Shops, cafes, restaurants - Ten minutes

Barwon River - Fifteen minutes

Main Beach - Twenty minutes

The playground has equipment for small children and plenty of space for older children to kick a ball.

Blue Waters Lake is a hidden gem and the entrance is only a short walk from Bellarine House. The lake has a lot of birdlife all throughout the year and there are beautiful old trees to shade your walk on a hot day. It's a beautiful stroll at any time of year. If you want to walk a full lap around the lake it will take you about twenty minutes.

The Terrace is our main street and it has many restaurants; Italian, Chinese, Thai, Modern Australian. There are also lots of cafes, specialty shops, banks and a supermarket. Behind the main street is Park Lane. Park Lane has a large carpark, bakeries, health food, fruit and vegie shops and more specialty shops.

If you like a good walk you can go through the playground, half way around the lake, across to the river and walk all the way to Barwon Heads (4kms). If that's too far you can cut from the river across to the main beach and back up Field St (2kms). Anywhere in between is possible! Attractions you must see!

All of the above walks are accessible by car and then there are many places as close as ten minutes away and up to two hours if you'd like to explore further. We suggest you begin with the Bellarine Peninsula then, if you have the time, the Surfcoast and the Great Ocean Road.

Ocean Grove Nature Reserve - Ocean Grove Nature Reserve protects the last remaining stand of original woodland on the Bellarine Peninsula, making it a haven for native plants and animals. Wildflowers including lilies and orchids can be found throughout the reserve and are best seen in spring.

Choose from short strolls to longer walks. Meandering trails and management tracks allow walkers to explore the plants and animals of the reserve and the wetland area.

Clifton Springs Dell - Under the Clifton Springs Country Club and Golf Course is one of the Geelong region?s hidden treasures- the Clifton Springs Dell or Fairy Dell as it was also known. This natural amphitheatre has a beautiful setting and offers spectacular views across Port Phillip Bay with the You Yangs and Melbourne?s high-rise skyline in the distance.

Wineries -

For the Love of Grape Bellarine Wine Tours offers a relaxing and memorable experience to the variety of wineries on offer in the Bellarine, Geelong (Surf Coast), Moorabool areas. Their tours offer the convenience of collection and drop off to Bellarine House. Ask us for more information or to book a tour.

Oakdene Vineyards is a 6 minute drive from Bellarine House and has a cellar door and restaurant. Oakdene won two awards at the 2012 Victorian Awards for Excellence.

Jack Rabbit Winery has unnrivalled views across the bay to Geelong, the You Yangs and Melbourne. A rich, diverse stable of sophisticated cool climate wines along with contemporary a la carte dining make this a great location for many an occasion.

Other wineries include Kilgour Estate which was only established in 1989 but has fast become renowned as one of our best, producing very nice chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir. The winery is a 20 minute drive towards Portarlington and offers wine tasting and cellar door sales on weekends and some other times throughout the year. Scottsman?s Hill Winery is also another award winning wine producer with absolutely delightful chardonnay, cabernet merlot, sauvignon blanc and Riesling.

Barwon Bluff Marine Sanctuary: Located near the mouth of Barwon River, Barwon Bluff Marine Sanctuary protects 17ha predominately composed of reef. The eastern half of the reef is basalt, formed from lava flow, and is exposed to the flow of the river. The western side is old sandstone and influenced by ocean swell. On the outer edges of the reef are the wrecks of two ships.

The Blues Train: Starts and finishes in Queenscliff. You'll go on an incredible blues journey down the tracks, and at the end you'll be safely deposited back on the historic Queenscliff railway platform.

The journey includes four musical performances of 30 minutes each, with an interval and rest stop between each. You change carriages at each interval so that everyone gets to see all four acts.

In carriage A there's a solo musician playing in the centre of the carriage. In carriage B it's usually a duo in the same spot. In carriage C you'll usually find a trio playing up one end. Carriage D has seating along the sides and a dance floor in the middle with a small stage up one end for a full band. This is the one that tests your 'sea legs' and many think is the most fun.

And there's so much more...............................just let us know your interests and we'll let you know what's on offer on the Bellarine and surrounds.
