This property is awesome! It is surpassed only by its owners!
My wife and I originally booked it when we thought we would be driving through the area. Plans changed and instead we drove 13 hours one way. It was well worth it and we are making plans to go back.
We were after luxurious seclusion and that is exactly what we received. The home and furnishings are wonderful. Brent B’s review is an accurate description of the property; if not understated. We loved the kitchen, the dining room, the master bedroom, the pool room, etc. etc… Plus, the owners were passively present. We never had contact with them except when we initiated it – a perfect mix of helpfulness and privacy.
We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings as we did some back country skiing. One day right down the road and other days a little further away. No matter what we wanted to do the property put us in a great position.
I have vacationed in many a five star resort from Monte Carlo to Telluride to Hawaii and this property is lacking nothing.
I also feel compelled to write on the owners. First, on the day we were leaving there was new snow. They were up early and had the drive plowed for us. It was very nice. Secondly, once we had left the property we experienced car trouble. Although we were miles from the property I didn’t know anyone and still felt comfortable contacting the owners for their advice. They were very helpful even when they had no economic reason to be so.
I would absolutely rent this property again. (and will)
First I would like to thank our hosts, the owners met us and drove us to the property and walked us through how everything worked which if you've done VRBO you understand how nice it is to know how to work everything. They were awesome.
We came out on motorcycles for the Sturgis rally and the beauty of Wyoming cannot be captured in pics. Each morning we awake to have breakfast with a perfect view of Devil's Tower and then a peaceful scenic drive on the 9 mile dirt road past open range cattle and hundreds of deer.
The home is great. Constructed of solid timbers, it's very updated on in the inside with beautiful reclaimed wood cabinets, rough granite counter-tops and lots of stone. The rooms are good size and the master suite was one of the best I've ever rented. Even had a steam shower!
The area of Devil's Tower, Hullet and Sundance are close by and have good food and bars.
If you're riding a cycle, I would strongly recommend taking the owners up on parking the bikes at a little restaurant close to the turn on the 9 mile dirt road and having them drive you to the cabin. The hill to get up to the house is steep and difficult on the bike. The owners picked us up two days and it was a lot better.
Overall I still rank our stay and rental experience a 5 star. Devil's tower made for a great base camp to visit all of the spots we wanted to see in the black hills area and I would absolutely rent this house again.
I would echo all of the other reviews. The cabin and views are amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. It is quiet and secluded with acres and acres to explore. Not only on site, but, the national forest that is all around the property. It is close to many sites. Which Cat and Neil have brochures and maps ready for you to check out.
They happily accommodated us at the last minute along with our two big dogs. We have two Newfoundlands who loved to hang out on the huge wrap around porch.
Cat and Neil wanted to make sure we had a relaxing vacation. We even ran into them while we were out exploring the Black Hills. They waved us over to ask if we were enjoying ourselves and offered us sandwiches and drinks.
We would definitely stay there again.
After 10+ years of using VRBO, this is the best place we've stayed at so far.
My wife and I, with our two German Shepherds, look to get away for an entire week once a year. It's hard enough trying to find upscale vacation rentals that allow pets, and even more difficult to find those that allow larger pets. Neil and Cat were more than accommodating. The dogs had a great time in the acres of land surrounding the house and were content to sleep once we brought them in the house.
The views! There is a 360 degree view from this house that is wonderful. Of couse, the view of Devil's Tower from atop their mountain is just about perfect(!), but what goes unsaid is that the view from all directions of this house are amazing.
CLEAN!!! One drawback we have found at some VRBO locations is that not every house is kept as clean as what we would prefer at home. This house was spotless when we arrived, which was another feather in its cap.
Quiet. The final thing we look for in a vacation place is peace and quiet. We want to spend a whole week away from the hustle and bustle, and just relax with the wind in the trees and a book in our hands. That is what we got at Neil and Cat's place. We spent most of the days sitting on the deck, looking over the valley (out at Devil's Tower), just reading. I think we only turned on the television for about 3 hours in 8 days.
Anyway, as a veteran VRBO user, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place in the NE Wyoming area. You won't be disappointed.
What a great place! The views are extraordinary and the sunsets amazing. The chalet is beautiful and became our home away of home in no time. It was very comfortable and I must say the beds were the best. We brought Teddy, our dog with us, and he also was very comfortable to the point when it was time to leave he didn't want too. We hiked areas that were very easy and some that were quite difficult, but no matter what we did the scenery was amazing. Neil and Kat were very helpful and made sure we know where to hike and what to check out in the area. We could tell they wanted us not only to enjoy the chalet but also wanted to make sure we got the most out of our vacation. This was defiantly one of the best vacation we have had.
