This simple and rustic beach bungalow set upon one acre of lush, tropical beachfront property in rural Costa Rica. Wake up to the sound of howler monkeys, go for a walk on the beach outside your door and end the day with a cold beverage as you watch the dramatic sunset. Our bungalow is perfect for those who wish to escape TV, traffic and polluted air.
This bungalow is octagon shaped with a tropical hardwood deck that overlooks a grassy, coconut tree lined yard and the beautiful Playa Tambor. Tie a hammock between two trees and spend the afternoon reading a book in the shade. Let the sound of waves lullaby you to sleep each night in this truly one of a kind paradise!
NOTE: Our neighbor is a dog lover and has rescue dogs from the area.

Linda, Michelle, and Josh This was the last vacation I was able to take with my daughter Michelle for she passed away shortly after. I will always hold fond memories of this trip in my memory.
I rented this house at the end of November with 5 other of my college girlfriends. We were looking for an exotic get-a-way with lots of adventure, a relaxing and secluded beach, and an opportunity to get to know the culture of this country.
On our way to Pachote, we quickly realized from the reactions of locals that we were headed somewhere most tourist don't go, so we knew we were in for a treat. When we arrived we realized that the village of Pachote is a small, very nestled community, away from most tourism, filled with friendly locals. We really got to experience the "Pura Vida" while at this village.
The house was perfect for us with just the bare minimums. We bought fresh mahi mahi and shrimp from men who just rode by the house. Incredible! The only 2 negatives about the house itself, which aren't really negatives, just something to be aware of, is that the neighbor has about 8-10 dogs that feel right at home in the yard and on the porch of the rental. They are very friendly, and gave a sense of security (they barked when people walked by at night), but I don't think they are treated for fleas, and we were all bitten up! The other let down was the beach itself. The views and surrounding were wonderful, but there was trash ALL OVER the beach, even broken bottles and such. Kinda made us nervous about going barefoot, and swimming.
Other than that, not a single complaint!!! I highly recommend Zuma tours for your excursions. Incredible customer service, very friendly, and gave us genuine care. In fact, if you care to do the sail to Tortuga Island, they can pick you up at the end of the beach that the house is on!!!
We went end of October and into November. All our research told us this is the "tail-end" of the rainy season, but we had plenty of sun!! Also, we went to visit Playa Hermosa and Quepos the last two days of our trip, with are much more touristic destinations, and we didn't have to deal with all the crowds and traffic like you might in the high season. It was a good time to go.
Finally, I have to tell you about the bioluminescence! Because of the "red tide" as the locals call it, the ocean was filled with plankton that glows with movement in the water. While it made visibility for snorkeling almost impossible, it was an incredible experience to swim in at night!!!
Absolutely amazing! Wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else! This place had everything we wanted and much, much more! Loved laying in the hammock and watching the waves crash the shore. Had an amazing experience of see the plankton light up the waves at night! Plenty of privacy to enjoy the good company I was with. The house itself was perfect and had all the cookware needed. I could go on and on about this wonderful place! Will come back again and again!! Pura vida!
WOW! Quel bel endroit !
Bon voyage !
Stayed here on my last days after spending 3 weeks touring Costa Rica. The deck and beach located close by was very relaxing. The house itself with full kitchen and wonderful loft was very spacious and provided all I needed. The volcanic sand beach was absolutely HUGE and the water was nice and warm at all times. Spent a day at the nearby Curu Wildlife Refuge and I must say that this is a must if you are in the area - monkeys everywhere!! And the boat and snorkle trip was super cheap and well worth it.
Would definitely return one day.
