We recently completed our 3-week vacation at the Candini residence at Mauna Lani. By we, I mean two families of three each. Two couples and two 15 year old boys.
The property was excellent on all counts. The six of us had an ideal amount of personal space along with our time together. The highlight is, of course, the fabulous open air lanai, which comprises a deep water pool, hot tub, waterfall, BBQ and poolside refrigeration. The view beyond is stunning, day and night. It comprises the 17th hole of Mauna Lani’s South Course and, beyond, the Pacific ocean.
There are four bedrooms, each with private bath, plus an office with a trundle bed, which we also used occasionally. The kitchen is well-equipped. Meals were, for the most part, enjoyed together at the dining table or around the kitchen island. There are multiple TVs, a great sound system and wireless internet plus zoned AC.
We partook of many activities within an hour’s drive or less. Snorkeling, nighttime manta ray dives, ATV tours, zip-lining, blue marlin fishing and lots of golf. We grilled at home; but, also managed our share of dining out and happy hours. Not sure, there is much else, we could have done. Having Milo Candini, the owner’s son, nearby proved a great resource.
We are regular VRBO users and this is one of the best properties we’ve found. Highly recommended.”
I would HIGHLY recommend this property to a number of people! This beautiful home is only for those that expect and demand the best things in life and want to spoil themselves and their family. As good as the listed photos are in the VRBO Listing, actually being there is much more inviting. The house exhibits the best design, taste and craftsmanship that cannot be matched. Being able to be in the open air and immersed in the beautiful golf course that the house sits along is stunning. Watching the sun sink over the Mauna Lani South Course is breathtaking. This home is truly one of a kind and one that you will not want to leave after your stay.
The benefit and luxury of each guest room having their own bathroom is priceless. The hard decision will be who gets the Master Bedroom that features a bed like no other, outdoor tub & shower (for fun), a spa like master bathroom and view that will keep you in bed reading your favorite book all day.
The hard part is trying to decide what our favorite thing in the house is; to help answer that, it might not be the actual 5000 SF in the home, but, the Lanai, or the two private pools/waterfalls, or the swim up bar or the custom BBQ area.
If you are thinking about staying in the Mauna Lani, Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii and have not inquired about this Beautiful Estate Home - you are missing out.
This was truly a magical experience that you will always treasure.
Perfect vacation for a our family! We had the time of our lives. The whole experience was outstanding. We have taken our family to a number of fine places and enjoyed each but this is the only one we all voted that we would return. The house, pool and outside amenities were very enjoyable for party or rest. You can't go wrong with this choice. The photos did not show the place as nice as it actually was.
Thank you so much to the owners! I had a ton of questions and they had been just an email away!!
Can't wait till next year!!! Don't tell the family...it's already booked! :-)
Unbelievable week in a fantastic home! Immaculate grounds/home and first class service. Would highly recommend this property.
Had a fantastic experience in one of the most beautiful vacation homes I have stayed in on the Big Island. Accommodations were first class in a setting of openness with discrete privacy. This is the second time we have stayed here and the home continues to draw us back with its elegance and beautiful design. We'll see you next year.
A once-in-a-lifetime family vacation for ten adults and an infant. Arrived at the house to find excrement in a toilet; odors iin two bathrooms; hair, dead flies and ants in sinks, bathtubs, and bathroom floors; rotten food on the floor near the refrigerator; dried food and dirty dishes in the dishwasher; dirty silverware in the silverware drawer; a thick coat of dirt, dust and hairballs all over the floors throughout the house. We took pictures!
Called the owner. She told me that this never happened before. Without hesitation, said that we would get a full refund. She also offered to send in a cleaning person. The property manager (owner’s adult son) then showed up. After inspection, he told us that the previous tenant was responsible for cleaning, but “obviously the cleaning never happened.” He wasn’t sure when the last time the house was cleaned. He had not inspected the house prior to our arrival. He advised us that the house was a “complete mess” and that “it would be in our best interests to find other accommodations.” All ten of us witnessed the conversation.
Relying on the owner’s word regarding the refund, as well as her son’s advice to vacate, we went into a panic to find other accommodations – not so easy for ten adults and an infant at the height of season on a Friday afternoon. Luckily we did find something – but very expensive – and I needed to pay up front for the week.
I later received an email from the owner stating that she had reneged on her promise, and decided that she would NOT GIVE ME A REFUND!! According to a cleaner she brought in, the house was inhabitable. UNBELIEVABLE!! I sent her an email, reviewing the facts, and imploring her to “do the right thing”. She never responded.
I incurred over $25,000 of additional expenses. I’ll let the lawyers deal with all of that, including damages from ruining our vacation. I’ve never sued anyone before. I guess there’s a first time for everything.
