CREEKSIDE COTTAGE IN CHIMNEY ROCK

Chimney Rock Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

This charming 1000 square foot cottage is private, quaint, welcoming and exceptionally clean. Come sit on the back decks and enjoy over 200’ of private creek frontage, cook hot dogs and marshmallow at the campfire, or sit on the double swing overlooking our two small waterfalls and relax on a half acre of frontage on Hickory Creek. We like to boast that we have one of the best view of the Creek and Hickory Nut Gorge and surrounding mountains. Discover the magic of Hickory Nut Gorge and Chimney Rock!

Chimney Rock Cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or small gatherings of up to 6 people. The Cottage has one king-size bed, a double bed in the second bedroom, a queen-size sofa bed in living room, a Franklin stove with gas logs, three AC window units, Washer and Dryer, fully equipped kitchen (except no dishwasher), televisions, DVD players and outdoor grill.

Guests love to share breakfast on the deck at the intimate Creekside table for 2 and watch the sun dance over the small double waterfalls below. There's also a larger outdoor picnic table for additional seating. Beyond the deck, an inviting boardwalk beckons you to enjoy nature's playground of over half an acre of shady woods and creek frontage in a park-like setting. The crystal clear waters of Hickory Nut Creek are perfect for wading, fishing or just splashing around to cool off after a hot day. The less adventuresome can laze away the day in the hammock, lulled to sleep by the rushing water sounds of the creek, just a stone's throw away. In the evenings, it's a cottage tradition to gather around the fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and sharing a picnic supper down by the creek.

We would also highly recommend that you visit Chimney Rock State Park for hiking and the town of Chimney Rock for gem mining, shopping, eating, especially ice cream, which are only a 3 minute drive from the cottage; Asheville, only 20 miles from the cottage is fantastic for shopping, dining and entertainment. Charming Hendersonville also has a quaint f=downtown and variety of shopping, dining and entertainment and is a quick 15 minute drive. Explore too while you are here the beautiful Lake Lure a 7 minute drive with 360 degree panorama views, fine dining, a manmade beach and water slide, rent a boat or bring your own and of course fishing.

Finally, after a full day exploring this beautiful area, fall asleep at the end of the day to the sounds of rushing Hickory Nut Creek which can be heard from every room in the cottage. As our guests often note at the end of their stay, 'Chimney Rock Cottage was all you said it would be . . . and more.'

BreathTaking

This was our first family vacation. Me my wife and 4 kids. On the day we were scheduled to arrive my wife got news her mother passed away. My wife decided to press forward as her mom would want her to try to enjoy her vacation. When we got to the cottage it was raining. We opened up the back door and the sound and sight was just so breathtaking that for a few minutes we were able to forget about everything. We could never have imagined how magnificent the cottage was. It was clean and surprisingly very roomy for the 6 of us. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek, cooking their own hotdogs over the firepit and of course making smores over the open fire. Thanks for the hospitality! We plan to return in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your heartfelt review. I know every time I even get in the driveway, I feel relaxed and a sense of peace. It is a great place to rest and to recharge. The cottage and the waterfalls will await your next visit.

This was our first stay at the cottage but it won't be our last! We took our grandchildren ages 6 & 8 and it was perfect. The beautiful river was just right for them to play in so there was no time to be bored! The cottage is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. We had a great weekend!

A PERFECT PIECE OF HEAVEN

My husband and I spent a week at the cottage. Pictures don't do it justice. The views and sounds of the river are hypnotic. This is our 3rd year in the area. We've stayed at Rumbling
Bald Resort, then on Lake Lure, now here. All of them have their good points, but Creekside Cottage was one of the most relaxing. Each night we had a fire in the fire pit, morning coffee on the proch. Then went to sleep to the sound of the creek. Jerry couldn't have been more helpful and kind. We can't wait to come next year. Only 2 things I would suggest--a light over the kitchen table (would make playing board games and cards a bit easier) and a new mattress in the river side bedroom (VERY soft and lumpy).

Perfect cottage and location to spend quality time with our 3 grandsons. They had a blast playing in the creek. Very peaceful setting for relaxing and enjoying nature, yet close to the town of Chimney Rock & Lake Lure.

our favorite place in the world!

We love creekside cottage and plan to return every year for as long as we can. This was our second trip, and as before, we were in awe of the beauty just out the back door, and how comfortable and cozy the cottage is. It really feels like home. Thank you fr allowing us to visit this little slice of heaven. Everything was clean and welcoming, some upgrades since our last stay were awesome. This really is our favorite place! Wish we could visit several times a year.

Owner's Response: Thanks for coming back. We love our loyal customers. We are always looking to upgrade where we can. Thanks for noticing. Of course, we don't think the natural surrounding and the location of the cottage cant be improved. it is awesome the way it is. Every time I visit the cottage I still am awed by the sound of the water. When I hear the sounds of the water I think of how many times I have sat in that swing by the fire watching the fire and listening to the water. What a place to restore oneself and too to share with others!!! Hope you come back real soon.

Montero Family

The cabin was in a wonderful location. The view was amazing; having the creek right off the back porch. My family and I loved the fire pit and it gave us some much need family time. The only issue we had was finding the location of so hiking trails and national forest; GPS does not work in the mountains so go old school and use a map. We were so blessed and ran into an amazing man who writes articles for a local magazine about different hiking trail and water falls. He hand wrote us direction to several places and it was amazing. I wish I knew his name so I could send him a thank you card……We also had a hard time finding firewood and then we meet a retired fire fighter from Florida who gave us some of his firewood. We were so blessed to meet such wonderful people in NC. We are looking forward to go back.

Owner's Response: thank you for your review. Usually you can find fire wood at a local grocery store as well ...Ingles...what makes this area so perfect is that it is remote to some extent....but grocery stores are just 15 minutes away. While the town of Chimney Rock is one street, it offers plenty in terms of shopping and restaurants and Lake Lure is amazing with a 360 degree view of the mountains. Our little cottage with its perfect location on top of cascading falls is a destination in and of itself.

Though still somewhat of a hidden gem, Rumbling Bald Climbing Access is considered to be world-class bouldering and technical rock climbing with some of the best terrain in the Southeast. It contains an estimated 1,500 bouldering problems that are easily accessible in this non-fee section of Chimney Rock State Park. The most popular climbing seasons are fall and winter.

A new half-mile hiking trail from the parking area to the climbing area was completed in December 2012 with the help of a group of local volunteers, including the Carolina Climbers Collation, Friends of Chimney Rock State Park and Carolina Mountain Club. Visitors may park in the designated parking area located off Boys Camp Road. Cars should not be parked along the entrance drive, on the grass or along the wooden bollards. Additional parking is available at the Town of Lake Lure's municipal parking lot on Hwy 64/74A, from which you can carpool. For directions and the latest information, visit www.ncparks.gov
