About Donal Dugan

We've lived in Burlington for nearly 20 years. We love Lake Champlain for sailing and swimming and the nearby mountains for skiing all winter.

We have a friendly dog and cat who have access to the fenced back yard where the garage-mahal is located.

Love Burlington!

  • 5 of 5
The apartment we rented was immaculate and just perfect for my husband and I. Much better than a hotel as there is a full kitchen for those inclined to cook. The location is extremely ideal as it is close to downtown Burlington and the lake/paved bike path. It is also an easy commute to Stowe, Vermont (60 miles) if you want to explore that area. The apartment is located in a residential area and was very quiet. Bonus - Cleo the Dog - the owners' dog whom we loved! We would highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay there again.

Great location in funky Burlington

  • 5 of 5
This property was great and well maintained with a full kitchen to boot. Owner was very helpful with familiarizing us with the amenities in the suite. Walking distance from the lake and many great spots. We will stay here again when we return to Burlington.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed in the Garage-Mahal over 4th of July weekend. It was absolutely perfect for our on-the-go travel style. The location was close enough to everything that we were able to ditch the GPS, but also far enough that we were able to enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood. The space had everything we needed to relax after our daily adventures around town and the islands. I look forward to our next trip to Burlington and being able to stay at the Garage-Mahal.

Great Stay, Great Town

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I recently stayed at the Garage-Mahal for two weeks over our honeymoon. The place was exactly as advertised and Burlington is a great town with lots to do in it. Definitely recommended for younger couple like us, great location about 2 miles from downtown, and plenty close to lots of other Burlington sights, like magic hat brewery, or ECHO lake aquarium.

Owner's Response: Burlington has a lot of things to do and great restaurants to try. A new cafe operated by Lake Champlain Chocolates has just opened just 2 blocks away on Pine St. 2 more breweries and a cider maker are also in the works for the South End of Pine st. Looking forward to some taste testing.

The Cozy Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay at the Garagemehal. There were no surprises for us. The pictures accurately show the space and furnishings. It was within walking distance of our daughter's home and had everything we needed. We enjoyed coffee and having access to the news each morning. The owner was friendly and gracious. We would stay here again.

Amazing, quiet, and felt just like home!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights and we were so happy with our choice. We had all the amenities of home, we were extremely comfortable, and most importantly, we felt very safe. We had no issues with parking on the street and the neighbors were very friendly to us. We brought our mountain bikes and were able to lock them up in a secure and dry location that was out of sight from others. The apartment has many lighting options and lots of closet space. For those so inclined to stay in and cook, which we did on a few of the nights, Price Chopper and Shaws are a half mile away, which made it convenient to stock the fridge. The lake and park are a 10 minute walk, downtown Burlington is about a 20 minute walk, and there are many shops and eateries located on Pine Street that are within walking distance as well.

The owners Donald and Nancy were so friendly. They put together a great local guide of their favorite places, which we took advantage of.

My wife and I travel to Burlington about three times a year. Staying at hotels in the center of town gets old and expensive. You have to beg the hotel desk for free parking passes and you have to pay to have a fridge put in the room. On this trip, we didn't have to deal with any of that.

We are grateful there's a Garage Mahal that allowed us to experience life in Burlington's Southend. It's a quiet residential neighborhood, which was exactly what we were looking for. We will most definitely stay here again.
