Overview

Joshua Tree Cabin Rental Photos and Description

A delightful gem with outdoor hot tub and spectacular views - 1 bedroom, 1 bath

WELCOME!

Spectacular views, privacy, and quality define Rock Haven Cabin, which sits on 5 acres adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. This eco friendly guest house has been newly renovated to create an atmosphere of exceptional comfort, beauty and serenity. In an effort to live more sustainably in the desert we have installed solar power, and a rain water catchment system for landscaping purposes.

This is a perfect place to unplug. You can soak in the private spa while stargazing, curl up with a good book on the patio with a sweeping view of the Park, or cook a gourmet meal in the fully equipped kitchen.

Rock Haven Cabin is small, but furnished with everything one would need. It is very comfortable, well appointed, and perfect for a romantic get away. In addition to the king bed in the bedroom, the sofa bed in the living room gives sleeping arrangements for a total of 4 guests, however the cabin is ideal for two people, or a couple with children.

The 2-person spa is next to the patio, sheltered by junipers and Joshua Tree’s unique boulder formations. We only use Dead Sea and Epsom Salts in the spa tub, cleaning and changing the water and filter after every set of guests.

For the adventuresome, you can hike into the park from the cabin, or if you want to explore it more fully, drive to the West Entrance, a half mile away. The park is renowned for its world class rock climbing. It also offers excellent hiking with hundreds of trails ranging from easy nature walks to strenuous mountain hikes. You can also expect to see local wildlife right from the front porch, and our Joshua Tree night skies are famous for their extraordinary star gazing.

The local area has plenty for you to discover in addition to the beauty of the national park. The village of Joshua Tree is a short drive from the cabin, where you can check out the Park Visitor Center, explore a variety of gift shops and art galleries or hunt for treasures at local thrift stores. There are several good restaurants, a gourmet food store, two health food stores, and a Saturday Farmers' Market. Joshua Tree also has an excellent yoga studio with a full schedule of classes.

The Joshua Tree art scene is vital and eclectic with regular gallery openings and nearly 200 artists living in the area. There is an Open Studio Tour each fall, and many artists welcome visitors at other times by appointment. Live music can be heard almost any day of the week at Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown, and Joshua Tree holds annual music festivals in the spring and fall. There are also three live theater venues with a variety of interesting offerings.

There is something very special about the peace and spaciousness of the desert, and regardless of the time of year, Rock Haven Cabin offers a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind in comfort.

Keywords: Luxurious desert cabin with spa hot tub. Eco friendly. Private peaceful setting in the rocks. Spectacular views.

About Eva Montville

We had been coming to Joshua Tree for years, with the thought of eventually moving to this part of the High Desert we had fallen in love with. We were most interested in living in a particular area adjacent to the National Park, however properties in this location hardly ever go on the market. It took some time, but we eventually found what we were dreaming of. We had only been here 4 years when our neighbors mentioned that they were thinking of selling their weekend cabin retreat. We jumped on it, thus reuniting the original 5 acre homestead parcel on which our house sits. Part of our enjoyment is in sharing our love of the desert with family and friends, and by turning Rock Haven Cabin into a vacation rental we are able to share with many others the beauty and serenity of this unique spot.

Loved Rock Haven Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I spent Easter weekend at Rock Haven Cabin. Great location just outside the west entrance to Joshua Tree park. Very private. Beautiful view from the cabin, patio and hot tub. Hiking trails right outside the front door. The cabin is so well thought out - from the indoor furnishings and amenities to the placement of outdoor seating - everything we needed, and more! I loved sitting outside watching the sunrise (and the moonrise). Another treat was observing the wildlife from the patio: quail, black throated sparrows, jackrabbits, cottontails and a desert tortoise. Eva and Kathy are wonderful hosts. I can't wait to visit again!

Best stay ever!!

  • 5 of 5

We travel a LOT and this is our absolute favorite place we have ever stayed. Cabin is cute, clean, and has everything you need. However, we were hardly ever inside because the property outside is so amazing! We started out every morning in the park, but were super excited to get back to the cabin every day because we saw much more there than in the park. (without any crowds or noise) While relaxing in the lounge chairs or hot tub, we watched quail, hummingbirds, cottontails, jackrabbits, coyotes, chuckwalla, little lizards, bats, ground squirrels, and tons of other birds. It was like our private, personal park. The place is super private, super quiet, and the sleeping is AWESOME. Sitting in the hot tub in the moonlight listening to the coyotes was the highlight of the trip for us. Kathy and Eva are gracious hosts who have thought of everything. They are there if you need something, but happily leave you to your own if that's what you prefer. (we especially appreciated all of the books and guides in the cabin -- we used them to identify all of our animal visitors!!)

We had several conversations about how amazing it would be to LIVE at Rock Haven Cabin...but will have to be content to plan a return visit in the future. Already dreaming of coming back! THANK YOU!!

We'll be back!

Rock Haven is an appropriate name. Private, peaceful, a scenic escape in the rocks and joshua trees. As a birder, naturalist, I cannot say enough about the joy we had watching and feeding the local birds and bunnies, and enjoying the resident chuckwalla. The wide open views and the hot tub are the perfect recipe for de-stressing. The trail into the park is a must, even as far as the fabulous rock outcropping that lights up at sunset. The only sounds at night are the occasional yips of coyotes. Birders will be delighted, especially in March when resident birds are breeding and early migrants are coming through. Eva and Kathy "rock" also. Their passion for where they live and willingness to share their knowledge was wonderful. The cabin is clean and well equipped. We had all of our meals right there, and watched sunrises and sunsets daily just by walking out the door. It is a gem!

Private and Peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Rock Haven Cabin exceeded all of our expectations and more! We've been on a search for the perfect desert retreat and finally found it here. Eva and Kathy are truly amazing women too! Thoughtful, kind and highly accommodating. We like to do a lot of cooking and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Most importantly we found the cabin to be extremely clean. At most rental properties we've experienced, we could smell the synthetic fabric softeners in the linens and towels or the smell of synthetic mens cologne or women's perfume on bedding. All bedding and towels were Four Seasons Hotel quality here!! "I'm a former Four Seasons Hotel employee."

Gazing out at the vast beauty of the desert and wildlife can never be tiresome. We absolutely loved the frequent daily visits from the quail, bunnies and coyote sightings. Rock Haven Cabin is a rare gem. We could and would love to live right here for the rest of our lives! Beautiful hiking right from the property, away from the park crowds. Eco friendly cabin run off of solar power. Fantastic hot tub with no chlorine or chemicals added. Only epson and dead sea mineral salts added that make for a great muscle soak after a hike. We LOVE you both Eva and Kathy!!! Thanks again for creating a beautiful, peaceful, and healing retreat to share with others.

Just wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

To our regret we had only two nights at this absolutely lovely and special place. Its not only, that the cabin and its landscape are very beautiful designed, its espacially the feeling, that you are in complete harmony with the surrounding nature. During our stay, it was still very hot and we spend the evenings watching the stars and saw some shooting stars. Its a meditativ place. We would have liked to find more of these places during our trip.

Warning: you should not arrive at rock haven cabin at dark, because its a hidden place also. And you should stay longer than we did!

Perfect Desert Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Rock Haven Cabin is perfect. All we wanted was a weekend getaway where we could be still and present. We spent a majority of our time sitting atop the boulder out by the observatory. We watched the sunrise one morning and two sunsets and we saw a pack of coyotes in the distance walking through the desert at sunset. It was beyond memorable. We also saw jack rabbits, bunnies and quails while sitting outside having breakfast and dinner. It was our own personal desert wild animal park. The hot tub is a wonderful touch and great place to view the stars at night.

Overall we could not have asked for a better experience. Eva and Kathy provided incredible hospitality and we will definitely be returning!
