FANTASTIC Couples Getaway

I cannot rave enough about our weekend at Whispering Pines! My boyfriend and I spent our first vacation together here for a long weekend and it was everything we had imagined. We both have a pretty bad habit of getting over-excited and setting expectations too high for upcoming experiences, which of course usually ends up leaving us disappointed. However with this getaway, we were only disappointed that we had to leave! When we arrived, the hot tub was fired up ready to go for us along with a bottle of local wine provided by Tom! The lofted bedroom was absolutely beautiful in the morning when we woke up to the sunrise, and 2 nights in a row we accidentally dozed off sitting in front of the cozy fireplace. It was THE most relaxing weekend we have ever had and I fully attribute that to where we were staying. The location was great- set back in the woods enough to feel secluded and private, but in a nice neighborhood that felt very safe and friendly. It is about a 10 minute drive south into downtown Northport, 25 minutes into Suttons Bay, and 45 minutes into Traverse City, where we did a wine tour one day that was fantastic. The coolest thing we did all weekend was visit the ice caves (or i guess walls, not quite caves?) at Leelanau State Park, which is less than 2 miles north of the house. Literally breathtaking! A must while you are visiting if they are still there!

Thank you so much, Tom, for giving us a wonderful, relaxing weekend that we both were in desperate need of with our hectic work schedules. We are very excited to return again in the summer, spring, or fall to experience a whole new vacation!

Owner's Response: Delighted to hear the Whispering Pines over delivered and exceeded expectations - certainly something I strive to accomplish with every guest. Glad to hear you took my suggestions to enjoy the area to it's fullest...Leelanau County is magical. Unfortunately the ice caves will not be around for the summer guests to enjoy, I hope! Looking for to your return when you can experience a familiar setting in a different season!

Secluded and quiet getaway

My wife and I were looking for a place to get away from town and enjoy some peace and quiet - this place delivered! Secluded at the very tip of the Leelanau peninsula, this cabin had everything we were looking for: XC skiing/hiking trails right out the back door and a state park just down the road, a wonderful hot tub to soak in after being in the cold all day and close to wine country! We also weren't far from the Sleeping Bear Dunes and were able to see the amazing ice caves from this winter. We decided to sleep in the loft bedroom because it was so unique, waking up to the views was incredible! While the cabin does have three bedrooms, I would't recommend more than four people come as the common space (living room) won't accommodate more than that. The kitchen is fully stocked, so breakfast and lunch were easy and we ate out for dinner each night. The Soggy Dollar is good in Northport and I would highly recommend the prime rib at North Country in Suttons Bay. All in all we had a great time and Tom was a pleasure to work with...we will definitely be back!

Perfect Honeymoon get-away

This place was perfect for my new bride and me to get away from everything. After two months of busy holiday season, combined with wedding planning we were ready to just get away from any and all stress. This place was perfect for that. We can't speak much for the surrounding area, since we did very little sight seeing, but what we did see was a gorgeous. We were there in the winter, and it was lovely, I imagine it would be equally as nice during the summer. I know when I was looking into this place the reviews I read were very helpful, so I will do my best to help any perspective visitors.

The cottage is quite gorgeous, and seems to be quite well maintained. The fireplace worked great, and the hot tub was incredible. If you have a chance though, check to make sure that the DVD player works if that is something you plan on using. It was rejecting disks for us, but we had our own so it did not matter.

I have no regrets about renting this place for a week for my winter honeymoon.

Whispering pines cottage was perfect. When we arrived on Dec. 29th the snow was freshly plowed and the jacuzzi was hot and ready to go. The cottage was clean and very welcoming. Whispering pines was a dream come true for me. Sitting in the hot jacuzzi with the snow coming down and the peacefulness of the outdoors. then coming inside to sit next to the fire. Sleeping in the loft was beautiful waking up every morning looking out the large window seeing the snow perfectly laying on the trees. It was truly an amazing experience for me. I love whispering pines!

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you enjoyed the solitude of the Whispering Pines and found the hot tub and wood burning fireplace great bonuses! The beautiful white snow, I know, also played into the beauty of the weekend. Please plan a return visit but don't wait until next new years!

Absolutely love our stay!

My husband and I spent a few nights in this adorable, cozy cottage for our two year anniversary. We loved every bit of it! The first think I noticed was how gorgeous the setting is. It was very cool that there is a beautiful walking path right behind the cottage, which I also enjoyed. Sitting in the hot tub was so beautiful and private, especially watching the deer just a few feet from us! We felt very comfortable. We noticed right away that all the comforts and conveniences are ready. A good supply of firewood for the fireplace and gas for the grill, both of which we used and enjoyed. Plus, all these litle towns through the area in the Leelanau Peninsula are so quaint and pretty, along with the natural beauty of the whole area. I'm hoping to come back, plus I'm going to suggest this place to friends and family. Thanks for making us feel so comfortable and for the great memories!
