The dream of finding that private spot, nestled in the jungle among nature and wildlife, is fulfilled by a stay in Casa Selva. Sit on the porch overlooking the Pacific shoreline, whitewater playing on the rocks below. Watch the toucans and a myriad of bird life pass right by. White face and Howler monkey's, sloths and pizotes are frequently seen passing through the canopy overhead.

The villa is removed from the hustle and bustle, not only of 'back home', but the feeling of being removed from the world is palpable. Numerous guests have commented on the 'therapeutic affect' of Casa Selva. You truly unwind here. When we are not available, and the guests ask for a referral to something similar, we are hard-pressed to come up with the answer. There simply isn't one.

From Casa Selva you can drive 15 minutes to either the world famous surf town of Dominical, or the thriving community of Uvita, complete with grocery stores, banks, ATMs, pharmacies, etc. Numerous sites and activities are all around: horseback waterfall tours, whale and dolphin tours, sport fishing, turtle vigilance, diving, surfing, ATV tours, the list goes on. Or, how about some quiet time in a hammock with a good book? A stay at Casa Selva includes access to the pool, which overlooks the entire southern coastline.

About The Owner

Natalie was in Real Estate in Cambridge Mass. before moving to Costa Rica in 2004. She was single and in the position to make some big changes. She explored different areas of Costa Rica before making the fit in this area. Having had a RE background, she was tenacious in finding the perfect property. The problem down here though is that it's all beautiful. She wanted enough acreage for horses and dogs. She wanted the more dramatic southern coastline view. She wanted to be close to the mountains and the sea, for just the right climate. She wanted privacy without isolation from community. With Finca Solla Sollew, she got it all!

Natalie has co-founded the Tripod Foundation, a non-profit organization which raises money and sponsors spay & neuter clinics for street dogs and for those that don't have the resources necessary to spay or neuter their animals.

Ben Vaughn was born and raised in Davis California, then spent 20 years in the Aspen Valley in Colorado before coming to Costa Rica with his family in 1999. He wanted to expose his children to another culture and language. Costa Rica is still their home base, and he is now Grampa to two 7 year old's. Years ago he started the popular Dominical.biz web site that serves as an online visitor's guide for this area. His Real Estate company Guys In The Zone, is focused on land and relocation services in the southern pacific zone. Ben also writes one of the oldest Costa Rica real estate blogs in Costa Rica.

Ben and Natalie met here in the jungle and lived happily ever after.

Why The Owner chose Dominical

I didn't 'buy a vacation rental', I bought my dream property, and then built my dream home on it. I got into the creative aspect of the project and by the time I was done, I had the main 2 bedroom house, the studio villa Casa Vista, and the villa nestled in the jungle called Casa Selva. I also had a four horse stable and covered riding area, which has since been turned into our living space. I really love and enjoy, the hospitality biz so now I live and work at what I love to do. I spend hours in the gardens, I love to putz. I always have animals that need some extra lovin' care, and I'm here to help with what ever the guests may need.

What makes this cottage unique

This is a place to let your hair down, relax and enjoy nature. Because we are so close to the jungle, you will see more wildlife here than in other rentals. You can conveniently do as much or as little as you like while you're here. It's a very central location for the area. Ben and I are both very active in the community and are happy to involve and help our guests if they are interested. Ben's knowledge of the area and all it has to offer is often tapped into and appreciated. With my animal welfare group, The Tripod Foundation, we are usually rescuing dogs with puppies from the beach, saving monkeys that have been injured by electrical wires, or sloths that have fallen from trees. We run spay and neuter clinics and always need volunteers. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we can make you feel like part of our wonderful community down here, so when you leave you will feel as if you have truly LIVED in Costa Rica.

We have is a covered, open air kick-boxing gym. There is one tall, kicking/punching bag as well as a water filled punching bag. Also a dip station, chin-up bar and slant board for sit ups and leg-lift slings for abdominal work. When we are feeling vigorous, there is an amazing ocean view hill climb that can be walked, guaranteed to burn off a few pounds during your stay. There is also a Gym in Uvita and lots of Yoga and Pilates studios to choose from. There is a health and beauty spa where you turn off of the highway to come up to the house. The spa features some of the latest health treatments: mud packs, heated stones, massage and so on. There is also a rather unique Friday night Movies In The Jungle that is put on by one of the local expat couples that are serious video-philes. They have put together a gorgeous, open air, ocean view jungle theater that the community is invited to during each season.

Finca Solla Sollew... where you never have troubles, at least very few!

My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to celebrate 5 nights of our honeymoon at Finca Solla Sollew! We could not have had a better experience. Natalie was incredibly sweet and helpful and we very much enjoyed our time with her and Ben. We cannot recommend this magical place enough... it is definitely a slice of heaven. The dogs and Natalie became our family while we were there and it was sad to say good bye for now, but we know we will be back. The price is extremely fair so next time we will bring family and friends and rent out the whole place!

We slept great every night and enjoyed waking up to the sounds of birds and monkeys each morning at exactly the right time. Casa Selva had all the amenities we needed and the pool was a huge bonus to our stay. We loved going to the local beaches during the day and exploring the cute town of Dominical and Uvita. Access was super easy and the road was the best 4x4 road we experienced in Costa Rica. We loved all of the food recommendations that Natalie gave us and enjoyed coming back to our beautiful cabin each day. It is truly paradise and it was hard to leave. We will definitely be back with our family one day ;-) and in the mean time will recommend Finca Solla Sollew to everyone we know!

Tranquility in the jungle with the most amazing view!

We headed to Monteverde first and then were looking forward to some R&R and that is exactly what we found! The pictures of the property do not even do it justice. It is a perfect little tree house tucked in the jungle with access to a pool, full kitchen and the most amazing ocean views. The main house on the property would be perfect for a family or the whole compound would be great for multiple families traveling together. Our little cottage was perfect for 2 with the openness and sounds of the jungle right there...we saw toucans, sloths and monkeys without even leaving our cottage! Natalie (the owner) was fabulous in every way, we can't thank her enough for her wonderful hospitality and great recommendations of things to do, places to see and where to eat while we were there. She made us feel at home and she has created such a beautiful 'homey' place for people to stay. We would highly recommend this to others traveling in the area...couples, families or groups she has accommodations for all!

Wife and I stayed in Casa Selva for five nights in the middle of April. We could not have been happier with this place! Natalie (the owner) has done an awesome job carving out a piece of paradise in the jungle where you can't see or hear neighbors but can see and hear the ocean and wildlife. The place itself is cozy and has all the modern conveniences you'd need. It's screened in so you always feel you're outdoors enjoying nature. Plenty of great quiet beach options nearby. Natalie is an ideal landlord and always had great recommendations for food and sightseeing. We highly recommend this spot for singles or couples. Her larger cottage would be great for families.

Natalie's cabinas and house provide perfect lodging for a couple or a family. Located about 20 minutes up from the coast highway in second growth forest, the site is so lush, private, quiet and generally pleasant that we used it as a base for exploring the coast, and as wonderful retreat. We stayed in Casa La Selva, and had great views of toucans, hummingbirds and every bird in between with our morning coffee on our private veranda. Natalie is a perfect hostess, unintrusive, but ready to provide help and local knowledge. We liked her place so much we are currently planning a return trip with our family!
