PERFECT COTTAGE IN SAN DIEGO

My partner and I had a nine day stay in San Diego and this cottage in Hillcrest couldn't have been more perfect for us. The location was phenomenal...close to University Ave with all of the restaurants and shops and just a short distance from the zoo and Balboa Park. The cottage itself was cute and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised it was actually very quiet at night despite being tucked behind a condo complex with two other small cottages right beside it as well. The only complaint we can come up is that there were some tiny ants in the bedroom and bath despite being little ant traps around. It was overall very clean and well-maintained. The owner, Max, was very easy to work with. We just loved this cottage and will definitely stay here again when we return to wonderful San Diego!

My husband and I stayed in this cottage for over three weeks this summer. Let me say that we have used VRBO many times in the past, but this was not the typical stay we have had with them before. We never saw or talked to the owner, the key was on the dining table inside and the door open when we got there. No one ever called, they would have never known if we were there or when we left. The time i emailed him to ask about the WiFi, he told me to please pay the remaining balance, for which I answered how? They said to leave the check on the back patio and it was picked up by someone. Convertible sofa was indicated, but there was none and the sofa that was there was very old and not usable as a bed. We did not see the DVD player and later found one in a closet. We emailed about a mail key and then one appeared laying on the back patio the next day. This was not our first trip to SD, but I wouldnt recommend it for any first timers, there were no guide books or area materials to see. I will say that the cottage was very clean when we got there, but there was a very strong chemical smell that we had to buy room deodorizers and leave the windows open for several days. I would recommend that the cleaning people use a more friendly cleaning products, as it was horrible to anyone who is sensitive. We did have a few problems with ants as well. The area was great, Hillcrest offers many restaurants and shops. It was quiet and the neighbors were great.

Property was well maintained and provided a perfect location for my trip to San Diego. It was only a short drive to the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and lots of restaurants in both the Hillcrest and Little Italy neighborhoods. Max, the owner, was excellent to deal with and responded to all my questions and concerns in a timely manner.
