This newly renovated in-town cottage, offers families and friends the opportunity to enjoy the variety of comforts offered year-round in one of the most charming of all harbor towns in Northwest Lower Michigan. Embraced by East Grand Traverse Bay to the west, Elk Lake to the east and Bass Lake to the north, the village is comprised of one square mile, and everything is within walking distance: public beaches, unique dining, quaint shops and a modern marina for boaters navigating the waters of Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay.

The 900 square foot quaint cottage comes fully furnished with all the amenities and conveniences of a modern vacation rental, including all new kitchen appliances (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher), a brand new mud/laundry room with stackable washer and dryer, and a huge backyard and deck perfect for watching the daily sunset or the fireworks during the annual Harbor Days Festival.

The large master bedroom on the back of the house features plenty of storage, a closet, and a king-size bed that can be easily split into twin beds. The front bedroom has a fire-engine red, metal bunk bed that kids of all ages will love. Both of the rooms are located off of the main room (family and dining combined). Off of the kitchen in the rear of the house is the bathroom (with full shower and tub) and the laundry/mud room, which has a door opening onto the back deck and back yard.

Join the thousands of Midwest travelers every year who visit Elk Rapids and are thrilled with the just-minutes walk to the variety of activities in the quaint downtown, or hop in your car and take advantage of the close proximity of Elk Rapids to other Northern Michigan vacation destinations, including a 30-minute drive to Traverse City, 40 minutes to Charlevoix, 60 minutes to Petoskey and Sleeping Bear Dunes (recently voted the 'Most Beautiful Place in America' by the viewers of 'Good Morning America'), and only two hours from Mackinaw City.

About The Owner

We are an aunt and uncle and niece and nephew team. Kristi and Doug live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Doug teaches at the high school where he and Kristi met 27 years ago. Lynne is Kristi’s aunt and she and her husband Dan live in Traverse City. As “retirees” Lynne works at the area’s best running store and Dan works part time for the construction and building business he started 35 years ago. We are all avid dog lovers and long-distance runners. Every spring we vacation together in Siesta Key, Florida.

Why The Owner chose Elk Rapids

Kristi’s parents, sister, and niece recently moved to Elk Rapids. One weekend while visiting, Kristi and Doug were walking around the downtown neighborhood and came across this lovely gem for sale, which, at the time, was the last piece of property for sale in Elk Rapids. After a brief conversation with Lynne and Dan and additional investigation into the house and grounds, it was an easy decision to buy, renovate, and rent.

What makes this cottage unique

While the house is super conveniently located just blocks from downtown, it is also located on a quiet, tree-lined street in a residential neighborhood, which includes a view of a lovely wooded lot across the street. The location affords the best of both worlds-easy access to activity or nice, quiet, seclusion.

So perfect for relaxing vacation!

This little place in Elk Rapids is so perfect for our yearly family vacation to Northern MI! The owners have nailed each and every little detail when it comes to accomodating visitors. We will definitely pack less when we stay there this year because all amenities are covered. It's so close to the beach & downtown that you can walk everywhere from this location. The deck and backyard are so nice - big deck, nice patio furniture... all that you need to enjoy the outdoors from your own rental if you choose to stay in one spot. Very comfortable bed to sleep on at night. The home is very clean and they take very good care of the inside/outside. It's only 20 minutes from Traverse City. You must try Pearl's Restaurant in E.R. - the food and cocktails are so fantastic! Don't pass this one up - it's very affordable & worth the trip!

Great space! We loved our stay and will definitely be bringing the dog in the future. So close to town and beaches, with all the conveniences of home. Thanks for opening up your home to us! Future renters, bring your growlers or go get a new one and enjoy some great fresh beer from Shorts on the deck!!!
