We are a family of five.We love other cultures and are often opening our home to friends and visitors. We are delighted when someone enjoys the country house that we love so much.
Ralph Taylor purchased this chateau / country house in 2006
Chilliwack is the summer recreation capital of B.C. We also refer to it as Whistler East since the house is above the snow line and the view is every bit as amazing as Whistler.
Serenity.Clean, fresh mountain air.
Reconnecting with nature.
Active lifestyle option.
We rented Mountainview for a family reunion and couldn't have been happier! With 12 adults and 2 children, this six bedroom home never once left us feeling like we were on top of each other, and considering we were there for a week, our comfort was priority. The kitchen and dining room more than met our needs, we never once ran into water issues (being that we were on a well).
The pool and hot tub were well maintained and used very often; the outdoor seating was more than we expected and considering the weather was so great, we took advantage of the deck, propane fireplace, fire pit and the views...the views which can be compared to nothing else!
Our stay at the Mountain View Country House last August was wonderful. Much thought went into the preparations. We had everything from an amazing mountainous view that changed by the minute with the passing light of the sun The air was fresh and wildlife were seen everyday.
For such a large space, it was warm and inviting and made our stay as a very large family, a trip to remember! We would definitely rent again! And though it is tucked up a mountain, it was surprisingly easy to get to and close enough to shopping and tourist venues...absolutely loved it!
We were a family of 17 (and for a couple of days 19) who spent 6 days celebrating grandma's 70th birthday with a family reunion. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious, beautiful house. Some reno's still in final stages of completion, but the house has a pool table, lots of movies, an amazing hot tub, huge kitchen which was very well supplied, internet access, decks overlooking the valley with absolutely stunning mountain views, and room enough for 17 people to stay very comfortably. No cell phone reception, but perhaps that was the biggest benefit of this house! The owners Sandra and Andre were absolutely amazing to deal with. We had some appliance issues and Andre went above and beyond to get it fixed very quickly. The house was spotlessly clean and most linen seemed brand new. Could have used more double beds instead of doubling two twin beds (which did not work well to create a queen).
Wish we had a few more days to enjoy this retreat, but I guess we will just have to go back in the summer!
Thank you for providing us with beautiful memories!
We spent one week at this property in August,2014. We were 3 families. The view is great, the pool and hot tub are great, the house is in need of a lot of repairs. The property has been rented out a lot and there are many broken or patched pieces in most rooms. There is one double bed upstairs and one downstairs (this is different than what is on the web site). If you are okay with rustic this is the place for you.
Wow number 1: Very private with stunning views of the mountains.
Wow number 2: Amazing interior space for a comfortable, multiple family reunion.
Wow number 3; Gracious and caring owners who helped us out with the inevitable glitches.
We all thank you Sandra and Marc for sharing your home with us this past Easter. Hoping to do it again.
Enjoyed our stay, perfect place for our annual girls weekend. The weather was great and we all attended the Ryder Lake Ramble. The house was clean and worked very well for our crowd. We plan on returning again next year which would be our 3rd time. Good location as our group comes from many different directions. Information and instructions provided were clear.
It would have been great if the outdoor fire pit was working and darned if we could find a bottle opener. Minor details, it was a very good weekend.
Thank you. Grad Class 1970
A group of friends and myself (14 in total) had an amazing time at this house. It is in a beautiful location with an absolutely stunning view! The house itself is gorgeous and met all of our needs easily.
Sitting in the hot tub or on the amazing deck looking into the valley you can just feel everything slipping away into relaxation.
I would definitely recommend this house for anyone looking to get away! The location, price and amenities are top notch!
We booked for a family reunion. We had 14 adults and 2 small children. The hot tub and pool were not open though had been advertised. It was a steaming hot weekend. The main shower had a hole in the ceiling where the fan should have been and the shower knob fell off. The garage was unavailable. We brought an RV, that nearly tipped over trying to come in the driveway. We needed the RV for the sleeping accommodation as there were not enough beds. The patio table with the propane fire did not have a hose from the tank to the fire. This property is serious need of upgrading. We had a wonderful time because our family was together in one place not because the place was amazing. It did not come anywhere close to expectations
One amazing perk to this mountaintop property is that it is about a 3 minute drive to the trailhead for Elk-Thurston Trail! This trail features panoramic views of the Fraser Valley and Chilliwack River Valley. It is very convenient to access this trail from the property.
A short drive (15-20 minutes) takes you to either the Chilliwack-Vedder River or the Fraser River. The Chilliwack River is known for its salmon and steelhead fishing as well as rafting & kayaking. The Chilliwack River Valley is a well-known hiking area, featuring numerous hiking trails. The Fraser River features amazing salmon and sturgeon fishing.
Circle-farm tours, corn maze, and a haunted house are other features of the Chilliwack area.
Cultus Lake is roughly a 20-25 minute drive from the property and is known for boating and as a family recreational area.
Chilliwack Lake and Foley Lake are also accessible although they are a further drive.
Harrison Hot Springs is roughly a 25-35 minute drive from the property.
Othello Tunnels, Hell's Gate, and Skagit Valley regional park are attractions that are a bit further.
Cultus Lake Waterslides and Bridal Falls waterslides are great for family fun in the summer.
Other activities/features include: archery, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing.
Prepare yourself for organic fruits and vegetables to be grown on the property in the spring.
