Cristina purchased this apartment in 1960
It is a neighborhood with a lot of character and history.
Very colorful and lively area, that you can see it all happening right from the balcony.
The inside is simple and well kept, so it makes it very easy when we go or take friends. The location is great, the most important things to see in old Madrid are all walking distance. The area is full of nice restaurants. Just going to the market and bakery and buying fresh ingredients for breakfast is a treat by itself.
The views are spectacular, you get almost 360 degree views of Madrid from all the windows the apartment has. Very bright and airy. Very centrally located, but not noisy at all.
Easy access to public transportation. You can go everywhere walking or in subway which is just steps away. It is the ideal place to stay to visit Madrid and also to make day trips outside of the city.
Sunset views of the Madrid skyline from the apartment are not to be missed.
- Very spacious for European standards and with just about everything you need to feel like you are at your own house.
- 360 degree views of the entire city. Large airy windows throughout the entire apartment (I have never seen this in the center of any old city I have ever stayed before); It really makes a huge difference to stay in a bright apartment full of natural light…
- Immaculate, clean, spotless! You could eat off the floor!
- Unusually quiet for being in the middle of it all. Step out of the building and you are in the city’s “hustle & bustle” but once inside, you don’t hear a thing!
- Fully remodeled with top-notch appliances and furniture.
- Top notch brand new beds to American standards
- Fabulous kitchen with all cooking utensils (I loved the high end ceramic knives)
- Easy to get anywhere with two of the main metro lines in front of the building
- Fast internet, flat-screen TV, free local calls
- High quality bed and bath linens that you would only find on a 5-Star hotel
The owner: Cristina is very knowledgeable and helped us very much, providing fantastic recommendations to restaurants and many hidden gems in the city that we wouldn’t have found on our own from searching the web and looking at travel books. Furthermore, she had a keen eye and was able to tailor suggestions to our taste. Thanks!
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week on our first visit to Spain. I want to agree with all the good things others have written about this apartment. I would start by mentioning the helpfulness of the host and the local property manager. Both completely fluent in English and very eager to assist with apartment issues and general questions about Madrid.
We found the apartment to be very spacious and comfortable. Good chairs/sofa for evenings of reading in living room. Beds comfortable. We got good sleep here. And we had cozy breakfasts and dinners in the bright kitchen. Also, I want to agree that we found this apt to be very clean. Newly renovated bathroom and kitchen were sparkling clean.
Good grocery shopping nearby. And this location is so central to Madrid sights that we did not completely use up the multi-pass we bought for the subway!
If we return to Madrid, we would certainly consider another stay in this apartment.
My wife, two daughters, and I just recently returned from staying in Cristina's lovely apartment in Madrid for 4 nights in June. The benefits from renting this apartment began even before we arrived. Cristina, the woman with whom we communicated, was very thorough and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. In addition to the pertinent documents and contract, she sent detailed information about how to reach the apartment by subway from the airport complete with maps, local maps with highlighted sites, and a comprehensive map and details about El Rastro, the popular Sunday flea market just a few blocks from the apartment. She also has comprehensive Google documents and information which she sent electronically with tips about shopping and local dining. We followed many of her recommendations and they were spot on.
The apartment is conveniently located in the La Latina district and is safe, clean, well-equipped, and very comfortable. It overlooks a lively block but the apartment is remarkable quiet even with the hustle and bustle. Two metro stations are located minutes away by foot, but you can also walk to most sites without too much difficulty.
Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better place and we would happily return in the future.
I am not the type of person that usually takes the time to write reviews- good or bad, but after staying here and having such a great experience, I felt compelled to do so. I have nothing but praise for this listing and host. The apartment did not fall short of how it is described. It was spacious, adequately furnished, and above all-CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! Also, we arrived to find a welcome basket of wine and assorted local fruits which was not only unexpected but a nice personal touch which made us feel as if we were staying with friends. As for the neighborhood, I couldn't have picked a better location. A short walk to everything: the Metro, Plaza Mayor, Caba Baja, and my personal favorite- El Mercado de San Miguel just to name a few. Definitely located in a hip and happening area, but quiet at night too!
The host was not only quick to respond to my inquiry, but very helpful in answering all my questions. She not only has a great apartment, but is so knowledgeable about the area and Madrid in general. My stay was a short one so I asked her for recommendations on what I should do, and boy did she deliver. I did as she recommended and had a great time- ate well, saw some great sights and felt like a local. It was like having a virtual tour guide/travel agent. I wish I could only have her help me plan all my vacations.
In short, I would highly recommend this listing. It truly is a hidden gem in La Latina, Madrid.
We are used to booking apartments, villas and the like for our stays abroad and this one did not disappoint. Cristina was very helpful before we left and Lola was lovely when we arrived. The apartment is very well situated, only a short stroll from the Plaza Mayor in the bustling old part of the city. It was very clean and well equipped, with everything you would need including thoughtful touches such as washing up liquid, mini toiletries, condiments (and a complimentary bottle of wine), which meant we did not have to go out and get the basics. Not that shopping was a problem as all you need is only a few steps away from the building.
La Latina metro station is very close, although we did follow Cristina's suggestion of walking a little further to Tirso de Molina, which often avoided a change of line.
Altogether a super stay. We would recommend a visit by train to Toledo (be sure to book your tickets there and back in advance as trains do get full); wandering around the city, the Royal Palace, Retiro Park and the fabulous Easter Processions from the Churches around the city. Definitely something not to miss.
1/2 block away from metro station. Short walk to 2 different Metro lines.
Bakeries and food stores a few steps away.
Very well located next to all the restaurants, tapas and Madrid 'movida' BUT very quiet apartment, where you can rest well.
Gorgeous views and sunsets.
Walking distance to Mercado de San Miguel, Cava Baja, Casa Lucio, Plaza de La Paja, Plaza Mayor.
