet we will be visiting again!!!

Wonderful place to stay in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in the Pumpkin Patch Chalet twice now, and we absolutely love it. The house is beautifully decorated, comfortable and very private. The owners have taken care to provide just about everything that tenants might need or want. We enjoy cooking in the well-equipped modern kitchen, as well as grilling and eating out on the back deck. We like the tastefully landscaped yard. Perhaps our favorite thing about the Pumpkin Patch is the fantastic and ever-changing views that it offers of Roan Mountain, one of the highest peaks in the Appalachians.

You couldn't choose a better place if you are interested, as we are, in taking hikes on the Appalachian Trail, or on any number of other trails that are fairly close by. The location is wonderful, even if you are just exploring by car--there is something new to see around every bend in the road.

All in all, this is a gem of a place and we highly recommend it.

Perfect Fall Getaway at Pumpkin Patch Chalet!!

  • 5 of 5

We SO enjoyed our stay at Pumpkin Patch Chalet! It is the perfect location for side trips to Emerald Village, Linville Caverns, Grandfather Mountain, and Linville Falls, all of which we enjoyed tremendously. Our four young children mostly enjoyed exploring the woods around the chalet while we parents sat on the beautiful deck with a glass of wine and enjoyed the amazing view. :) Your home is gorgeous and well stocked with everything we needed and more to have the perfect Fall getaway with our family. Thank you very much!!!

Hiking and Crafts

  • 5 of 5

My family had an excellent time staying at your cabin. The views were amazing! Many a hour was spent sitting on the deck watching the mountain and reading. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and hopefully we will be able to stay here again.

Bakersville has an excellent restaurant, Dot's Cafe, and two great crafts galleries, Crimson Laurel and Mica. Don't miss the Knife and Fork in Spruce Pine.

excellent location, beautiful home and great views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Pumpkin Patch for four nights in early July and loved it. The property is very well maintained, the house is nicely built and decorated, and the views are wonderful. This is the place to rent if you're interested in hiking around the Roan Mountain area. We will return, for sure!
