About Donna Meeks

We are Donna & Joe Meeks of Pensacola, FL, owners of The French Townhouse, a boutique-style property. We enjoy traveling & seeking out unique vacation accommodations like the French Townhouse to enhance vacation experiences & transform them into treasured memories. This spurred us to create the French Townhouse as a destination for other travelers looking for a unique & fulfilling vacation experience.

Joe & I attended The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. After earning a B.S. degree in 1981 & a Master’s Degree & National Board Certification in Elementary Education, I taught 1st & 2nd grade for 29.5 years before retiring from Biloxi Public Schools in 2010. Joe graduated in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate & opened Kubota tractor/machinery dealerships in Mississippi & Florida. The French Townhouse serves as a fun escape for family, friends, and customers.

Having done freelance work in interior design the past 30 years, with Joe's input we transformed The French Townhouse into 3,000 sq. ft. of complete, sophisticated indulgence for the discerning traveler.

Wonderful!

We arrived for a week with a group of 5 adults. We rented all 3 floors and had lots of room. Having never been to Biloxi, it was an ideal location. Close to local attractions and right near Hwy 90, so easy to get to everything, including New Orleans. The house was great with plenty of space and nice beds and lots of amenities. We had everything we needed and more! The one disappointment was the gas grill which we could not get to heat above 300 degrees, so we only used it one night. Highly recommended.

This was our third stay at the French Townhouse and as always everything was perfect. Joe and Donna are great, the house is perfect, and it is wonderful to be able to walk to such top notch restaurants and casinos. The beach is so close and we always love our time at the Townhouse. (Even the hospital is only a few steps away, should you need it.) I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. The Townhouse is a great place to stay.

Great location

We had a great time. The house is centrally located. It is walking distance to the Beau Rivage and the Hard Rock casinos. 5 other casinos are a short drive. There is also an outlet mall in Gulfport, which is not too far away. We used all 4 bedrooms of the home which are all located upstairs. Our group never felt crowded. Two members of our group are very fond of cooking and made use of the kitchen and grill. Only thing we lacked was storage containers for our leftovers which was easily fixed by a trip to the dollar store. The kitchen has a separate ice maker which was very much appreciated. We had plenty of towels and we did not have any issues with having enough hot water for showers. It did take a minute to get hot but I think that is normal for 2nd and 3rd story bathrooms. The 3rd floor also has a separate heating/cooling temperature control which was a bonus. Occasionally you could hear people walking by and talking at night so if you are a light sleeper, you may want ear plugs or a sound soother. However, the walls inside seemed pretty sound resistant. We also brought a dog and the house was very dog friendly. I spoke to Donna several times before arriving and once or twice during the rental. She was always very helpful and a joy to work with. My only suggestions for the home would be 4 folding chairs since we had more than 6 people eating dinner on a few occasions (there are only 6 chairs) and some more hooks in the second floor bathroom to avoid having towels hanging over doors. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come again!!!

Home Away From Home

Since my daughter and new son-in-law live in Houston and my husband and I live in Atlanta, we wanted to spend Christmas at the beach. Biloxi seemed to be the perfect distance for us both. Originally I made arrangements with another VRBO home, however, a month after I had made my selection I was notified that the house was no longer for rent and they would be refunding my deposit. I had used VRBO for years and had never had this happen but did not know about the Conditional Use Permit for Short Term Rentals in Biloxi area. After researching further, I found The French Townhouse. I contacted the owner, Donna, and she assured me this would not be a problem with her townhouse as she is 1 of ONLY 2 legally licensed VRBO properties in Biloxi. I could just tell in talking with her that I had no worries, and as it turned out, it was the best thing that could have happened. As soon as we walked in the front door, I felt like I was at home. The furnishings are beautiful and the home is exceptionally clean. We made the decision to rent the entire house so our newly wed daughter and son-in-law could have the entire third floor to themselves. The location was so convenient to the lovely historic district with speciality shops, the Beau Rivage hotel and casino, the beach and the weather was so perfect we never had to use our car. And, as wonderful as the home, location and weather was, I will add the owner, Donna, could not have been nicer if she were a family member. She is ALWAYS available should you have any questions or concerns and since we have always spent Christmas at the beach, I can only say NEVER have we enjoyed our Christmas vacation as much as we did this year. Thank you Donna so much for sharing your beautiful home with so many.
