Hancock Cottage Rental Photos and Description
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 5 Sleeps
This is a charming rustic cottage with a beautiful beach and a magnificent view of the mountains of Acadia National Park. A spacious living space, a wonderful loft with two double beds, two downstairs bedrooms, an updated bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen, and a sunny porch overlooking the bay, the cottage is warm and inviting with a lovely lived-in feeling. It is located at the tip of beautiful Hancock Point, very near the tennis courts. The walk to the dock offers great views of the nearby islands.
The beach, on of the best on the Point, offers both beautiful large rocks for sitting and climbing, and a large beach. A great delight of the beach is the 'bathtub', a little tub worn in the rock where one can dip one's feet.
The main floor of the cottage includes a kitchen well-stocked with cookware and utensils, a large living room plus dining space with a cathedral ceiling, a sun porch on the south facing the water, two bedrooms each with a double bed, as well as a renovated bathroom that has its original claw-foot tub with the addition of a new shower. Above the main floor is a loft with two double beds that is a favorite sleeping and get-away spot for kids. A furnace in the kitchen provides heat for the kitchen, living room and the smaller bedroom areas. In the living room is a fireplace with Franklin stove. The clothes washer and dryer are in the dug-out basement.
Some highlights of the Point besides its beauty, the tennis courts and the dock are the beautiful library, the non-denominational chapel which draws eminent speakers, and a wonderful inn that serves delicious meals and is a gathering place for friends. Just up the road, the Pierre Monteux School of Music offers exceptional concerts from the middle of June till the end of July every summer.
There are many interesting towns and coves to visit in the areaas well as Acadia National Park, about 45 minutes away. There one can spend a day at Bar Harbor, visit a sandy beach, climb one of the many mountains, or spend a day at the Jordan Pond House, enjoying one of their famous popovers after an invigorating walk around beautiful Jordan Pond.
The nearest shopping center is located in Ellsworth, SW on Route 1, but there are also great little general stores within 5 or 10 miles of the Point as well as gas stations.
All in all, the beautiful location, the cozy cottage and the wonderful beach with its gorgeous views offer all one needs for an unforgettable vacation.
