Need a quiet place to unwind and relax? This farm is 600 acres of oaks, dogwoods, pines and wildflowers surrounded by the Bankhead National Forest, with no neighbors in sight!
Why do we call it the River Art House? It sits on a bluff overlooking Clear Creek, the 'River' part. It was constructed by an artist named Art Fowler, whose original art still hangs throughout the cabin. Amazing!
IF you need more than 2 bedrooms and don't mind spreading your group out a bit, we also have the Bungalow cabin on the same property. Or if you would rather rent a bit smaller, more cozy spot, you may decide to rent only the Bungalow. We rent it for $80/night, plus cleaning fee. The Bungalow is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, living room and wonderful kitchen upstairs over the barn. It is about 100 yards from the River Art Cabin. The Bungalow has a nice deck overlooking a meadow that leads down to Clear Creek and the Secret Beach! It is a cozy and relaxing spot in and of itself. See the last few photos for what it looks like!
You may want to spend your days fishing or tubing the creek or exploring the incredible canyons of the Sipsey Wilderness. Perhaps you would enjoy mountain biking the miles of Bankhead National Forest roads near by. Love hiking and backpacking, the Sipsey has many miles of hiking trails.
Love to hunt? Check out the Bankhead National Forest! You can drive just a few miles and hunt on National Forest land.
Enjoy birdwatching? What about a night with no street lights for perfect stargazing? This is the place for you!
There is a full kitchen in both cabins, but if you'd rather not cook, hop in the car and run to Double Springs for a homecooked Italian meal at the Sapore Grill!
There are two bedrooms in the RIver Art Cabin, the Master bedroom has a king size bed and a private upstairs deck with a sliding glass door. There is a private Master bath also. The second bedroom has a bunk bed.
One of my favorite parts of the place is the Gazebo, a beautiful structure set atop a sandstone bluff overlooking a shoals of Clear Creek about 70 feet below. You can enjoy a sunset with a glass of wine sitting on the gazebo listening to the rippling creek below. Or wake up early and walk down the path to the gazebo with a hot cup of coffee.
You can stroll for miles on our dirt roads or walk down the path to Clear Creek and take a dip in the cool waters that are a tributary to Smith Lake.
Truly remote. This cottage is at the end of the road... literally! You will drive down a small country road for about 4 miles and when the road ends... you are home!

We bought this place for the pure joy of owning a remote piece of Nature on the banks of Clear Creek!
There is nothing quite like communing with nature in a beautiful place near a moving stream. You will find it valuable to spend some quiet time just sitting on the porch or gazebo and listening to nature!
The house was beautiful and well kept. It was exactly what we were looking for as for as the secluded setting and room for our dogs to run was concerned. We had a lovely time just relaxing. It should be noted though, wear good shoes and maybe long pants and bug spray before you head off to the secret beach. It is a wooded hike to the location and there are some sticker bushes and trees down on the beach also. Overall, we loved being out in the woods and the dogs loved running around.
This place was just as described. We wanted to go somewhere private and we definitely found it. We never left. We grilled everyday and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was very relaxing and just what we needed! I already miss sitting on the porch swing and listening to the radio while my husband grilled. The gazebo was very relaxing and we enjoyed the sound of the creek. The "secret beach" was the best! I laid out while my husband fished. He caught 8 bass in an hour! We are already planning to come back in a few months with the kids and grandbaby. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! Also, I saw previous reviews about phone service... We have AT&T and had full coverage. No problems anywhere on the property with calls, emails or texting. Thank you, for a wonderful and memorable few days!

P.S can't wait to add another rock to the window!
Great secluded location for our family trip! Maggie was very helpful and responded in a timely manner.
When our 12 year old announced that this was the best vacation ever, I knew i made a good choice. No WIFI, limited TV, and no cell phones. We got our family reconnected. The secret beach was awesome, as was the view from the Gazebo. The accomodations exceeded our ecpectations. We will be back.
Was a nice place to stay. Very quiet and secluded. Owners very nice and when I was booking the trip and had questions she answered them immediately. She even emailed us directions. Would stay there again.
This property is everything as advertised and more. The Gazebo provides a stunning view. The walk to the secret beach is beautiful, and upon arriving at the beach, it just gets better. House clean and spacious. If you are looking for an extremely secluded and beautiful escape, look no further.
